I have been here since 2012, since the "good old forum days", through all the buyouts, and all the "improvements". Like so many others have already said, this has been my haven from the insanity of life both real and virtual. It has been my safe space, not because it was a fantastic calorie counting site (because that I…

I had this as well. Here's how I got over it. I put on the music on my little ipod, put earbuds in, and entered into my bubble of invisibility. Honestly, listening to the music helped to block out other distractions. And then focusing on whatever I was doing (without dying) distracted me more. And before I went to the free…

Is there any way you could offer to host her kids for a night or however long so that she could have time to do whatever it is that she wants to do? Sometimes alone time in your own house is a true gift. Something that lightens her responsibilities, even temporarily?

Exactly this. Every workout just try to do a little bit more. You aren't required to run a marathon the first time you lace up running shoes and you don't have to complete the video and be glowing and pretty in spandex the first time you try it. Don't give up and you'll get there.

Do you know what's really awesome? When you do it alone for months or years at a time but then people begin noticing and imitating you and what you are doing. You have the chance to make better decisions for yourself and along the way, you may be influencing others, all without saying a word.

This is just why I added you, you pretty thing you.

All you calling dibs will need to be interviewed by me first. Most excellent work my dear one.

Do we have an answer to the OP? I need to know because it's OHP day and I'd like to know if I should use the squat rack or not.

At my gym there are a mixed bag of ages and fitness levels. Do what all those other people said to do; do something that you will continue doing over the long haul. I do cardio on three days and lift three days. And the one thing you will need (besides perhaps a trainer for a little while) is earbuds and your favorite…

What JHC7324 said. I first walked into the free weight side of the gym ten months ago and was terrified. I was horribly self conscious and very aware that I was the only female there and using piddly weights while it seemed like everyone else was using massive weights. I focused hard on what I was doing, kept my earbuds in…

I adore your children. That is all.

Consistency. It works. Congratulations.

I agree with those who said to go straight after school. Then when you make it home to crawl under the covers, you can do so guilt free!

I was a resolutioner but sadly, also a procrastinator. So I didn't actually start doing anything until August and waited to join a gym later than that. They started their "holiday sale" on November 1st so that's when I joined. I'm not fast but I am consistent. Since then, I've been a regular.

Go slow. No, even slower than that. And keep with it. Maybe not every day but every other day is nice. Cross train on those other days. Don't give up and don't compare yourself with anyone else. Go a teeny bit longer tomorrow than you ran yesterday. Still going slow.

I like this advice a lot. I started running in December and because I'm built like a gnome, run for time, not for speed. I built up endurance by adding a minute or so every week at the same speed. I'm now to the point where I can run a little faster and a lot longer. NEVER compare yourself to anyone else.

We didn't grow up with ma'am or sir but please and thank you are are requirement. As is genuine gratitude. It was pretty easy to teach my daughters this because if they weren't polite, they didn't get what they'd wanted. And we had a year of living gratefully (all three of us) and I still get thanked for making dinner…

I like this. And I think this is the truth. There are lots of ways to communicate. Some do it with rainbows. Some do it with razor blades. Doesn't make one better than the other. I've found that you can make MFP pretty much anything you want to make it. Be open to learning new things and you'll be fine.

I like the way I feel the moment I take that last step and start cooling down. And also because I can.

I play mind games with myself. I tell myself that I must walk through the door and do something for ten minutes and then can leave. But 99 times out of 100, once I get started, I continue going with whatever the original plan was. And then as I'm leaving, I feel smug that I've managed to outsmart myself again.

I'm not sure, could you rephrase the question?
-
You are astounding.

This makes me laugh every time.
