  • I'm so scared starting out, but reading these NSVs gives me courage for the journey. Thanks!
  • Good morning lovelies! I'm just stopping by to say hello and send good thoughts to all. I am still exhausted from being up at 0230 Thursday to drive back to the town I'm working to get to work at 0630. Thank you for the well wishes! Other than being sooooo tired, I feel fine. Maybe some cramping yesterday, but nothing…
  • I survived the pre-colonoscopy diet and the preparation ordeal the day before and morning of. When I got to the hospital mid-morning I was thirsty, needed coffee, and hadn't eaten in more than 24 hours, and was grumpy as a result. I was a model patient, though, and was nice to all the nurses. The doctor removed a small…
  • Lisa, I'm so happy for you! You've accomplished a ton in a short time. Hi, Marg! East coast of the U.S. here. It's still hot, but not as stinking hot as I remember eastern Virginia summers being when I was here 20 years ago. I'm doing the before-the-prep prep for my colonoscopy on Wednesday. I realized on Saturday that I'd…

  • Good morning! Did a kettlebell workout this morning - what a great way to start the day. Thank you to everyone who shared about prepping for the colonoscopy. dreamwriter, I'm thankful that yours found your cancer!! Thanks for the tip about the apple juice. I'll be drinking that and broth the day before, I'm sure. Good…
  • Good morning, ladies!! Hugs to all who are struggling. I admire those of you who reply with each name. Welcome to everyone new. Congrats to all who are kicking it this week! Who here has had their "Welcome to 50" present of a colonoscopy? I'm having one next week. I've heard horror stories about the prep, but I've also…
  • Morning, all! I worked all weekend - no rest for the weary. And back at it early this morning. I FINALLY got my car back!!! No more walking to the bus and arriving at work all sticky from the humidity. DH drove DD's now-fixed car back to her on Friday, and brought mine back to me Sunday. We paid big $$ to have the support…
  • Lisa, what a strong woman, to deal with so much and so many people. *hugs* Hoping things are better, and you find good, steady people to hire. Mary, the pictures are lovely. I liked the horse jumping pic, too. I have one more day without a car, and then I'll have DH's pickup for the weekend while he drives DD's now-fixed…
  • Good morning, ladies! Welcome to the new ones. Those struggling, even if you haven't mentioned it here, thinking good thoughts for you. The idea of salt/pepper in the ice cream is a great one, hadn't thought of that!! Last night it didn't call my name at all. I was just going to pitch it in the dumpster this morning, but…
  • Running past the board, speed reading as I go and waving encouragement and smiles to all. I ate chocolate and ice cream yesterday. Mindless stuff-it-in-my-mouth type eating that I haven't done in AGES. I can tell I'm stressed. We got daughter's car picked up from one car repair place and to a body shop for welding repairs…
  • Good morning, ladies! Wow, I missed a few days and there are 7 pages already in August!! I'll just jump in from here and won't worry about trying to catch up. I didn't have a healthy eating weekend but *shrugs shoulders* it won't kill me. Back on plan today. I decided to add a half scoop of protein powder in a shaker in an…

Gayle, happy anniversary!!! Couldn't fix the zipper on the dress, which is a shame, because my DD picked it out for me. It's a long…
  • I'm two pounds toward the 10 pound goal!!!!!
  • Morning, everyone. Hi, Gloria, glad you are here! Sounds like you have a lot going on. Getting healthy for yourself will help you feel better and care for your young ones, too. This has already been a hard week, and I've only been at work for an hour! I was awake several times in the night and woke up for good at 3:00 a.m.…
  • Hello, Ladies! Hope all the aches and pains are better. Sounds like many of you had some adventures yesterday. I’m 51, and have lived in Virginia for 25 years now. First in Va. Beach, then near Harrisonburg. I’m down in Norfolk for a while now for my job. I’ve got three rescue dogs, one of which I adopted through a program…
  • Popping in to read posts and say "well done" to everyone. DH and I went galivanting today, walking around some early Colonial sites in Virginia. Got several miles of exercise for the week woooot!!!! Time for bed now.
  • Hello, everyone!! I'm getting to know you from your posts, and will be thinking of those dealing with health issues or child issues. Also, wishing safe travels to those on the go. Thanks for the encouragement about the beginnings of my restart. I will use the slacks that are snug right now as motivation, and let you all…
  • Good morning everyone. Lori, congrats on a pound lost!!!! Way to go!! I hate the first week or so of a 'restart': I'm working on planning my meals and getting to the gym. But then this morning I packed a pair of slacks in my gym bag that were snug when I put them on. Too late to go back home--I have to walk around trying…
  • Leaving a short intro paragraph to say "hello, everyone!" I'm coming back to MFP after being very successful losing weight two years ago. I'm catching myself before I get too far gone this time. I've let about 15 lbs. find me again. Most of my smaller clothes still fit, but I want to go back to using MFP to be accountable…
  • I'm in!!! I'm not going back to where I was before. No way!!!!!
  • Hey, Congrats to you, on your success so far! I hear you about the exercise--I get tired of having to slog through the cold, and then get lazy. I'm learning a lot in the MOVE group, but I need to have some one-on-one sessions with the dietitian. I'm getting confused.....do I eat less fat? Fewer carbs? But then how do I get…
  • Hi Alan! Thanks for the encouragement. Do you speak from personal experience? Colleen
  • Hi everybody! I'm a Navy reserve spook (Intel officer), 23 years and counting. I was mobilized for 18 months in 2011 and 2012 and spent time in Afghanistan. During mob and after demob I gained a lot of weight (rather than becoming an alcoholic), and I'm now working hard to lose the last weight to return to military…
  • Hi, Rachel, I haven't joined any groups yet, and would like to give yours a go. Thanks!
  • Hi there! Saw you had Navy in your name, so stopped to read. I've got about 10 lbs. to go to my medium goal, and 20 lbs. to my long term goal. I'm working with a dietitian who recommended MFP and I LOVE IT!! I especially like being able to scan barcodes to log food. I'll add you, and look forward to encouraging each other.
  • Love this advice! I'm working on reducing sugar, also, and I'm feeling much better after almost a month of closely watching my sugar intake. I'm wondering, from all those years of ingesting all that sugar, and feeling so bad, what the documented negative effects of refined sugar are on the body.
