  • Hey, it happens. Unplanned stops for a quick bite to eat are *part of life* -- not something to beat yourself up over, and by no means are you forced to sit there with just "a cup of coffee" while others eat. If you're hungry, you eat and move on. Make up for it later in the day by taking a walk if you can, but one meal at…
  • I just asked my husband if he thought thigh gaps were sexy... got a blank stare, then "What's a thigh gap?" After I explained it... "OH -- you mean like bowlegged??? Hellz, no." Apparently, he doesn't find them sexy, so I'm alllll good.
  • I'm the same way: good and disciplined during the day, then after the sun goes down The Snack Beast wants to go hunting. As I'm typing this I have a 24-ounce bottle of water next to me -- and I have bribed myself that once I finish this then and ONLY then will I be allowed to have a healthy snack with the calories I have…
  • I call BS on this as well. My doctor recommended getting an elliptical machine to me because of my bad ankles and knees. I've had my NordicTrack for ten years now, and it is still running smoothly -- granted, the first few years of its existence in my house were spent as a coat rack and dust collector, but that's another…
  • Did you even *read* my entire post? I wasn't bashing the OP's opinion, just the fact that the OP was making a generalization. Thin =/= healthy, neither does someone's perception of a "normal weight" indicate quality of health.
  • So tell me, OP... ever get vertigo looking down from that high horse? /end snarkiness Kindly note that not all "normal" people got to be overweight simply because of what/how much/when they ate. Some had medical issues, others had personal setbacks -- but nothing can be generalized under "normal." I eat chocolate…
  • I told myself for *years* that I wasn't overweight, just undertall. It's hard to pinpoint an "ideal" weight for the height when everyone is proportioned differently. I have a very large ribcage but small hips, so if my weight gets too low I start to look emaciated. I'm 5'2" - my highest weight was 222 pounds, I…
  • If you have to "cheat," then you're not doing it right...
  • Completely. Awesome. Post. You rock, OP!!!
  • Wow, I guess all of my weight loss was imaginary...
  • Artificial sweeteners usually bring on migraines for me... I found it easier to just use the real stuff, but gradually decreased the amount used. Besides, I find that they always leave a nasty aftertaste that always makes me want to eat something just to make it go away -- which makes perfect sense considering that…
  • I'm actually converting from an Android phone to an iPhone 5.... loved my Droid, but I have a real issue with the fact that the phones just can't keep up with the OS upgrades. My "top of the line" Droid is frozen at OS v2.3, and v4.1 is in the process of being rolled out. I really can't afford to keep buying newer phones…
  • Loopers... an "OK" movie with a decent story, but ran about an hour longer than it should have. Back to the original thread: This thread certainly made a 4:30AM wake-up much happier! I'll take all of the above, please!!!
  • Like the Five Guys cheeseburger (with extra cheese, of course) that is on the agenda for tonight's dinner.... and which is why I was up at 4AM for my workout ;) It's not all or nothing -- it's entirely possible to lose weight, keep it off, and get HEALTHY even with the occasional junk/processed food tossed in for fun and…
  • I wear a HRM along with my Fitbit when I do my elliptical and kettlebell workouts, then enter the calories burned here on MFP. When the Fitbit syncs with MFP, the information is transferred to the Fitbit site and overwrites the calories burned for that time period. I let the Fitbit calculate everything else...
  • We have "no idea what it's like to be young these days?" I have news for you sweetie -- and a quote: "Our youth now love luxury. They have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for their elders and love chatter in place of exercise; they no longer rise when elders enter the room; they contradict their…
  • I grew up with this thanks to my Quebecois relatives... être tiguidou!
  • I've actually lost a total of 105 pounds from my highest weight, and have been maintaining since March of this year. Although a lot has tightened up with regular workouts, there is still quite a bit that is still pretty loose. It has been said that it can take up to 18 months after hitting your goal to see the final…
  • I'm hoping that this now means future Star Wars movies will actually be *good*.... instead of those last three abominations that were inflicted upon us. Then again, I'm a Disney fangirl - so they can do no wrong in my eyes.
  • It really all depends on the type of illness and how you feel. I have a head cold/allergies right now, and I find that while I have to talk myself into a workout during times like this I feel SO much better afterwards. Just take it easy and don't overdo it -- maybe take a good walk just to get yourself moving and see if…
  • I've never deleted anyone... haven't found anyone annoying enough, and just because someone hasn't logged in a while doesn't mean that they aren't going through something major in their lives. Like someone said previously, that might be the person who needs the support the most if/when they come back. Friends here are for…
  • Maybe I'm just overtired and snarky... but perhaps you shouldn't work on having a "thigh gap". Seriously? Unless you have the genetic ability for one, it's not possible. Simple as that. Try working on getting fit and healthy -- which *IS* in your control -- instead of something that can only be achieved if you were born…
  • Yet another reason why this site needs a "Like" button... fantastic job!!! :flowerforyou:
  • White Castle sliders.... oh, yessssssss.
  • Yup. This is the mantra that finally got me on course -- and kept me there. These sound *AMAZING*!!! I'm sure I'll be making them soon... and sharing with others. Can't keep them all to myself now, can I?
  • Taco Doritos -- not those nasty "Tacos at Night" ones -- the *original* ones. Thank goodness they only revive them once in a while. But when they do....
  • I totally agree.... my best friend (other than my husband) is a guy, and sometimes the odd looks and comments I get are rather amusing. I'm completely secure in my marriage, my husband is probably the least jealous person you could ever meet, and I can't help it if I tend to get along better with men. It's probably because…
  • I *have* been... this is info I received in an email from Fitbit yesterday, and I have been in contact with Scott here at MFP. This problem had nothing to to with the GoDaddy server issues, but has been going on for over a month now.
