Hi - I don't do Kundalini; my practice is vinyasa and the cless I've just started is Sivananda. But I have started strength training this month, so am learning what it feels like to integrate something my body isn't used too. I do weights twice a week, and the first week I was too sore to do anything but stretch on my mat…

I always enjoy your take, C4RL, and I think there is truth to it - though I didn't do any extra deliberate exercise, I certainly had energy to walk the hills, dance with my kids and run for the bus. And after the weight had gone, I found I wanted more strength gains - I know, its taken me while to actually do this, having…

Thank you! I started off in May, trying to eat healthily and doing 17 minutes a day using Sadie's Daily Om course (its the same 15 min but you get a daily pep talk, the video is on You Tube). I upped my practice slowly, and the first stone went quite quickly, I think by late July. Then I joined MFP and started counting -…

I reached my target weight (approx 2 stone loss) calories counting and doing core strength yoga, which I logged fairly high and ate back exercise calories. I did about 45 min core strength vinyasa yoga (Sadie Nardini) 5 times a week, plus walking, a bit for pleasure and bit to get to places (perhaps 2 hours a week). The…

Well done! Holding crow for the first time was a biggy for me too! I think the fantastic thing about regular practice is how once you have managed to hold an asana, it can continue to evolve. Happy yoga-ing :-)

Obviously I look better in dungarees and a sock hat though.

Lovely. Get out there. Now. (or when the weather is a bit warmer :-)). I'm 36 and wore a bikini for the FIRST time last year. What a bunch of scaredy cats we are x

Hey - just to say I lost 2 stone over 9 months watching calories and doing core strength vinyasa yoga (Sadie Nardini), the only exercise I did bar walking (4or 5 x 40 min session a week). Its a question of picking the right style if you want to shift pounds and gain flexibility..

Try 'do yoga with me.com' - there are tons of free classes, different styles and different levels of difficulty. I like Sadie Nardini also - she does some beginner classes on you tube that give you more body toning than gentler styles. And there is a MFP yoga group full of people more knowledgable than me!

Yogi teas do a liquorice tea and a 'choco' tea, both naturally sweet. Caffeine free and seems to make food you eat at the same time taste super good too.

Love Kim's yoga pilates fusion classes. She's so cheery even when getting you to work really hard. Doing a class with her makes me smile.

Core strength vinyasa yoga - mine went! But it took a few months regular practice... Check out Sadie Nardini on U-Tube. Good luck!

Core strength vinyasa yoga - fantastic all over toning, lots of free stuff on U tube. 17 min day for three weeks and for the first time in my life, I had arm muscles you can see (and no flapping!). Good luck and I hope you feel nice in your body soon.

I lost my first stone without calories counting, by eating whole food and small portions during the day, then eating what I would normally eat in the evening, but less, and trying to make my plate 50% salad or veg. For me, a lot was about changing portion size, eating slowly and cutting empty snacking calories. This may…

I read this recently too - as someone who only does yoga (vinyasa, mind :-)) and a few brisks walks a week, I wondered about my overall cardio ftness. I was reassured, but also interested by the additional impact of breathwork and meditation, both of which have well researched health benefits, I think. I do very little of…

You are most welcome :flowerforyou:

I log 324 for one hr core strength vinyasa which I think I based on another website. I doubt its accurate but I lost when I needed to and am now maintaining, and I do eat back most of my exercise calories. On other days I do yoga pilates fusion and log 117 for 50 min - so perhaps I find balance through a mix of…

I did the yoga pilates fusion intermediate class with Kim on this website - very lovely. She makes you smile even whilst holding stuff to shaking
-
Lol  well done you. Yoga rocks.

Thanks for this link - I'm going give the yoga / pilates fusion class a go later today. I've been really appreciated people sharing their favourite online stuff - I can't afford a class right now, but I'm starting to feel wealthy in yoga teachers and possibilities

Hi! 36 - 6 months of mfp and core strength yoga - weigh the same as I did at 18! Woot!
-
Hi all! I'm 5ft 5 and currently fluctuate between 123 and 127 over the week - I've logged as 124. I spent at least four weeks hovering between 127 and 129 before getting a little 'whoosh' down. I'm no expert but just keeping to what I had been doing worked eventually, though it can be dispiriting to feel you've ground to a…

I've not come across it, but I went to You tube, and there is an HOUR AND A HALF video uploaded. Quick, down load before they yank it! You've gotta love the internet, eh?! I shall give it a go, then have an opinion....

I haven't had a teacher for a long time, but from what I remember.... Personal attention and correction / encouragement. I started and quit a class recently as it was mostly led from the front, and with money tight, I kept feeling it was no different from using a DVD. Warmth and someone knowing my name. Knowing in advance…

When I have a cold, I like to lie on my mat with a duvet on top of me. And honey and lemon

I like that! I live in a house that's a building project and am halfway through a 6 year part time degree - I KNOW its my attitude that makes the experience positive or painful, but that's not always enough to shape my approach. So this inspires me, and I applaud your efforts to stay positive. When its harder.... my mantra…

Here's to kindness and respect on the journey :flowerforyou:

Thank you for directing me here! Nice to be amongst yoga friends. So tempting to dig around the forums here as opposed to tackling my'due in one week' college assignment  Perhaps I'll just go and stretch a little first  Is practice any less effective if used to procrastinate?

I love Sadie Nardini!!! Have only done core strength vinyasa since discovering her in May and dropped two stone as well as managing some wobbly but fun arm balances. You can see my biceps for the first time EVER! I used to get a bit sore around the knees and found she gives better alignment tips in her dvds which stop you…
