A lot of times, I just use lite salad dressings for marinades. Lite Italian (or fat free), lite raspberry vinagrette, or mix 2 Tablespoons each lemon juice and soy sauce (add garlic too if you like). Try whatever strikes your fancy until you fid what you like best.

Thank you. I try not to slip backwards...always forward.

I use reduced sodium chicken broth to cook the cauliflower in and then add 3oz neufchatel cheese and whip it with a mixer. I have served this at Thanksgiving to family members who hate cauliflower and they did not even know it! If you try this and still don't like it, you can mix it with mashed potatoes and still get some…

I know what you mean. I have had many years of trouble and used comfort food to "treat" myself trying to feel better. Now I have made the decision to do something about my weight and change the way I eat and deal with problems from now on. The thing is that lately I am eating below my calorie guidelines (as given by FB)…

I also am allergic to eggs. For breakfast, I make breakfast burritos minus egg, lite turkey sausage with 2% fat american cheese on a sandwich thin, or peanutbutter and lite strawberry cream cheese ona whole wheat bagel or waffle. If I bake muffins, I substitute 2 tablespoons of yogurt for each egg required or you can find…

I got a recipe book off Amazon.com called Once A Month Cooking. It gives the shopping lists and menues for two one month sessions and a low calorie two week session. You shop one day, cook the next and you are done til the next month. Just follow the step by step instructions given with the recipe lists, package in…

Glad you have lost enough weight to cause a flap! (Sorry about the pun.) I have a little one but it gets infected during the summer. One day as I was putting on my deodorant/antiperspirant, I thought, "Hey! This is to dry up excess moisture!" So I tried it on the pouch and under my breasts where I sweat a lot. It has been…

Break into pieces and put in a big pot. Add 4-5 peeled and sliced potatoes. Pour 1 quart of chicken broth over it and bring it to a boil. cook 15 minutes. Drain off all but 1 cup of broth and save to make gravy. Mash with a potato masher. You now have a substitute for mashed potatoes that is lower in calories. I add 2…

Funnel cakes are essentially pancake batter dripped through a funnel into hot oil and browned. I would think that if you have any low cal pancake recipes, they could be used for funnel cakes.

You didn't say if you had access to a microwave. If you do, just take a portion of what you had for dinner the night before. I do that often. Also, substitute lettuce for bread and make asian wraps. Whole wheat tortillas are good too.

I'm not really sure but I think you can substitute non-fat Greek yogurt for the marscapone or at least half of it. I substitute it all the time for sour cream and heavy cream in most recipes. You can probably reduce the amount of sugar you use. I also do this to my recipes without hurting them much except they are less…

On your food page is a tab on the bar for recipes. You can enter your own recipes for use in your food diary. Just follow the directions there and remember to hit enter after each ingredient. It will ask you how many the recipe serves and then the site will calculate the calories, carbs, etc for you. I am not computer savy…

Take your roasted tomatoes and blend them into some neufchatel cheese. Good spread on toast or on some multigrain crackers as a snack.

Turn off the tv or do what I do: record your shows and dvr through the food propaganda. I start the day with a glass of water while I make breakfast. Then I keep a glass of water on the counter so evrytime I go to the kitchen, I sip it while I try to figure out why I am there. I limit my meals to one serving-no refills.…

Go on Amazon.com and find the book, "Once-a-Month cooking"by Mimi Wilson and Mary Beth Lagerborg. It is chock full of recipes designed to be frozen. There is a chapter of low calorie meals. Depending on the size of your family, it may be less than once a month. There were 3 of us and I divided the meals so that I only…

When using dried beans, rinse them and then soak them overnight in enough water to cover + 1 inch and I add 1 Tablespoon baking soda to reduce the amount of gas. In the morning, rinse again and place in slow cooker with enough water or stock to cover. Add 1-40z can tomato paste, 1 medium onion chopped, 4 cloves garlic…

I also buy whole pork loin when it is on sale for under $2. Cut it yourself into chops and roasts (2 roasts from the ends and about 15 chops from the center.) I cook 2 whole chickens and serve with stuffing, mashed cauliflower potatoes and gravy. take the leftover stuffing and put in a caserole dish sprayed with Pam. Tear…

I feed 5 people (including one maale teenager) for less than $600 per month. I use a lot of your ideas but I make my own Bisquick. Easy and cheap. 1-5pound bag of self-rising flour 1 stick of butter flavored crisco 1/4 c. buttermilk powder. Cut all ingredients together with a pastry cutter or two butter knives til it looks…

My family loves watermelon. I cut it into 1 inch cubes and we eat that while watching our favorite movies.

I make 5 minute Krispie treat bars and eat those. 10 0z package of marshmallows 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter 2 Tbsp butter Microwave on high for 2 minutes in a large microwave safe bowl. Meanwhile spray a 9x13 pan with Pam butter flavor and set aside. Remove marshmallow mix and stir to blend in peanut butter. Add in: 1/4…

I am allergic to eggs so breakfast for me is never like anyone else's either.

I take the leftover mashed cauliflower, add an egg and 1/2 to 1 cup biscuit mix to it(depending on how much cauliflower you have left. Dough should be fairly thick like pudding). Drop onto heated skillet that has been sprayed with Pam, shape into 3 inch pancakes and brown 3-4 minutes per side. Serve for breakfast, lunch or…

Repent. Shake it off. Start over. None of us is perfect. We try and fail. Success isn't just reaching your goal. Success is failing, forgiving yourself and getting up to try again. If you really feel the need to "punish" yourself for being "bad," go take a walk for an hour or find someone you can help do gardening and yard…

Too much of a deficit for too long signals the body that you are living through a famine. The body will do all it can to conserve calories and send them to the parts that need it most (brain, heart). It will gear down and not release any fat supplies that may be needed by vital organs. 3500 calories per week is not enough…

I bought a flip book at the Christian book store. It is titled "365Days of Inspiration for a Healthier You" and gives a verse and thought for the day for each day of the year. I keep it where I can't help but see it daily.

How about baked tortilla chips and salsa? or gilled chicken breast cut into bites and served with lite buffalo sauce?
-
I got the calories wrong: it is 70 cals. Sorry.

I usually have a greek yogurt as my snack each day...makes my gurd tummy feel better. On chococraving days, I add 2 tablespoons of semi sweet mini chocolate chips. (I think it is less than 50 calories worth.) It is especially good with strawberry and vanilla flavors.

I don't really use a recipe as such. I just take a brownie mix, substitute plain yogurt for half the oil and all but one egg (2 Tablespoons yogurt per egg) and reduce the calories and fat that way. Bake as on the box. Nice plus..the brownies are moister and taste fudgier than if made according to the box directions!

There are five of us (one being a teenage boy) and we eat on less than $500 per month. I make out a list of meals that the children will eat and then make my list from there. I do my major shopping once a month-no soda- and junk food is limited to 1 pkg of chips or pretzels each plus we share 2 pkg of cookies. We do eat a…
