  • Salut et bienvenue a MFP…c’est un site formidable! Je vais essayer de m’exprimer en francais mais franchement ca fait quelques annees que je n’ai pas vraiment pratiquer la langue… Felicitations d’avoir perdu 25 lbs! Je pese 155 et je veux perdre 20. Bonne chance! :)
  • I guess that when I eat back my exercise calories my total calories for the day are close to 1800 anyway (while my NET is 12-1300) ie eating 1300 NET is probably the right number for me to lose 1 lb per week???? If I factored in my activity and stuck with 1800 a day to lose 1lb, then I would not be able to eat back my…
  • I think it is genetic. If you are naturally curvy and it isn't just the (extra) fat factor creating the curves then you may not lose them. I'm busty and my cup size has not changed since I was 15, regardless of my weight (I've ranged from 135-155lbs as an adult).
  • That was a little rude, yikes. To the original poster there is a great thread for newbies in the message center somewhere- I think it is in the general weight loss help section or in the food/nutrition area. That should explain things for you. Good luck!
  • I did South Beach a couple of different times over the past few years and even though I lost (water) weight in Phase 1 it came right back when I started eating carbs again. No more South Beach for me, ever. Back to your question- give yourself time.
  • I just ranted about p90x yoga on my wall yesterday after trying it for the first time. I was appalled- good workout- but he is a horrible instructor. I've been doing yoga for a few years now and I couldn't believe he made a yoga dvd without giving decent insructions- not good for newbies at all. I had to frequently correct…
  • That is strange. You'd think she'd be excited and encouraging. Maybe you should talk to her about it!
  • I would try not to be too fussy/picky on a job interview. All the above suggestions are wonderful when you are eating out, but when you are with a potential employer if you come across as too picky it might give off a bad impression. So, while I wouldn't ask a ton of questions or ask for substitutions, I would probably…
  • Try some hummus, a cup of brown rice, nut butter, avocado, fresh fruits....they are healthy foods that will give you some more calories!
  • Do vinyasa/flow, power or Bikram and I think you will be pleased with what you see in your body. Try it, at least. If it doesn't do anything for you....move on. I love yoga and do it a few times a week.
  • Why don't you.....eat more?
  • Thanks, all. I guess moderation is key :) What is strange is that consuming all that fruit sugar left me craving chocolate this afternoon- I'm talking addiction crave/obsessively wanting it. I haven't felt like that in a really long time. I guess when my body gets a lot of sugar it wants more. Or maybe it was a coincidence.
  • Chocolate and pizza
  • I've been drinking hot water with a slice of lemon throughout the day and I have not been snacking at all....
  • Definitely not in the wrong. I feel for you, but also for your Mom. Sounds like she is very unhappy and she is expecting you to save her from that....which is spectacularly unfair since it seems like rather than trying to help herself she is trying to bring you under with her. Do you think she would talk to someone…
  • Please read this. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10665-newbies-please-read-me-2nd-edition Good luck!
  • You can do it! Just keep at it and push through even when you are disappointed. You are right, being a part of the MFP community is great (lol, I was thinking about how your lack of support from friends at home sucks and actually typed "MFP sucks" in my last post....this is the edited version. I was seriously down in the…
  • I drink white and green tea plain and I do count it towards my water intake- however if I have 24oz I'll only count it as 16oz (2cups). These days I am also drinking a lot of hot water with lemon!
  • Hard to say. Depends on what kind of restaurant you are getting curry at. North Indian? South Indian? Malaysian? Thai? Generally, stay away from the creamy dishes with coconut and milk bases (ask your waiter- or it is usually listed on the menu). Tandoori options are phenomenal, as are fishes. I like the chick pea based…
  • Start a regular yoga practice. Everything will firm up.
  • I've also stopped drinking (at least for now). I used to drink wine pretty regularly but realized I eat everything in sight when I drink- rich stuff . The wine bar in my town has amazing seasonal food, and my bartender/friend is more than generous with his glasses of wine...which means I have 3-4 glasses of red wine and…
  • You always put up interesting questions. I really enjoy white tea- it supposedly has the highest antioxidant levels because it is usually the least processed. Oolong tea is simply delicious. Lupicia sells my favorite teas. http://www.lupiciausa.com/Oolong_White_Tea_s/398.htm
  • http://www.yogajournal.com/shop/live_yoga_dvds/ Check out Yoga Journal's collection, above. I love anything by Baron Baptiste and Seane Corne- both are amazing instructors!
  • How about getting a yoga mat and placing it on the rug? Basically you just don't want to slip and slide and compromise yourself when you are in certain poses. My profile picture was taken in a yoga studio in India and we were on these straw mats on hard floor. Not super comfy but it kept my hands/feet from slipping....so…
  • I'd be ecstatic if I were you....it could be worse and you could be losing a lot less. 3lbs a week is a lot, maybe even too much for most people.
  • I don't know anyone who uses them....and I don't really trust Gaiam...I have a yoga mat they made and if I sweat even the slightest my hands go sliding when I'm in down dog. Not so good!
  • Welcome, and good luck!
  • Welcome! Why wait till tomorrow? May as well start now and be mindful of what you eat. Hard during the holidays, but still... Good luck!! :)
  • I agree, try to be patient and don't expect results so quickly. Give it time to work. I get jealous when I see people on here losing 2 lbs a week because my weight loss is sloooooooooow but I also only have about 15-20 to lose, so I expect it will take me a while to do it the right way. Hang in there!
  • Yesterday after your workout your net calories was 1092 (you burned all the rest of it off). So, you were short of your goal and MFP encourages you to meet that goal so your body gets the proper amount of nutrition. I always check my home page throughout the day to see where I am at!
