Hey ladies, Yesterday was Strong Lift day: Squat = 60lb (deloaded but will upload because I now have a squat rack) OHP =60lb DL = 125lb Cardio was a 20 minute cycle against the wind.

How do you get rid of that deflated water filled balloon? Has anyone had any success?
-
I've deloaded on my squats, only until I pick up my squat rack (later on). Just because as the load has got heavier I struggle to pick the bar up from the floor and put it on my shoulders. I felt like a weakling at first but now I just feel that it needed to be done. I say deload it you have to then build up again. At…

Yes, Llamapants86, I guess you're right about the loose skin. I would love to set fire to it some how but don't worry ladies, I won't. :D

This is good to know

Well done on you for doing something. Like your doctor said try things that work for you and I would say as your body becomes stronger try more. All the best and you can heal yourself.

I find that the scooby calorie calculator is a fantastic guide of what your tdee should be. It also advises that when you lose 5lb of your starting weight you go back and recalculate. I have found it really useful and am loving eating my 2230 cals a day. As others have said, read the stickies at the top of this page…

Welcome to the group. We are all a bunch of encouraging and very supportive ladies.

A year ago I had ACL (anterior collateral ligament) and my left knee was crunching and clicking all over the place. A painful injury I picked up through martial arts. A couple of sessions with a physio and 6 weeks of rehab pretty much sorted it and I'm back doing martiak arts fully now. My knees (both now) click when I do…

I sweat on the ohp and deadlift days too. This is where it is the most taxing, I think.

I love cycling and cycle with my son to school every morning.

As I am new to this I have found itva very useful read

@csillers13 I say to go and check out a class. Doing martial arts has really toughened me up both mentally and physically. I would encourage more women to do martial arts because it is such a wonderful art. I would love to know how you get on.

I am in training for my black belt in taekwondo, which is on May 8th. I am doing strong lifts and train 2x 90 minutes a week in tkd. I am 4 weeks into strong lifts and will begon running again. I am doing the TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) method for fat loss. Happy to join you and anyone else in preparation for a…

I have just joined and I am so happy to find this group because I do love my food. I look forward to sharing information with you all and picking up tips. :)

I used to weigh myself daily, then I went weekly, then didn't bother because I realised that the scale was not my friend. I prefer to go by clothes and tape measurements. The scale causes pain and disappointment.
-
I like that @guisa. I am into my 4th week of strong lifts and it is really complementing my taekwondo practice. I do that 2x a week for 90 mins a time. I am eating cleaner too and noticing that my arms and legs are shaping up. The belly, I'm sure will fall in line soon. Since doing SL I have gained 2lbs but that doesn't…

I'm all for adding strength training in there, especially if you want to look shapely.

I see food as fuel. It is my friend and I enjoy it. Ithink I eat well and the food I eat fits my macros, pretty much. I eat foods on any part of the colour spectrum and love basmati rice. As previous posters have said it is calories in v calories out with plenty of water, which I need to work on.

I think we worry too much about upsetting others and don't consider how much they upset us. You are your own person and he is his. Nobody "makes" us do anything. If want it have it. If you really don't want it don't have it. When you start letting other people become the master of your life you have lost control. Be…

I always do something. If I feel any pain I take a painkiller then get on with it. Martial arts and taekwondo are a major part of my life now and the only time I don't do it is if I am really, really ill or travelling. How important is doing exercise for you in the first place?

Welcome to the crew. I have become more active in the last few months by doing taekwondo 2x a week, strong lifts 3 times a week and jogging 30 mins 1x a week and a 15 minute skip. I have lost more fat around my body instead of becoming lighter. My motto is "The scale is not your friend people". I am training for my black…

I inherited my set from my brother. In the UK we have Argos and ebay has a ton of stuff.

Thanks for that @questionfear and I will look at it.

Excellent and welcome back

This thread has been very useful to me as I am 3 weeks into SL. I am also 46, do martial arts twice a week in addition, and learning that doing too much and eating too little won't help with the health body process. Great post.
