My husband presented the IF idea to me in July 2012 and I initially thought he was crazy. I was brainwashed to believe that my metabolism would suffer; I would die of starvation; and I would suffer "hunger headaches" as well as hypoglycemia... Here we are almost 2 years later and I still love IF! The beauty is that your…

Your age doesn't matter, your current fitness level, does not matter either; to reach your ultimate goal of running you have to make up in your mind that this a goal worth working towards. Set small goals (example, walk 5K steps each day) as that goal is achieved and met consistently increase the distance and speed until…

I have never had any problems with my blood pressure, but I LOVE IF! I find that it is easier for me to stay within my caloric goals eating only 2 meals & one snack per day. I have lost over 80 lbs since July 2012. I advise people to do what is best for them, but IF & MFP have been the keys to my success. Congratulations…

Thanks again for all of the encouraging remarks! I believe that I have accepted all friend requests sent to me as of today. I failed to mention that I use a Fitbit to ensure that take at least 10K steps each day. This has also been helpful to my weight loss thus far. MFP interfaces with the Fitbit which makes this an…

Thanks to all who took the time to read my mini-book! I buy the whole wheat crust at Trader Joe's and roll it out to a thin crust (you can cut it in half and make 2 smaller pizzas). I use 1 cup of Newman's Marinara, Boar's Head Turkey Pepperoni, and thinly sliced onions and bell pepper and 1 package of Trader Joe's Light Mozzarella. A nice sprinkling of crushed red pepper…

Creepy was the day that I found a handwritten note on my car at the gym that read "I have been watching you..." At least you know who is watching and you have the opportunity to advise him that you are not interested! I would try subtle hints as others advised such as moving to another machine or mentioning that you don't…

It takes me 2 hours of very high impact aerobics to burn over 1K calories, but I only succeed at this once a week (Saturdays)... I use a Polar HRM and a Fitbit to keep me honest.

1200 calories is too low for someone who is morbidly obese. Go to freedieting.com and enter your statistics to determine the correct amount of calories you should eat. Remember to reevaluate your caloric needs every 5 pounds or so. It is a good idea to try to work on increasing your water intake so that you don't confuse…

The secret to long term success is to change your thinking. Think of calories like money, you get to budget and "spend" them however you like. If you want to spend a larger allotment on say, pizza for lunch, just adjust the rest of your meals and snacks around the remaining calories. I learned years ago in Weight Watches…
