Yoga lover here! I discovered Vinyasa yoga a few years ago and it totally changed my life. Gave me much needed balance and serenity. I've been practicing on and off the past few years...I find i can never stay away for too long. Since I left San Francisco I haven't found a studio I like but practice at home with my dvd…

So inspiring! I've been doing yoga for a few years now and love it. In fact, I'm just about to embark on an experiment- my summer yoga challenge. Vinyasa yoga 6 days a week till the end of August. I will probably still go on daily walks since I love doing that in the summer but am turning my back on running/gym and want to…

What kind of yoga are you doing? I always sweat a lot when I do yoga and my muscles really feel the burn. I used to exclusively be a gym rat until I discovered yoga a few years ago. Try vinyasa or power yoga. Those are usually more rigorous than your standard hatha yoga. Your arms, legs, core, shoulders, back will all feel…

I read the book yesterday cover to cover and it is actually just for a handful of days - 5 for most people and 10 at the most if you are obese- that you cut out fruits and vegetables. I don't think anyone's body is going to suffer tremendously or irreversibly from not eating vegetables for 5 days (and i say that being a…

Check out Seane Corne or Baron Baptiste. They have great dvds and are wonderful instructors. Nothing beats a real class, though.
-
I totally agree. As a newbie you should go to a studio for a few sessions and then transition to a dvd taught by a good instructor (like Seane Corne, Baron Baptiste, Rodney Yee etc etc)
-
Seane Corne is a phenomenal yoga instructor and has some dvd's for beginners. I'm sure if you google you will be able to find. She is amazing!

I am 5'7" and look best at around 135-140. Anything smaller than that just isn't necessary. I like my natural curves!
-
I am accountable only to myself. When I screw up, I know exactly what I am doing and I either stop or make up for it. Ultimately I am the only one who can do the work to be healthy- no one else can do it for me so I don't rely on anyone/anything else to hold me accountable. I do, however, have a handful of friends who are…
-
Both! I practice vinyasa yoga. Baron Baptiste and Seane Corne have great beginner DVDs!

Me! I will send you a friend request. I'm an immigration attorney. :) I've found yoga and running are the best ways for me to blast stress....

Penelope Cruz or Padma Lakshmi!

I hate soda so never touch the stuff. Not a big fan of most juices so usually don't drink that either. Beverages for me- a cup of black coffee in the am, lots of water through out the day and a cup of tea in the afternoon. I also consume a couple of glasses of red wine during the week.
-
For in between means- Greek yogurt, hummus, whole wheat pita, plain almond milk, reduced sodium rice cakes....I don't really buy "snacks" outside of that. If I ever eat snacks it is when I am away from home and famished for whatever reason and then (if being healthy) I"ll try to go for mixed nuts, roasted almonds, or a…

I think that because you don't have a ton to lose it may be hard to lose 15 lbs in a month and a half. I guess you won't know until you try, though! Bon courage, mon amie!

I think the right question is will YOU not work? I don't see MFP as a diet or even a plan- it is a place for us to be honest with ourselves about what we are eating and how much we are moving and to get support from a wonderful community of like minded people. Yes, MFP gives you suggested caloric intake but you can find…

Eat Tandoori and tomato based sauces rather than the creamier buttery options when it comes to curry.

If anyone wants to move this to a motivation and support group with fun challenges I'm down for it. I'm just a little busy this week so may not have the time to create a group/new thread/whatever. A couple of you have mentioned it at this point so please feel free to start something...seems there are enough of us in the…

Thank you for this! I'm going to have to take some time to read it!!

Usually when I eat salads I list the ingredients separately so it is more accurate as far as calories go!

Well, ladies, let's do this! My plan for March: No chocolate (I'm usually a fan of everything in moderation but chocolate is like crack to me- so a big NO). One of my New Years resolutions was to eat veggies at every meal, even breakfast so I am continuing with that (unless it is the rare day I eat cereal in which case I…
-
Good luck!!! I am doing a 30 day no chocolate challenge for March(which will be HELL) and going to add Bikram yoga to my routine. Just have to drastically reduce my sugar intake, stop eating white rice (I'm Indian- it happens), and EXERCISE.
-
Clean eating and cutting out sugar sounds like a sensible way to go. Thank you for the input!
-
Jodie do you know how to do one of those threads? If so, I'll join if others are interested!
-
Oh my goodness so may friend requests! I am going to add all of you. Just got back on after posting my message this morning. So there are a lot of us in the same boat!! I could relate to many of your posts. We WILL prevail!! :):)

The reason they look that way is probably because they work out. :)

That is awful. That happened to me at the bank last week. I left my Blackberry on the table where I was writing out my deposit slip. I noticed within a couple of minutes that I had left it...but it was gone. Oddly enough after several hours of nobody responding to my texts/calls when we offered a reward over text someone…

I use measuring cups and spoons when preparing salad!

Eat the real stuff- not low fat, not sugar free, etc. And watch your portions so you can stick within your allotted fat for the day!
