MFP math
Can someone help me figure this out? I have custom goals but the MFP's math doesn't seem to check out. My macros for today are 108 protein 94 carbs 50 fat (no alcohol) 1g of protein is 4 calories, so protein calories today are 432. Same for carbs, so a total of 376. 1g fat = 9 calories, total 450 Which is a grand total of…

Hiking calories
Does anyone have a good estimation on hiking? Mfp gave me 1407 for 166min. The time is off my fitbit zip but the calories seem insane. We did gain about 2500ft so it was a good effort, but I'm maintaining in 1600-1700 calories so I don't think I should eat that much more. Does anyone have any ballpark figures they use?

I finally belong here!
I'm so happy to be officially in maintenance. I hit my goal of 155lbs at 5'11 earlier this week. I'm only really half way to my true goal of being a fit ****, but it's such a nice feeling to finally be here. Quick history: I started last April when I finally decided enough is enough. I turned 38 last August and set myself…

Bulk/cut vs recomp
I'm nearing my goal and I was wondering if someone could explain the differences to me. I see people recommending recomp when bf is still relatively high. Why not bulk and cut? Obviously not bulking at 500+ calories over maintenance but with just a couple of hundred or so that would lead to maybe a pound to pound of a half…

Women: what do you do about man hands?
I started lifting in August and I've developed a bunch of ugly calluses on my hands. I've never seen any women at my gym wear gloves, so what do you girls do? I'm not lifting super heavy or anything, but the deadlifts and lat pull downs are killing my hands. Not a fan of the rough man hands and no amount of lotion seems to…

Body fat on scales
So, I know that scales don't give an accurate body fat reading, but can they still be used for trends? I've never really looked at the numbers, but I just looked at the graph over the last 8 or so months and since I started at the gym a three months ago I've seen a much sharper decline in body fat. For example, this last…

Protein shake recommendations
So it seems I can't do whey protein. I get hugely bloated and uncomfortable and I've tried a few supposedly high quality ones. Got the Vega sports performance one because of the high protein per scoop and because I read that it's a complete protein. But I just don't care for the taste. I loved the gold standard powders…

Advice please - stall
So, my weight loss has come to a complete stall and I went over my numbers and was hoping to get some input. For the record I'm 5'9, SW in April 203, CW 171, GW 150ish and have been stalled since August. I also have PCOS. So anyways, I'm a nerd and I've averaged out my numbers for a weekly weight and calorie intake and an…

Measurements
Do any of you take weekly measurements? I just started and the first week I'm down half an inch on legs and hips and maybe a fraction of an inch everywhere else. I have no reference, is that even possible or are these just measurement errors from not being in the exact same spot? How fast do you see inches disappear? For…

Calories in bacon
What do you use for a typical regular slice of bacon? The packaging says 100 calories per slice uncooked. Mfp has databases from as low as 40 up to 90 per slice. How much do you take off for cooking?

So happy with this lifestyle
I've only started keto a few weeks ago and I know I'm preaching to the converted here, but this is amazing! Most importantly I feel way better than I have in probably years. I have PCOS and so often I would just feel off in the mornings which I now think was hypoglycemia. Now it's all gone and I sleep way better. I don't…

Advice on going out of town
So I'm only on the third day of keto and so far so good. I had a feeling of being a bit off and tired yesterday, but I feel fine today. Lost a couple of pounds of water and I'm loving the fact that I can eat cheese and salami for lunch! But I just found out that I'm going out of town Mon-Wed for work, and I feel it's…

Lifting advice
I'm new to lifting and was hoping to get some input. I've lost nearly 30 lbs with another 20ish to go. A month ago I started going to the gym regularly and I'm following this routine: http://www.aworkoutroutine.com/the-beginner-weight-training-workout-routine/ Except I modified it a bit. Frankly the squat rack was and…

Keto and protein
I'm just about to start keto for the first time and I'm trying to set up my macros. How much protein are people aiming for? I have PCOS and read it shouldn't be too high to allow for ketosis but I also read Lyle McDonald's book that said the first two weeks should be at 150g. The keto calculator online gives me 110 for the…

Low BP/low sugar or something else?
Does anyone have any experience with either? I've always had this problem, so it's not calorie deficit related but I notice it way more now that I'm exercising regularly. Basically, I can't work out in the morning. On weekends, I often feel that I just can't get going until well in the afternoon. If I try to do anything…

Skipping rest day?
Newbie lifter question: if you missed a workout, is it ok to skip the rest day and go back to back to make up for it or am I better off with fewer workouts for one week and back to normal routine the next? I'm doing a full body beginner routine 3x a week.

Help me with my deadlift
Last time you guys helped me graduate to the big girl squat rack, so hopefully I can get some advice to start proper deadlifts too. I've only been lifting for a little over a month, and I started out doing stiff legged deadlifts with the fixed bar. I don't think I could have lifted the full olympic bar plus weights. Either…

PCOS and muscle building
I've been wondering about it. I have PCOS but I'm on birth control and spironolactone to help regulate hormones. However, I still have some of the symptoms typically associated with higher testosterone such as hirutism and acne. I'm curious if I would be able to build muscle at a faster rate than the average woman? I…

help me figure this out
So I'm a bit at a loss what's going on with me and I apologize in advance for the small novel, but I want to give all the infos. I'm 5'9, SW 204, CW 179, GW 150. I started in April eating around 1350 calories and the weight came off right on target. I'm quite sedentary due to a desk job and grad school. I often spend all…

General endurance/fitness level of lifters
I'm curious. I've always been told you have to train what you want to be good at, so if you want better cardio endurance, you have to do cardio. I always felt that my muscles were fairly strong but that I just couldn't keep up breathing for any type of strenuous cardio stuff. Seeing the increase in strength in just one…

Scale recommendations
I think my scale is on the frizz. I have an fitbit Aria and I like it for the wifi capability mostly. Saves me to log one more thing. I don't need any fancy bf measurements and stuff. The scale always had weird things going on like measuring the exact same weight down to 10g for three consecutive days or showing swings of…

Whoosh
I've read about this big whoosh and almost 4 month in I've never seen anything remotely whoosh-y. Every ounce has been slowly and painfully earned :D This last few weeks I've been more or less the same weight, but having started a lifting program and the associated muscle soreness as well as that time of the month I…

Talk some sense into me please
I don't know what's going on with me. Three months ago I think I finally saw the light after years of yoyo-ing on restrictive diets and subsequent weight gain. No more fad diets or depriving myself of anything, just good old cico. I've lost 19lbs in 3 months which I know is totally fine. Slow and steady and all that jazz,…

Yikes constipation
So I've never been one to go number 2 once a day. Often I'd go every 4-6 days without any symptoms although I realize now that's considered chronic constipation. About 3 months ago I started on my weight loss journey and I'm doing well and losing right on target. I've also started to go at least every 3 days I assume from…

Frustrating
I thought I had finally seen the light when it comes to weight loss but I'm just as frustrated as ever. I know these posts are up here every day and I know weight loss isn't linear, but god it can be frustrating. I'm 38, 5'8 and 195lbs. The first month I was losing right on schedule and lost just over 6lbs. This month I…

Hello everyone
I've been a member for a while but haven't had the courage to say hello. I've logged for without fail for about 3 months and have list nearly half of the weight I need to lose. Ideally I'd like about 5lbs below my goal but I'll cross that bridge when I'm there. I've been struggling with my weight since puberty and have…
