  • Ballpark is 100 calories per mile.
  • For what it's worth, and as the husband of an ACE certified personal trainer, starting out on machines is actually a good thing. A machine is specifically made to force you to use the correct form for weight training. Free weights, you can very easily use improper form, not get the desired results you want, and most…

  • I heard this weekend "Kids can eat however much they want to". I said I was at the kids talent show last week and you wouldn't believe how overweight the vast majority of the kids were. Thankfully, my wife is really good about feeding the kids healthy and they are not overweight.
  • I design & build the factories that make the food and packaging ....... (architect). Kind of ironic isn't it? Usually a couple yogurt cups and something else small. Good protein in it and keeps me satisfied pretty well.
  • When you setup your profile with age, weight, and weight loss goals (I would recommend 1 to 1.5 pounds per week as a goal) and you log your food, it will tell you how many calories you have available. Hope that helps.
  • You've probably heard it before, but here goes: You really can't spot lose weight. Exercise will help tone your muscles and lose some weight, but it's more about eating less calories than your body needs each day. This is a marathon not a sprint. Set your weight loss goal to 1 lb. per week and keep track of everything you…
  • A life without beer? Let's not be foolish ....... The darker the better ...... Porter, Stout.

  • For me, tracking everything things that goes past my lips is the key. And I try to be as honest as possible. When I run out of calories for the day, I stop eating. Having a smartphone where you can just scan the barcode on whatever your eating is really helpful. A year ago I tried to lose 2 lbs per week, but I think my…
  • Good morning. Sounds like we're quite similar. I'm "down" to 238 now after starting at my high of 243. Time to take control!! I'm finding that if I track EVERYTHING that I eat helps a lot, then at night when I sit down after a long day it keeps me in check. If I don't have calories left, I don't eat anything else. So far…
  • I used to do this too. I used to skip breakfast for a long time. Now I've been forcing myself to eat more for breakfast, a reasonable lunch, and still have reasonable calories left for dinner. I'm finding I actually feel hungrier during the day now which means maybe my metabolism is kicked up a couple notches? I might even…
