I suppose I do have goals in terms of exercise - I aim to do 3 sessions of yoga per week, swim at least once a week and walk/cycle 75 miles every month.

Height: 5'6" Age: 35 Highest weight- 210 lbs not pregnant, around 230lbs pregnant. Current Weight- 159 lbs Lowest weight- 159 lbs now - this is the lowest I have ever weighed as an adult Goal weigh- 154 lbs I think, but it may change when I get there.

Wow these pics are inspiring! Here is mine. 51lbs lost so far, not quite "there" yet, but almost

Maintenance just isn't very exciting though, is it? When you are losing you have the excitement of seeing how much you have lost each week, which keeps you focused. You don't get that in maintenance. I'm interested to know what kind of goals you set yourselves (other than not putting any weight on!) when you are in…

On the road. I am 5'6" tall. I'm not sure that I could keep going for much further than 3 miles maintaining that speed, but I can do 3 miles on the flat in 36 mins. That is serious working up a sweat walking though. I walk pretty quickly normally though, my 1 mile walk to work (which is partly uphill) takes me less than 20…

I am confused by why so many of you are surprised and/or skeptical at the idea of walking 3 miles at 5mph. Personally I find walking 3 miles at that speed a whole lot easier than running the same distance and speed.
-
Another interesting article, thanks. But your 100 calories per mile estimate is actually higher than the one my running app gives me! It estimated my 3 mile run this morning as having burned 244 calories. I weigh 160lbs.
-
That is what I'm thinking... But in terms of health and fitness, if a person finds it easier to sustain walking at 5mph than running at 5mph, is it better to walk and do it for longer/further?
-
It is the difference in motion that I am wondering about. Obviously when I walk at 5mph my arms are swinging and my whole body is involved in the action, but I know when I run I pick my feet up higher.
-
Thank you, a very interesting article to consider.

Yes I can.

Sorry, am really late to this challenge this month! Life has been getting in the way... Anyway, I'll go for 75 miles again this month. I have done 18 so far, including a 3 mile run this morning.
