Congrats, that's a great feeling! I personally find running on the treadmill harder than running outside on trails or even the track. Not sure if it's mental, physical, or both.

The heat helps you stretch deeper, cutting down the time that your muscles need to 'warm up'. Don't know about the calorie aspect of it, though.

I love it, I go once a week. Thankfully there's a 5 dollar hot class offered where I live. I let that be my exercise for the day. The first time I did it, I was SO sore the next two days in places that I've never been sore before haha. I'm fairly adjusted to it now though. It feels great to sweat so much.

ditto! i love it with almond milk mixed in.

I've been doing the "low carb" thing but I'm trying to stay below 150 g and I'm still seeing good results. Not sure if that even counts as low carb but I think compared to the average American diet, it indeed is. I'd suggest upping the carbs a bit but still keeping an eye on them.

Don't stress over what you can eat while you're out. Eat whatever everyone else is eating, just less! Do you allow yourself cheat days? I find them important, mine is today wahoo!

Yes, the filtered pitchers definitely help! I can't really understand people having a hard time drinking water. I drink it constantly. But thinking back to the days of only tap water, I never really drank it either because I didn't like the way it tasted. I love water now! The only thing I drink besides tea and coffee.

I've been doing it every morning and night because I feel so curious and excited since I've finally started to lose a couple of pounds. I also do it every time I'm at the gym since their scale is more accurate. Maybe I'll hop on the once a week bandwagon, I don't want to become obsessed!

i think it's okay, i tend to do the same thing. just make sure to do lower body only the next day to give your upper body time to recover.
-
Thanks! I've been wanting to try this for a while now.

thanks for the link. i've been keeping it fairly simple and adding a little bit of butter to my oatmeal with chocolate chips and coconut flakes. pretty good!
-
Possibly, but I really have no idea. Good thing is that I've noticed working out lightly while sick helps me get over my sickness faster.

Anyone suggests on how to cook the squash without a microwave? I'm microwave-less.

Sorry, I didn't read your entire post but you look GREAT!

My name's Laura, I'm 23 and from the midwest. I've been really into working out for the past 4 or 5 years but last year I got in a rut, was depressed and eating unhealthy. I gained almost ten pounds and outgrew some of my clothes. My biggest motivator is getting back into my favorite pair of jeans! I just happened to do…

I'm having the same problem. I think I made it over 1400 calories yesterday thanks to having a bowl of ice cream, which I'll probably do again tonight. Many days I have a hard time making it to 1000 and I always eat when I'm hungry. I'm vegetarian and have been watching my carbs so that doesn't help my situation either.

I do morning and night, but I "log" my night weight or just go by that number. Counting my morning weight seems like cheating.
-
Running through it with your arms up in the air will help. You'll look crazy, but I swear it helps.
-
Same here. This site suggests to weigh in the morning but I prefer to track my night weight, when I weigh the most. It just seems to make more sense to me to go by my max weight. Sure I may weigh 126 after sleeping and not eating or drinking anything for 8 hours but why would I go by that weight? It's not realistic to me.

You should ask!! Nothing compares to having someone watch your form and correct it. I'm sure they'd rather have someone ask than see people lifting incorrectly. :)
-
I'd like to think I eat clean for the most part. Though I'm not sure on the exact definition of that. Today is NOT a good example to look at though, fair warning.

How tall are you? Are you sure 125 is a reasonable goal for your height? Also, instead of having long cardio workouts with a consistent pace, try High Intensity Interval Training. It burns more calories. Google it and you will find several workouts. I'll get on the elliptical for 15 minutes. Warm up for the first five,…

i was eating kale chips that i just made as i read this thread. it's a really simple snack. just tear off pieces of kale, throw out the ribs, drizzle with olive oil and bake for about 10 minutes (til crunchy) at 375 degrees. then sprinkle with salt. it's surprisingly good! i put too much salt on mine, thought they would…

http://budgetbytes.blogspot.com/2010/02/roasted-chickpeas-080-recipe-040.html there's mine, really simple and yummy. you really have to keep an eye on them towards the end, though. there's a thin line between crunchy and burnt. you definitely don't want them soft in the middle

i'm looking at your log for today and you've only eaten three things (plus two drinks) but managed to take in over 1000 calories. your food choices are poor. you need to eat MORE food, and healthy food at that. adding lots of fruits and vegetables as others have said, would be a good start.

This is the train of thought I've been on lately and I'm finally losing the last few annoying pounds. The USDA food pyramid recommends an ungodly amount of grains.
-
I do eat fruits and vegetables but juicing once a day or every other day gives me an extra kick of a bunch of vegetables that I would otherwise not be consuming. Thanks everyone, several helpful comments
-
OOPS you meant search the food database! Duh! Hah, thank you!!

I did, and yes there's lots of entries, too many hah. I'd had to sift through quite a bit to find an answer to my question
