Glad to know I'm not alone. MFP hasn't been synching with my charge 2 for more than a week. I can sometimes force sync, but disconnecting and reconnecting the app. But that doesn't always work. It's obvs an issue. Would be good if they fixed it ...

No need to weigh everyday, you will go insane if it goes up (because weight loss is not linear) . Weigh once or twice a week.

You are already a legend in my book - as is your brother. Happy to take my place in your cheer squad.

You are going to get differing opinions on this - so here's mine. I work at home as a writer. So spend a lot of time on my *kitten*. But I also do chores, shopping, walk kids to school etc. I have mine set to lightly active and eat back most exercise cals (from heart rate monitor). Even if you have a desk job, you are…

I'm 5'10 and nearly twice your age (which means my BMR would be much less) and I maintain around 1800+exercise. When I am trying to shift a couple of kilos I go for 1600 plus exercise. When I first started MFP I was eating 1200 + exercise and hungry ALL THE TIME - plus stabby and *****y. That lasted about two weeks before…

I use HRM - I know it's not exact...but it's better than nothing.

I am 45, 5'9" and lost 13 kilos in the second half of last year. I have mostly kept it off (going up and own a couple of kilos every now and then. I was eating about 1600+exercise cals when I was losing. I do a mixture of cardio and strength training to maintain LBM ... more LBM means your body burns fuel more effectively,…

Where did I say you can't lose weight netting 1200 cals a day? Quote please.

And eating unflavoured geltine for breakfast. WTF.... To the OP. The main issue I see with younger women eating less is that when they get older (ie my age) they have stuffed their metabolism so much, and have minimal lean muscle mass, that they a/ have to keep eating like a sparrow or b/ the middle age spread takes over.…

I lost 9lbs 9 in one day in 2004 and 8lbs 13 four years later. I win :)
-
Seriously? that's all? With all the previous posts etc I thought you had been convinced to do this the healthy way. That can't be more than about 1000-1200 cals.... No wonder you have a headache. Eat. More.
-
No,but you are likely to get weaker than you already are. I would suggest a smaller deficit. 10-15 percent. Why starve yourself and lose lean muscle for quick weight loss when you can eat more, maintain muscle and lose more slowly?
-
OK, here is what I have learnt the hard way. Your metabolism will naturally slow down as you get older...do you really want to give it a boost by not fueling it while you are young? Do you want to eat 1200 forever? Do you want to lose lean body mass as you lose fat? Do you want to increase your chances of osteoporosis…

Unfortunately, for some of us, all we can keep down in pregnancy is icecream! And morning sickness means we can barely move off the couch. I actually lost 7kgs in my first trimester with my son :)

Ignore it. I don't even bother clicking that button anymore!

I'm 44 and pre-menopausal and I recently lost weight with the TDEE- 20 percent approach (slowly upping to TDEE - 10 per cent and then 5 per-cent). Incorporated both strength training and cardio. Now I have lost the weight, I want to do more heavy lifting to try and retain as much lean body mass as i can while I age. My mum…

FYI - you mention you have been more depressed and anxious - I understand this could be a sign you are not eating enough (or netting enough). And depression.anxiety could lead to binging. Why not try to ups cals just a little and see what happens - somewhere between the MFP number and TDEE - 20 % (I started at the 1200,…

I think I love you.

To the OP - just curious why you asked a question when you were going to do whatever you wanted anyway? The only poster you have thanked was the one telling people they weren't serious about dieting unless they ate 1200 or less. Tell that to the 20+ pounds of fat I lost while eating 1700 a day....... Seriously. Do what you…

I'm 44 years old and menopausal and my TDEE is around 2200. I lost weight (20+ pounds in four months) eating around 1700, and reduced BF% from 30-ish to 23-ish. So I say phooey to you and your slowing older metabolism! :) The key is in keeping your metabolism alive by not turning into a couch potato - I do some sort of…

I had really bad food aversions and morning sickness with my first and all I could keep down was: White bread; NutriGrain (sugared Aussie cereal); icecream and peanut butter. I couldn;t even hold down plain water (soda water was OK, plus full-sugar cola!) I lost 7kgs in the first trimester and was worried about the baby.…

I am guessing you have your weight loss set to 2 lb a week. I would recommend a less aggressive goal. Think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet, and if you lose weight more slowly, you are more likely to keep it off . Plus, it means you get to eat more, including the occasional treat.
-
Yes - lost weight, but was hungry and tired and *****y and stabby. Upped cals, and still lost weight around 1500-1700/day :)
-
Oops - I didn't even see that...<back in my box>
-
OK my first point in all this is always: How do people gain weight if they struggle to meet 1200-1500 a day now? My second point, which I think we are all guilty of when we start a weight loss regime, is the fear of eating things such as avocado, cheese, nuts etc etc. I did WW a couple of times and it's all about low-fat.…

Well...you asked for any thoughts.... I am seriously GOBSMACKED that anyone would inject pregnancy hormones as a way to lose weight. The HCG diet is unknown here in Australia so I was shocked when I first heard about it. Although, I must admit, I vomited pretty much everything I ate in the first trimester of both my…

You only have 15 kgs to lose - did you put your MFP goal at 2pds a week? If so, that is too much when you are this close to goal. try 1.5, or even 1pd a week.

Eat. More.

Add me to the chorus of "get it out" I had mine taken out about five years ago. The surgery wasn't a walk in the park and I had "discomfort" for a week or so. But on the upside, no more lying on the floor feeling as is there was a dagger in my back and an elephant standing on my chest. (Also, I got to a stage where my…
