Eating more than your goals allow

Hello, My name is Cherie and I have been using MyFitnessPal for a little over 5 weeks now. I have lost over 8 lbs and I am thoroughly pleased with this program.

My question is: I have been pretty good at staying within my goals. But sometimes there are foods that I prepare that have more sodium mgs and fat grams than I am allotted. I have some days where I am below the allowed amounts but some days are over. Is this really bad. I have obviously been loosing weight. And the amounts aren't too badly over the allowed amounts.

I have also changed my activity during the day from Receptionist type work to standing on my feet for many hours and active. I find that I am hungry and don't want to starve myself just because I am at my calorie goal.

I am thinking that if I keep it in moderation that being over on some days isn't so bad.

Just wanted to see what some other members think about this. Thank you for your feedback.

You could change from sedentary to lightly active or the step above that since you are up and active all day. That'll up your calories while accounting for your daily lifestyle outside exercise for a purpose.

As for sodium and fat, watch sodium if you need to for health reasons. You are talking about fitting your fat macro-some people love IIFYM but isn't necessarily necessary for you to lose weight.

Stick to what you are doing, just up our daily activity level so you aren't starving from being active all day. 8lbs is great progress so far!

You should change what you're eating to find it more satisfying. More protein? Whatever works for you. I would not recommend the excuse of "it's okay some days right?" In my opinion, that's setting yourself up to not head in the right direction. Your 5 weeks in. What about 5 months in?
  • Thank you for the advice. I did change my activity on my profile but it didn't change my calorie intake etc. I will stick with what I am doing and just keep an eye on my intake levels. I am trying to get more protein but some of that comes with Fat and Sodium. So I am experimenting with what will be the best.

Thanks again and I hope you have a great day.
