The bottom line is we are better at nutritional science now, than we were then. Each study we have adds to that base of knowledge. Which means you should be following current nutritional science, not old. Of course, it's true that the things we think today will evolve over time as new studies are published, but what we…

Atkins causes massive water weight decreases, which affects electrolyte balance in your body. Low carb diets offer no real metabolic advantage over carb diets. Eliminating carbs to lose weight is not really sustainable over a lifetime imo, and doesn't reinforce the fundamentals of weight loss and diet change. Which is IMO,…

brb.. using imagination since you've provided no relevant info in this topic.

Love your writing style and kudos to another great article.

You are not skinny fat, just skinny. Very little fat on your body at all. Definitely should decrease the cardio and increase the strength training all while eating enough calories to build some muscle tissue. IMO

That's up to you, but you could lose about 5 more pounds and I think it would tighten things up even more.

What proof do you have of this statement? Because everything I've ever read about says otherwise. Because fruits are "not proper" food apparently?

Insulin is not an issue while working out and eating at a calorie deficit assuming you are healthy. There are NO negative long term effects of sugar intake while being non sedentary and reducing calories to lose weight. Zero. In short, if you're dieting and healthy and working out, you don't need to track sugar. It has no…

Good tasting, high carbs, low fat. Great way to get your carbs up with a minimal amount of fat. A lot of bodybuilders eat them as a post/pre workout carb source.

I am sure there are already a bunch of people saying the same thing I am about to say. Meal timing is not really important in terms of losing weight. Eat when you want to, your body will balance it out.

Your macros look really good as well as your intake. Very impressive considering your size. Glancing at your diary the past few days I realize you eat a TON of fruits and veggies. Which is great, but eating high volumes of that food is very filling. You might want to increase your intake of low filling/calorie dense foods.…

Vitamin D3 Fish Oil Multi Vitamin Top 3 ^ IMHO.

The Primary Laws of Nutrient Timing The First Law of Nutrient Timing is: hitting your daily macronutrient targets is FAR more important than nutrient timing. The Second Law of Nutrient Timing is: hitting your daily macronutrient targets is FAR more important than nutrient timing.

Uh.. False (Unless you have some underlying medical condition). http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/nutrition/protein-controversies.html This guy wrote an entire book on protein.

Does the meat head even lift?

You could lift the maximum amount of weight you could lift 5 days a week for 3 years and not get bulky. Unless you ate like a horse and/or took steroids.

Fried rice at a Mexican restaurant? Is this real life?

You need to understand there are no "bad foods" for fat loss while in a calorie deficit. We ALL are counting calories here. That's why we are here.

Can you take a look at my diary? Interested in what you think. :)

I lost an inch off my wrist as I lost weight, so it's not completely full-proof.

Most people who are obese or morbidly obese think they are "big boned" or "thick" or have a large frame. In the end, when you get a low body fat, most people fall within a very small distribution of weight based on height. People underestimate their fatness. Some people are okay with remaining fat, but just being less fat.

This ^ However, to improve your odds of NOT having loose skin at the end of your weight loss do these things: Eat a high protein diet Do weight lifting/resistance training Drink tons of water Take a multi-vitamin Try not lose more than 1% body weight per week consistently. Age/genetics/fat distribution all play a role in…

Fixed quote - Edit: Perhaps if you're lactose intolerant. Or if you have diabetes... But if you're healthy and eating at a calorie deficit, trying to lose weight, the sugar present in skim milk is not bad for you at all.

I can't believe this topic has any controversy. All he said is that peanut butter is not a good source of protein for an average dieter for the calories. The calorie/satiating/protein factor is low and I agree 100%. Who can get full off of 200 cals of PB? With that being said, it tastes really good, and can be used to…

Sounds like you may be eating too much food. Muscle is gained over months and years. Its difficult to do for men on a diet. Women have it that much harder. Some people just are better at building muscle than others. It's all about their p-ratio, which is mostly genetic. Shedding the fat is largely a function of your diet.…

150 is a healthy weight for 5'9 woman. Fact is many people are de-sensitized to what people should weigh because everyone is overweight.

Too much protein? Nonsense unless you eat absurd amounts and/or not healthy. I just ate 160g of protein in the past 2 hours. Not an issue. Aim for about 100g a day. It's a good goal for most women who are dieting.
