  • This is great advice, thank you so much. I've googled this a bit more and it certainly seems to fit my symptoms and is apparently fairly common with pcos. I will buy the stuff and take a look myself.
  • I've had these issues for years though through two GP s. I walk to work most days and I can feel that I'm getting out of breath and sweaty after a minute of walking. On the walk home I have no issues at all. Not saying that it's not good advice though, maybe a new doctor is in order, but I don't think it's an emergency.
  • My GP said if it was anything serious like the heart it wouldn't go away towards the afternoon/evening, but maybe it's worth getting a second opinion. I've had a 24h holter test done about 10 years ago, At that time everything was fine, but never had any other tests done.
  • I've also experienced a stall, after a slight gain when I started lifting. I've read about other people with similar issues as well. It seems there's something about heavy lifting that can mess with the scale. I was in a deficit for 3 months without much exercise and weight loss was much more predictable. Like you though…
  • I'm on my first diet break right now and I love it. I was also worried about getting back on the deficit after, but I think I'll be fine. It's not a break of 'yay eat garbage all day' but I still log, still weigh and I don't think it'll be too hard to cut it back down. It's just nice to have some extra calories to play…
  • I can't unfortunately. I usually do Sun-Tue-Fri due to my work schedule. Next week I'm away Mon to Thu, so I can do Sunday and Fri, the only other option is late Thu night or Sat and either way it'll be back to back.
  • Not sure if this is addressed at me or the OP, but I weigh myself daily and then average it out for a weekly weight.
  • Weighing food that is. :D
  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one struggling with this. I'm only two months in my lifting program and I generally look at the weekly and monthly averages. I'm 1.5 pounds heavier than a month ago and it's so frustrating. Although for the first time in these two months I noticed my clothes feeling differently. I know for a…
  • The fish oil I take has 10 calories each and I take two.
  • Thanks guys! I'm brand new to lifting heavy, and was at about 1.2 pound weekly loss before I started. Don't know about my body fat, but definitely a far cry from lean. In any case, I love seeing the changes and more importantly I really enjoy lifting.
  • I'm in the same boat @kimkimcoleman It's frustrating, but I can see muscles I never knew I had as well as my posture improving so I'm still very motivated. Just wish that I the scale would start pointing down again. I'm actually going to eat maintenance starting on Saturday for a couple of weeks and then get back in a…
  • I've lost maybe a pound since starting weight training and clothes fit the same, so I don't think that much fat has shrunk down to reveal muscles. Maybe swelling though, I get sore quite regularly. I'm not looking to bulk just trying to figure out why I stopped losing. I know that muscle gains are super slow for anyone and…
  • Oh ok cool, thanks guys. I'll load it on the lower safeties next time. I think I read somewhere that if you can easily lift the loaded bar off safeties it's too light, but maybe I misremember that. I'll try it next time.
  • Yay, deadlift accomplished last night. :) The loading/unloading of the bar is a bit of a pain when it sits on the floor but other than that I worked just fine. With the two 10 lb plates, it was pretty easy but I did the full set just to make sure I got my form right.
  • Same here, I'm at 25 pounds and I see no difference around by hip/butt/thigh area where I carry most of my extra flab. Nobody ever commented on it either which convinced me enough to think that it's simply not visible yet. About two weeks ago, I pulled out the same clothes I wore in a not so flattering picture from April…
  • Anyone else have any input? I just looked at the weekly averages over the last six weeks and it honestly freaks me out. It went: 182.3 181.9 177.7 178.6 179.2 180.3 That is not a good trend and I don't understand what's going on.
  • I do feel tired, but I don't know if this because of the deficit or because of school. I don't feel like I have less energy in any case. I'm brand new to lifting, never lifted anything more than a 5lbs dumbbell. Lol I haven't noticed any difference in clothing but I did discover that I have an actual biceps. Haha I read…
  • Thanks everyone! I'm going to give it a shot next time.
  • Actually it's a Romanian deadlift I do, I bend my knees.
  • I've been where you are and I've done exactly the same and cut out 'the bad stuff' completely out of fear of not controlling myself. And it resulted in the same, big binges that sabotaged my loss. Even when I was happy with my weight and 'done' with my diet, I ate all that stuff again and bam weight right back on it. It…
  • Not jumping to conclusions at all. I read your post about the gym, but as others have pointed out logging accuracy is the issue. And your post about taking everyone's advice was after mine so no I did not read that. I do hope that you will though and good luck.
  • Sorry double post, lost that first one
  • OP, I don't understand your replies. You posted and wanted to know why you're not losing weight, people have told you. If you're not willing to make any changes and you feel your logging is perfect then don't change anything. You are an adult. But without any changes, your weight is probably not magically going to fall…
  • OP, I don't understand your replies. When people say that your logging is a problem it's not a personal attack on you.
  • Log it and get back on the horse tomorrow. More importantly though, think about your last sentence 'and realizing I suffered all week for nothing'. Why are you suffering? Are you restricting your calories too much? Are you cutting out entire food groups? Are you trying to lose weight too fast? The only 'suffering' should…
  • Same as others for me. Treated it as a diet not something I could sustain longterm. I followed crazy fad diets and lost weight but it was never sustainable. I'd go on a crazy binge after restricting whole food groups for months and pile the weight back on. This time is different, I don't have the x years in maintenance to…
  • Same here, desk job and grad school equals a LOT of time spent sitting on my butt. The first three months I just watched the calories, didn't do any exercise at all other than regular daily activities. I've lost right on target for mfp and sedentary settings. I also found that while I cut out all snacking at work that is…
  • Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I'm so sore from my last set of squats that I won't be doing much today or tomorrow but I think it's a good goal to implement some LISS training on my rest days. Maybe if I don't need to kill myself with a crazy hard cardio session I won't mind it either.
