Nice one Izzy. I am doing 5x5 but starting from the beginning and it feels great. I must watch that shoulder though!

Great ideas here. In order to drink more water I fill up my workout flask and keep it beside me. It equates to 3 glasses of water so if I finish the flask twice, I know I have drunk 6 glasses. I am steadily working up to the recommended 8 glasses. Also when I eat out I ask for a sparkling water with lemon. I've been doing…

I agree with not using BMI. I lift three days a week and do martial arts twice a week and am pretty fit. My BMI is around the same as yours Stephanie but, to look at me, you could say that I am more athletic than obese. Try not to worry about eating 2161 calories per day (that's about how much I eat) because it the fuel…

Thank you ladies

Absolutely brilliant

What a wonderful attitude you have. Very inspirational.

This is a brilliant post and one of the best I've seen on MFP. Not only did it make me laugh, it informed me. All of that said, a sperm whale's brain for me please. :D

You can definitely see the difference. What did you do?

This is a useful thread because I am resting for 2 weeks from a shoulder injury. When I start again I plan to deload everything by 10%.
-
My weight has been the same for around a month too but that is probably due to my strength training.
-
Well, I've found my rest muscle. I am taking a couple of weeks out from lifting heavy because I've hurt my shoulder

I'm with you on the inner thighs @arabianhorselover

I hear ya on abs being made in the kitchen. I'll keep going anyway because I want this to work.

Hello Pamela, I am also 46 and fitter than I was 10 years ago. I have so much energy and motivation to keep fit. At the end of this month I will be going for my black belt in taekwondo and am in the best shape of my life. You can do it and you have made the first step by coming here. When you start, gain momentum and see…

Feel free to add me too. This is a great place to get support.

Me too @VegasFit

I focus purely on my goals. If people in my household are not supportive to my goals, I find people who are. With the meal time thing, I find that eating a different meal from the rest of the family can alienate you. What I do now is eat the same as everyone else but in smaller portions and enough to fit in with my calorie…

I am loving what I am seeing. Like you, @sofaking6, I am resting the heavy lifting because my shoulder isn't right. I have found that I am more active in my 40s, what about the rest of you?

I'm Grace, 46 and new to this group. It is nice to know what other 40 somethings are up to on the health and fitness road. I hope you are well Hope!

I have just found this group and I am 9 weeks into the Strong Lifts programme. I enjoy lifting and it is so nice to connect with other ladies who lift and look forward to sharing and getting info from everyone.
-
Neither is overwhelming for me any more because I eat what I eat and the workouts I do are a major part of my life.

I'm around 9 weeks in now and I have a lot of flabby fat around my abs. I want to burn it off now because it is really annoying me now :/ !
-
Welcome to Strong Lifts. I use the app and do the warm ups then go onto the lifting. Are you eating more as well? I have found that I don't ache as much the day after, especially if I have some protein. Just to add, when I do lift I might run afterwards but not before. If you do it before you could tire your muscles.…

I'm a Brit and don't know who she is. She looks great though!

I totally agree with this. I became quite heavy after two babies and started off doing taebo videos then picked up running. Before children I did Taekwondo and loved it but didn't go back for 8 years. Now I run once or twice a week and am back doing Taekwondo twice a week (3 years now) and have just discovered strong…

Seeing my arms and legs firming up as well as having the energy to trot all the way up a set of stairs without stopping keep me motivated, knowing that I am doing something right.

Are you eating enough food to fuel your workouts?
