Expectations

I want to lose 15 more pounds. I am 5'3 and weigh 145 pounds. I want to lose the weight by May 4th. That's 7.5 weeks. Is that reasonable? That would mean I would need to lose at least 2 pounds per week consistently for the next 7 weeks, I think that might be too ambitious, considering I just started this program and I lost about 5 pounds in 3 weeks. And usually weight loss is FASTEST at the beginning. But maybe I'm not pushing myself enough? Or I think I'm doing it healthfully and shouldn't try to lose it faster? I want to push myself but I don't want to have unrealistic expectations. Thoughts?

I think that because you don't have a ton to lose it may be hard to lose 15 lbs in a month and a half. I guess you won't know until you try, though!
    Bon courage, mon amie!

probably too high of expectations. Of course I don't know anything about your diet or current exercise routine, but you might be safer with a lower goal. It is also possible that you don't need to lose this much and you should focus more on inches. To attempt to lose more inches, increase your strength training. I think this would be the most beneficial for you.

Just don't get too down on yourself if you don't make it. Even if you don't make the full 15, you'll most likely be down at least 8 and that's amazing! Then you can take the summer to lose the rest and keep it off all winter! Nothing wrong with that!!!!

you may be high but you have to try. and even if you don't do it in 7.5 weeks you can keep trying until it does go away. but remember that the tape measure is your friend as you can not lose any weight because you are replacing fat with muscle which takes up less room and lose inches which sometimes is even better.

What have you set yourself for at the moment? Youre only on 1200cals a day, so you cant really go any less healthily.

As long as you dont get too downhearted if you dont reach it exactly because its a tough goal. Youre strong though!!

I haven't set any definitive goals at the moment! And then I saw on here how everyone on here has had a lot of success using being specific and I decided to follow suit! Maybe it is too ambitious. And is it a bad idea to consistently eat only 1200 calories per day for two plus months? What I imagine happening is that my body will get used to that amount and will slow down a little bit after awhile.

I think I'll set the goals now optimistically, with an asterisk for modifying them if I start to not meet them on time!

Another good suggestion: tape measure. I will be buying one of those when I get paid :)

I started thinking about it... I hovered around 140 last summer for the most part, sometimes at about 138... honestly it's been a few years since I've even been 135... and I don't remember being under 135 since I was a teenager... I'm going to AIM BIG but take it slow! So my amazing goal for May 4th 134.9... ten pounds is totally doable!!! and then I can lose the rest slowly but surely ;-)

My first goal dates (each two pounds is set for 10 days)
    3/19 -- 143 pounds
    3/29 -- 141 pounds
    4/7 -- 139 pounds
    4/17 -- 137 pounds
    4/27 -- 135 pounds
    5/4 -- 134.9 or under!!!

I think it is possible but won't be a real change...as your might hae the 15 to lose but your are close to that range of being "god"...I would just do the best to make the changes that you think you can live iwth your whole life and if you have only lost 10 instead of 15 I know you will still look reat.....feel great...rock a bikini if you want and be able to maintain the changes you have made
