That's great! :) I get sore after doing Jillian's videos as well.
-
I'm starting Ripped in 30 today! :) I plan to do it 5-6 days per week.
-
I eat 1650 a day, and generally I'm not far under it. If anything, I'm working really hard to hit as close to that number as possible instead of getting careless and going over.
-
I've done it twice, and I always lose weight and inches. It's hard, but you get results and watch yourself improving every time you do it.
-
That's because it's far too little for someone your age. You should probably be eating around 1700 calories a day, if not more.

I am not a doctor, and it is not my place to diagnose you. But I've seen your posts and you seem very obsessed with your weight, despite being very thin. You're not fat or "skinny fat," and it sounds for all the world like you have an eating disorder. Please get some help instead of letting people feed into your issues on…

Awesome video! I wish I was advanced enough to do the moves, lol. I'm afraid I'm still mastering the basics like downward facing dog.
-
Same! For my goals, I'm finding I don't need anything else. I don't have much weight to lose, and yoga alone is making me so much stronger and more flexible. The idea of lifting heavy is becoming less and less interesting.
-
OP, I see where you're going with this and I agree. The subject of weight and curves always gets touchy here. The people at either extreme -- very overweight or relatively underweight -- feel they're being targeted as not being "normal" when that's not even the point of the discussion. And to the overweight people getting…

Why not? An intense yoga session can burn a lot of calories. I burn 250-300 personally, and that's coming from my HRM.
-
I log it with my cardio because it's easier and I don't know how it would translate to the strength part of the site, lol. But technically I qualify it as strength training.
-
I'm on Zoloft and Abilify, and so far my weight loss has slowed, but not stalled completely. You may need to up your exercise or adjust your calories, but you should still be able to lose. Is the Prozac affecting your appetite at all? You may be eating more and lessening your deficit without realizing it.

It's okay. You're so young, and society feeds us total bull with regards to body image and weight. Maybe you could try talking to your mom and dad first, they'll be able to help you find a therapist or make a doctor's appointment so you can discuss this with your GP. I don't know you at all, but you do seem to have an…

I like your attitude. :) I always relax a little during major holidays, and on a few random days when I just don't feel like eating at my calorie goal. My loss is a little slower than others, but I've maintained my sanity and been able to generally eat what I like and still lose.

If you're talking low weights high reps, there are a million DVDs. Jillian Michaels has excellent ones like 30 Day Shred and Ripped in 30. If you're talking about just weight lifting in the gym, I've heard good things about the book New Rules of Lifting for Women. I can't speak from personal experience, but everyone here…

I try to combine the two. If I know I'm under my calories and my appetite is weird, I try to eat at scheduled times so that I at least get in a breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If my appetite is okay, I just eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full, which generally means three meals a day and some snacks in between each.

I really don't understand how it's any of your business either way. Why not just worry about YOUR journey and what works for YOU, instead of stressing about everyone else?
-
If it did that, I'd be happy. I'm not really looking to build muscle, just to maintain what I have so that as the weight comes off, there's some nice lean, feminine muscle showing through. :)
-
Thank you so much. For me, 5lbs. is pretty heavy when I start out, sometimes I even bump it down to 3lbs. depending on which video I'm doing, but it's always about 15 reps or so, not 10. So I guess my next question is if what I'm doing technically isn't strength training, what are the benefits of it for my body? What are…

No, I don't. If I'm sick, I'm sick. I don't mind skipping workout days to let my body heal. Then when I'm ready, I get right back to it once I'm better. :)
-
Aaah, I see. Thank you so much, that makes sense. :) Stinks that I thought I was doing strength training and really wasn't, but I'll live.

I have the Polar FT4 and I love it! It goes on sale on Amazon a lot, the lowest I've seen it is around $60.
-
I basically do the same thing as you -- I indulge, but in moderation. I try to track everything, and burn some of the excess off with exercise. So far it's working out pretty well! I'd love to lose weight by Christmas, but i can live with just maintaining.
-
Not from what I've seen, lol. Seems like most people lift heavy and think you're wrong if you do anything different. But everyone has a different perspective on what's on the boards based on what they read and their own personal biases.

I wish I could link you to the thread I saw, but it was a week ago and it's too far gone. But there was a girl on here who started a thread about how she hated yoga and thought it was pointless. And a bunch of other MFPers chimed in and said yoga was useless in terms of exercise. Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean…

I wish I could help. :( I don't know any YouTube videos, but Rainbeau Mars and Rodney Yee both make good DVDs you can get for cheap on Amazon and other websites. :)

Any exercise gets my mind off my troubles -- the endorphins give me such a nice lift at the end that I don't feel so depressed. But lately I've found yoga to be the most helpful in releasing tension. It's like I'm breathing and stretching out everything bad inside me. Hope you feel better, by the way. :)

Sounds like you're just retaining water, partly as a reaction from the changes you've made in your diet, and partly because of your exercise. It will go away and you will see the weight start to go down again. :) This is a marathon, not a sprint, so there will be weeks where you stall for no reason. You're just starting…

I've done 30DS a few times, and will probably do it again in the near future. It did wonders for strengthening my arms and legs, and I toned up considerably in the short time I did it. I prefer that kind of strength training to heavy lifting, and I got awesome results from it.

I think I understand where the OP was coming from. I wasn't offended by what she said like many on here were. Everyone has their own reasons for weight loss, and they're not inherently right or wrong. But it is irritating when you see people losing weight JUST to be "skinny" or JUST for a specific occasion. So many of us…
