The best way to deal with someone like that? Let their comments be your motivation -- instead of letting them get you down, set out to prove them WRONG. Remember that you are doing this for *you*, not anyone else. It's YOUR health, YOUR life. Be proud of yourself for what you accomplish... celebrate every little goal that…

This. Completely. No, I do not have children of my own (7 years of infertility treatments and four miscarriages, so don't tell me I hate children and/or parents), but when I want to spend a quiet -- note the word QUIET -- and expensive evening out with my husband, I expect a nice night. Not everyone is enchanted by the…

I think that I actually work out *HARDER* now that I'm in maintenance. I still have that old pair of size 22 pants hanging up in the closet to keep me in that "oh HELLZ no, never again!" mindset. Besides... I like to eat far too much. Keeping up the workouts allows me to do just that. :drinker:

Hard work and perseverance really *do* pay off... just remember that you're in this for the long haul. This isn't a quick fix -- there's no one out here with any magic formulas to make you lose weight and/or get fit. It's all about what YOU want and whether or not you have the determination to achieve it. Watch what you…

Sorry, but fish and deer can hardly be considered "foes." Take down a buck with your bare hands, and *then* you can consider it a sport. Sitting in a blind and drinking beer while waiting for your prey to wander by can't be taken seriously as a "sport." Competitive cheerleading is intense physical activity where teams…

Just about *EVERY* commercially produced food product has traces of rodent hair/feces, insect parts, etc. Check out the FDA's website for the list of "acceptable" contaminants -- althought reading through that just make make it even more difficult to eat.…

*wild applause* Been waiting to hear someone say that for a LOOOOONG time. :flowerforyou: Back to the subject at hand: I agree with you. But, I also think that some read through the newsfeed, see something that *might* look positive, comment, and move on. I even had people congratulating me for losing weight after I had…

I rinse mine after every use, then toss it in the washer (in a lingerie bag with my socks) when I wash my workout gear every 4-5 days. Just make sure to take it out before everything goes into the dryer.....

I fail to see the humor... it's an actual medical condition.

LOVE this!

No offense intended -- but have you ever checked out the fat and sodium content at Subway? And you *do* realize that their food isn't always as "fresh" as they claim? http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-505123_162-44040122/at-subway-customers-really-arent-eating-as-fresh-as-they-think/

Yes, it's imaginary. As were the 84 pounds I've lost while still eating McD's/pizza/KFC on occasion. Maybe the naysayers are all crabby because of their too-strict, organically-grown, no-fun daily routine: http://www.syracuse.com/have-you-heard/index.ssf/2012/05/organic_food_attitude.html

This.... just made my day. Love, A former size 22 and now a size 2 (who is *still* getting trash talked for her size)

Because it's no one's business but my own, that's why. This may seem like a childish response, but quite honestly if I want someone's opinion I'll ask for it -- and I haven't the slightest care in the world what my MFP friends are/aren't eating. They're all adults as well, and since I'm no nutritionist I have NO right to…

I usually raid with my EverQuest guild on Saturday afternoons, but most weekends from spring through the fall I can be found running around ren faires and pirate festivals playing dress-up and firing dangerous black powder weaponry....

I've had one since November, and have worn it constantly except for showering and charging the battery. I also use my Polar HRM for more intense workouts -- listing the workouts on MFP will adjust the Fitbit calories through the sync feature, so nothing gets "double counted." Also, thanks to one of the peeps on my FL I've…

I'm a size 2... and trust me, I'm a "real" woman (whatever the heck *that* is supposed to mean). I also happen to be only 5'2", so it works for me. I didn't set out to be that size -- in fact, when I started I thought I'd be happy fitting into a size 12 again. I couldn't care less about what my "size" is as opposed to how…

Perhaps because they most likely are all hype? I'd never heard of them until you bumped this post, and after doing a quick Google search they seem like yet another "quick fix" that someone would reach for rather than doing real exercise. Think about those vibrating belt thingies that were popular back in the 60's... you…

This thread inspired me to take a special trip to my local LUSH today... only to find that they've discontinued my favorite King of the Mods hair cream! I decided to pick up a jar of Dirty instead -- anyone ever use it?

Big Shampoo and American Cream conditioner... and I never travel without my shampoo bars!!!

This is Bob... yes, he really works. And has a whole arsenal of flintlock cousins as well. BOOM!!!

Me and m'love, Junior Prom 1986: I'm still 5'2"... but now 15 pounds lighter

I find it difficult to get in all my protein completely from food (ditto on the previous chicken comment!). I *do* love my nightly protein shake made with almond milk, and keep a supply of protein shots in the 'fridge for a quick post-workout boost in case I won't be able to eat for a while. I have to make sure it's whey…

I have mine closed, and it has been for quite some time thanks to snide comments from people who had far worse eating habits than mine. I certainly don't need to be accountable to anyone but MYSELF -- I'm doing this for me, after all. This is a lifestyle change for me, not a diet. I haven't given up anything or deprived…

Every single bite, every single day, for the past 560 days. I've never used the "Quick Add" feature - if it isn't in the database, then I break it down to individual components or create a recipe to account for it. Of course, this also can lead to days where it looks like I've eaten FAR too much, but it's just another…

It's definitely genetic... you're either born Betty Crocker, or you're not. Although I've heard that there are some culinary schools out there that promise to help you get it.

HRMs are designed to be accurate for more intense forms of exercise, so unless you're planning to jog or run around the park it won't really do much good. You may want to just invest in a pedometer or something like a Fitbit to help you track the more "everyday" type of exercising like walking, climbing stairs, etc.

I freely admit to buying a pair of them because I thought they were comfy -- I didn't believe for one minute that they would actually help "tone up" anything. If you actually believed that a pair of shoes would magically transform your legs and bottom, then I have a bridge you might wanna buy. :/

^This. I *plan* for the Friday night pizza with extra cheese... the occasional Saturday outing to Five Guys.... an anniversary dinner at our favorite Italian place. I KNOW these places aren't the healthiest, and NO I do not look for the healthiest things on the menu when I go. Why should I sit there with a glass of ice…

VERY well written. Some people seem to forget the primary reason(s) that got us here in the first place, and while I'm not saying we all need to hold hands and sing "Kumbaya," the world could do with a lot more positive and a lot less negative. Yes, even teh Intarwebz.
