I'm totally not bikini ready - 3 children in close succession have put paid to my tummy ever being shown in public again! But I am wearing shorts this summer for the first time in years. And I don't feel anywhere near as self conscious in a swimsuit as I used to.

I went down a dress size roughly every 15lbs. Some items of clothing, eg t-shirts, I made do with until I had dropped 2 sizes but I found I needed to buy new jeans every time I dropped a size otherwise they looked silly. Definitely not too old. I learnt to swim as a child, but hated it and never learnt properly. Last year, aged 34, I took a course of adult improver swimming lessons - now I swim lengths and love it. My biggest regret is waiting until my 30s to do it.
