  • The one I go to measures HR on a stepper twice during the workout...BUT it doesn't work with weight training gloves (and I get callouses without them) and is also temperamental when it comes to sweaty hands/positioning of hands/ etc etc. So it can measure my heart rate as low at 80 (when I know it's more than that) and as…
  • We don;t have Thanksgiving here (thank goodness!), but I certainly won;t be tracking on Christmas day. One day will not put 11kg back. And, you know, obsessive much?
  • Feel free to add me..I have an open diary anyway and could always use advice. Mind you, if you are the type to eat less than 1200 and then wonder why you are starving/weak/moody/tired, I will tell you what I think and then delete you. I like people who fuel their body properly! Stats: 44, 5'9", two kids (aged 8 and 4), one…
  • thanks for your replies, everyone. Will check out your link Heybales...like the idea of eating more :)
  • Thanks all... I think I will try to include some heavy weight (I have some dumbbells) and then work towards TDEE. It's kind of weird to be at (or near) maintainance.. Let;s hope at 44, I can get stronger than I was at 24 (always been naturally thin - till I gave up smoking aged 30, and then had two children - but never…
  • For me (ex-carbaholic) lowering my carbs in favour of fats/protein seems to = feeling fuller for longer on the same amount of cals. So less likely to binge. I *try* to keep macros at 40/30/30, but most days it's more like 50/25/25 - still a lot better than when I started tracking them!
  • I've been doing Curves since April and I mix it up with dumbells at home and regular cardio (long, brisk walks on the beach). It has been a great place to kickstart my exercise but I must admit when my year runs out, I will probably head to a gym that offers free weights etc. The key with Curves is to work hard on the…

  • I would have no energy for exercise on that few cals. So maybe eat something and then run :)
  • I just had a quick look at your diary too, and apart from the other poster's comment about a ridiculous amount of processed food, I am wondering where the veggies and fruits are? You are way under on fibre for the days I checked out...so, the sodium = water retention and the lack of fibre = um, irregular bowel movements :)…
  • Move on - but maybe take it as a sign that your body does not like you only feeding it 1200 cals a day in the long term. You are already slim, try upping the cals and doing more exercise instead.
  • Also, it pays to remember that if you are awake for 24 hours, you are likely burning a lot more calories than those of us that are asleep for 8/24 hours!
  • It's great that you recognise this, but as others have said, please talk to doctor and/or nurtitionists. I would not limit calories of a child without medial supervision. Kids need good fats etc for brain development and more. Both my kids are big for their ages. My 8.5 year old son - who is tall (towers above other kids…
  • That I didn't have to eat "diet" food in order to lose weight. I already knew about white wine spritzers :)
  • Good stuff - except I refuse to believe that dairy is bad for you! Or, at least, I don't care. Cheese is da bomb! (and the main culprit on the days I fall off the wagon)
  • Great thread, so I will add to it :) Age: 44 Heigh: 5' 9.5" SW: 80kgs (176 pounds) CW 69 kgs (152 pounds) GW 68kgs (150 pounds - nearly there!), although like others, concentrating now of strentghening, rather than losing My heighest weight (non-pregnant) was 85 kgs (187 pounds) in my early '30s and was a result of giving…
  • Set it for a pound and don't give yourself time frames that will give you a hard time. As many people have said - this is a lifestyle change. A marathon, not a sprint.
  • I started upping both my cals - 100 the first week, then 50 and 50 - and my activity levels when I hit my last 10 pounds. It's worked well with just three pounds to go.
  • If you weigh 215 at 5'3" you probably need to eat a little more. What goals have you set? Remember, it's not a race....it's a lifestyle change. Check out http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ and set it for a 20 per cent reduction - see what happens. Don't know how old you are, but I plugged in 30 years plus "desk…
  • Adelaide, Australia here. And my profile pic is the beach about 10 mins walk from my house :)
  • Very glad that I like my chocolate and my nuts separately... so to speak...
  • Hi all, I'm Nicole, in Australia. I am 44 (eek) and have an 8.5 year old and four year old. I just lost 10 kgs and saw a number on the scale yesterday that I haven't seen since my eldest was born. Yippee. And I have lost the weight while eating plenty of lunches (and drinking the occasional wine). Still wanting to lose a…
  • Yep, I'm eating more and getting hungrier. Still staying within cals, but it's. Weird that I could do it when I was eaten 200 cals less!

  • Add me if you want. I would kill someone if forced to net 1200 cals/day
  • Mine is public - but I eat a lot more than 1200 (1600 net) :)
  • Click on the food tab above then database ;) There is lots there...
  • I use this website .... http://www.veg-world.com/articles/cups.htm Although I note it doesn't have pepitas. But this http://www.personal-nutrition-guide.com/pumpkin-seeds-nutrition.html tells me a 1/4 of a cup is 175 cals...
  • i don't eat red meat and my husband is vegetarian (which means our dinners tend to be vego) and I've found that I have needed to supplement with shakes/bars reasonably regularly. I'm really trying hard to reduce carbs (from about 70 per cent - carbaholic here!) and up protein, but without the shakes and bars, I struggle to…
  • Ha - I am always over my fibre goals....the side effects can be somewhat disconcerting :)
  • No idea, but it's what "they" always say (I'm reading a book called "Lose the last five kilos" - I think I might throw it out the window!
