I have 70LBs to lose and just started back on MFP this week. I'm pretty self-motivating, but always good to share the journey with other MFP'ers, so feel free to add me :)

I am combining GI eating with MFP, to lose 70lbs this year. I have read a lot about this over recent years, and think adopting some of the principles whilst using MFP as a framework and support network should work well (I hope!) I am eating whatever I want to, just controlling calories via MFP, I just choose low/medium GI…

thanks for the link. looks UK focussed too :)

I agree with mabelbabel1. Eating low cal bread is so unfulfilling. Get some really good wholemeal/spelt/rye bread and enjoy the taste, feel full, and the slow release carbs won't have you craving in an hour :) If you only like white, try to get a properly made white loaf. Good luck!

That's real dedication. You look fantastic! Congratulations :)

It's a common misconception to think that eating less and less is better for weight loss. Trouble is our bodies just get wrecked if we don't eat properly.... MFP is great at giving us a target calorie intake to lose a set amount per week. You can choose how much to lose, but I'd strongly suggest you eat the calories the…

Agreed

as long as your diary's open too feel free to add me :)

thanks for taking the trouble to post this info. I always suspected a difference, but not such a wide difference!

Feel free to add me. I've logged on for over 75 days in a row, have an open diary and respond well to people who give and take support... :)

Greg I think just like real life, we all have different needs and expectations. I 'gather' people who I can relate to, who give as well as take (advice/support), and if people don't fit that then I delete them as friends and move on. I don't see any point in whining about things. So I am with you on this one, and haven't…

Sometimes things going on ones life can make us lose interest in things we used to enjoy. Fretting over your lack of desire won't help you, and sometimes logical answers like the excellent suggestions above just don't help. I'd look at your life and see what might be dragging you down and try and address it. However, what…

that is f*****g amazing! inspirational... congrats...

Damn right! (though I like milk with mine :) tea and coffee are great drunk as they are, I don't get all the flavours and syrups people add! But, to each their own ;) and by the way, Waitrose own brand loose leaf tea will give you a wonderfully rich strong cuppa...

2 ricecakes and a teaspoon of good honey.

haha brilliant!

Fantastic difference, well done!

Now THAT is bloody inspiring!!! Congrats!

When I wear my HRM I always take that figure. If I am just walking or doing stuff like moving boxes or doing DIY I take MFPs figures. I don't worry too much about the accuracy as I try not to eat calories earned by exercise, so it's just a rough guide :)

Greg that's a great question. Personally I'm here to lose weight and get fit, so if anyone can offer suggestions to help, alongside nice comments for the good stuff, I think it's valid. I apply that to others, and indeed know I have had positive impact on people by doing so.

What a great attitude. Agree 100% and congrats on the fantastic loss :)

Interesting thread. Personally I eat a lot of fruit and am always over on my sugar, though not often over on overall carbs. As others have said I don't worry about eating 'too much' natural/fruit sugar. I just minimise my added sugar by not eating processed foods/cakes/soft drinks. Seems to work for me :)

I'm happy to have new friends add me. 15 lost and plenty to go! (pounds I mean, not friends...)
-
lol have patience! It can take days to get a reply sometimes ;) I wear a fitbit, and all you need to do is log the exercise on MFP. If you put in the time you started MFP will relate that to activity recorded for that time on fitbit. Hope that helps...

Hi Greg the support is good to have eh? Quite a lot of folks I was friends with have stopped logging in, or were just taking support and not giving so I culled them lol, but feel free to add me mate.

From a man's perspective, whilst your thinking is totally understandable, you neeed to realise that YOU are not defined by your weight. YOU are defined by all the things that make you YOU (personality. skills, nature, intellect etc) That is what I guess your partner loves about you. If you can get your head around that…

bloody fantastic man!

I too love my fitbit, and use it as well as my hrm. It's a good motivator to just get more active, aside from 'exercise' :)

Nothing to add to the great tips above, but feel free to add me, and if you share your diary the community will be very helpful. Good luck :)
