I eat strawberries every day on my oatmeal, this summer I have enjoyed them fresh from my plants. But the crop grows lean.... I'd like to get some at the Farmer's Market, but don't eat them fast enough for those big containers. Anybody know if they can be frozen , whole or pieces, without any suagary sauce?

mine is my first initial and last name backwards - my kids always think our last name backwards - snelf - is funny

I like the Lawry's Lemon Pepper or Tequilla Lime on pork. The bottle says to marinate of half an hour, but I try to do all day for a pork roast. My husband also inserts garlic bits throughout the roast and salt and pepper over the outside before bar-b-quing

To follow up on a previous post, I saw the Doc about the pain I've been having in my hip. The diagnosis is arthritis - in the hip and lumbar spine. The x-ray shows discernable degeneration. So, no more running for me! I had only just begun to run when the pain started. Now I'm back to walking and I can still ride my bike.…

what about sugar free or "simple" jams, would they work?
-
I agree, eat whatever you want, just stay within your calorie limits, and any others you have set for yourself. You deserve a treat!

When the Space Shuttle exploded, I had just pulled into the parkin glot at work. I just sat there, listening to the radio. When I finally went in, everyone was watching the reports on the tv. On Sept. 11, we were living in Singapore, 9/11 is my oldest daughters birthday, we had gone out to dinner and the girls were all in…

I just didn't crave carbs, I was growling stomach hungry!!!

I had diet coke over the weekend, one 10 oz glass on Sat and Sun each, and I was absolutely starving all day long each day. Today I'm back on water only and not feeling nearly as hungry. Has anybody else noticed this?

You made me go look at mine in the freezer. I buy them for my teenagers, and thought they were way out of calorie range. Nope, the ones I have from the local grocer - only 80 cals. Way better than most of the low cal ice cream I've tried. I'm sticking with Super Pops from now on, thanks for the suggestion...

Any advice on this would be appreciated... I started MFP in late Jan and began walking and bike riding. By the end of April I wanted to ramp up my exercise a bit and began to run a little. Just a short distnace at first, and I made sure I stretched and warmed up first. By end of June I was running 1 - 1.5 miles. My…

my family was just having this conversation on the 4th weekend, here's one not yet mentioned Not so bright His/her elevator doesn't go to the top floor then someone added - it never left the basment then someone else added; his buttons don't even light up

I'm also in the South Bay area, and it has been smokey - not enought to keep me from running or biking, but still pretty bad. At least the temps have been lower this week! I'm going to Truckee for the next week, will see what it's like up there. Hope this fire season eases up soon!!!

I took a knitting class, and I am making a baby blanket for my great-nephew who is due in August. It's a great way to avoid the evening eating in front of the tv - my hands are busy and hands need to stay clean!

You guys are awesome! I just started running about 6 weeks ago, and am planning on running a fun run on July 4th, only a mile. Need to take the higher altitude into account, but right now I can do 1 1/2 mile without stopping, so I figure I should be able to do it without walking. Would love to get up to more miles, how do…

When they were younger, my daugthers called everyone Mr. or Mrs. or Miss _(lastname)____. Now that they are teenagers, I've let up a bit, for example they call our neighbors Miss or Mr. __first name__. A year ago, when the eldest reached 18, I told her it was between her and the other person....

I am so happy. I've lost 20 lbs and was complaining that I hadn't really change pants size. So, I placed a pant order (I nead to wear talls, so I couldn't just go and try some on) and took the chance that the size 8's would fit. And they do!! I haven't worn size eight in about forever, at least since I was pregnant with my…

I understand completely - I'm down in San Jose, 100 is way over our normal. I've been drinking so much water I stopped counting. Perhaps Gabi is right, are you eating more salt? Sorry not much help, but the temps should start going down after the weekend...
-
We're normally around 75 -80 dgrees, but yesterday and today have been 100 :explode: I can't get myself motivated to exercise today. I don't belong to a gym, I walk or bike ride. I did ride yesterday but today seems to be a bust... Suposed to be a little cooler (90's) through the weekend and then back to normal....
-
Thanks for everything MIke, don't know how you can possibly get anything done with that cute little girl of yours...
-
Thanks Banks... it said my heart rate was at 96% max, but it didn't feel like I was working really hard, not a difficult ride just normal - I was breathing hard, but not heavy.

Yesterday I posted that I had gotten a Polar F11, and how much MFP under valued the the cals burned. Today I rode my bike 12 miles in 58 mins. (that's 12.4 mph) and MFP calculates the cals burned to be 552. Now, my HRM says I burned 1,052! Is that right? I'm sort of afraid to eat those extra cals, I've been consistent at…

ALL of you are so inspiring! I've just recently started to run (guess jog woulf be closer to the truth). Am trying to get up to 15 minutes without stopping!!! I Feel like a wuss!!
-
I know I can calculate the intervals less than an hour, but what I meant that was when I did do the numbers, they weren't any closer to what MFP gives. So you suggest using they calorie count that my HRM gives me, minus my BMR (calculated of course) for the best value of my exercise calories?
-
okay, so I thought about this some more... Subtracting your BMR, like in lizards example of 60, only works if your workout interval is an hour. When I did the calculations for the actual minutes I had worked, the numbers were still a lot higher than MFP. Guess I'll just monitor it this weeks and see what works fo me...
-
lizard, when I looked at the numbers with what you said about subtracting my BMR (daily divided by 24), the numbers were a lot closer to what MFP lists. No matter what, I'm only counting half of the cleaning cals, but I'll see what happens with the rest as I use my Polar more.

I believe I did the settinga correctly, age, weight etc - then did the 5 minutes resting test. DId I forget something...

I received a Polar F11 HRM for Mother's Day - they even let me pick it out myself. Anyway I wore it today while I cleaned houes. The normal weekly cleaning, kitchen, bathrrom, dusting, vacuum and mop. It reported that in the 1 hour and 51 min. I worked, I used 893 cals! Can this be correct?? If it is, I have been seriously…

My girls got me the Polar F11 HRM !!! (of course Dad was footin' the bill). They even let me go shopping (on Sat) with them to pick out the exact model I wanted - but they won't let me play with it until tomorrow! And my husband encouraged me pick out a pair of hiking shoes. I can't wait until Memorial Day weekend to go…
