I am an AVID runner. I am not fast though but I am running Boston marathon (charity bib) in April, Pittsburgh in May and Indianapolis in November. I SWEAR by the galloway method. It is very civilized and I have found that it helps with the self-talk. When you feel like you want to quit, you just convince yourself to run…

Everyone has to be on their own journey. My husband and I have been pudgy for our entire relationship. I lost a bunch of weight last year, plateaued and then he lost a bunch of weight. He looks great and I am happy for him. I know i am bit jealous but that is my issue not his. I don't take his weight loss/gain as my burden…

I hear ya. I am in Chicago.

so I lost 30lbs over the last two years and my husband has lost 40. He has been able to maintain while I fell off the wagon back in October 2014. I gained 10 back. We have all been there. 1966spen, I started out cooking and lost a bunch of weight, but then I got pretty good at the whole cooking things and now I cook too…

good for you. I got your back. I ran my first marathon in 2002 and felt awesome. I've gotten older and heaver since and added over an hour to my marathon time since. I am running one, maybe two this year. The goal is to lose weight while adding a lot of cardio. It is hard, but we can do it.

How did the fall training go? C25K is a great program but be careful. I started with a 5k and now love running (altho I love eating more).

I hear ya, I am down almost 30. Also in Chicago. I fear adding the winter weight...

do you like your fitbit? I am pretty sure mine overstates my calorie burn. I used to live in DC (went to American then worked in the dupont area), moved away, moved back (-ish, baltimore) and now live in chicago.

I feel ya ladies. I have been good then bad then good and then bad. It is exhausting. Altho you would think that feeling like crap would be a bigger motivator. Once this polar vortex thing moves along, I look forward to at least walking my dogs.

I have a fitbit and I love mine, but I am pretty sure it overestimates my calorie burn. I dunno. I bought one (the fitbit one) and use it ever day. Their customer service is great. I had a fitbit ultra that got all wonky on me after like 9 months and they replaced it super quick.

i just spent the weekend in Boca Raton with my in-laws. I do enjoy some fun in the sun (and in the dark at swinging richards).

So my name is martin, I live in Chicago with my partner and two dogs. Previously, I have lived in DC/Baltimore, St Louis MO and originally from the 'burbs of Kansas CIty. I am an attorney and work for a tv station group as the head of HR. I love my job but we have so much food and candy around the office. Of of my…

I have run a bunch of races. My first serious bf convinced me to run a 5k with him and his friends. I thought I was going to through up at the end. BY the time we broke up, I was training for my first marathon. When does the color run registration open? I hear it is a ton of fun. I have done the chicago and marine corps…

Hey everyone! Living in chicago myself (roscoe village area).

Hello everyone. I live in Roscoe Village with my partner and two dogs. Each time I take my dogs to the vet, he tells us how both our dogs are in great shape. So technically, our house is 50% in shape. I just wish I was in the better category.

I would strongly doubt it. My partner is another chubby jewish guy who I am trying to get to use MFP with me. FYI, tracking holiday staples (kugel, chopped liver, latkes) will depress you. I am not jewish but enjoy anything made with rendered chicken fat.

I agree with the above poster who wears the HRM or the fitbit depending on the exercise. I have had a fitbit for almost a year know (with a three month break when it broke before fitbit sent me a new one). I found the HRM helps me gauge my intensity level when working out and it gives me better, more current information…

I have had a body bugg but now I use a fitbit. I found the fitbit to be more discrete than the bodybugg. Plus the customer support for the fitbit is WAY better than the bodybugg. Either way, anything that gets you moving more is worthwhile.

do you think the fitbit overestimates calories burned?

I think setting small goals is the way to go. I have a long history of setting up huge goals only to get sidetracked after a couple of weeks. One foot in front of the other right?

I am a total binge eater too. What I have found to have some success is to log my binges. My backsliding has gotten better. I still have problems with the whole "I've already screwed up I might as well have another cookie" issues. But slowly but surely, my 5 cookie binge has become a four cookie binge, and I am hoping to…
