You can find it under "settings" then "goals"

I didn't say it would prevent weight loss., I wont be curt if you don't put words in my mouth. (Also, depends if OPs long-term goal is to lose weight, or get healthy, or both)

HI Angie You don't have a lot to lose, so the first thing I would do is change your goal from 2 pounds a week to 1 or 1.5. Second when you eat the cals is not an issue - if you are hungry after your run, eat. If not, don't bother. It's not the end of the world to eat below you cal goal now and then, just don't make a habit…

Man I chase two kids around (one school aged and one still at home with me) and that is lightly active. You are totally OK!
-
If you have the sole care of a four year old, you're doing stuff like cooking, cleaning, laundry etc. I And picking up after the kid (I know, i have a four year old as well, my life is spent picking up after her and her eight year old brother. You're not sedentary :)

:) The sooner you realise this is not an exact science, the happier you will be. (Drives the data-freak in me nuts as well!)

Sorry, but this is a cop out. Anyone that can read (as in a recipe) can cook. Invest in a basic healthy recipe book and get started! AEdited: As the poster above said, there are great online recipe sites. Try http://www.skinnytaste.com/ for starters. Your body (and your taste buds) will thank you.

They is no magic number. Try the 1510, and if you still lose weight, up it a little more (you can set goals manually rather than going by MFP)
-
Sure, cos YouTube is a recognised peer-reviewed science journal, right?
-
True that. But I promise I can eat A LOT of veggies (esp salad) and if my points allowed it - esp if I had saved and earned enough during the week, I would have room for the doughnut as well .
-
FWIW I'd slowly increase to 1800 - maybe 100 every few days - and see what happens. Rather than upping all at once.

Hi there and welcome. Just a couple of points. If you only have 12 pounds to lose, try setting your goals to 1 or even .5 pound a week. Yes, it will take longer, but you will be SO, SO much more content. When I first started, I had about 20 pounds to lose, set my goals at 2pd a week, MFP gave me 1200 cals and I was…

A good friend of mine had lapband surgery a couple of years ago. She's lost maybe 20 kgs since then, but has had nothing but problems. She can't enjoy food, because or bad reflux and tends to vomit anything solid (can't eat meat, or bread, or pasta - but as she said, she can still force down chocolate and icecream, so the…

I've done WW on and off for a while (did it properly 10 years ago when I needed to lose stop-smoking-weight and then put myself on "points" for a few weeks now and then to lose a few pounds). Found MFP in Sept 2012 and love it. For a start, I was always HUNGRY doing WW cos it relies so much on low-fat options. I would…

My PB addiction ended when my son was diagnosed with an anaphylactic peanut allergy. I don't recommend this method - and I still miss it :(

Make sure you have had a good meal first - and I always take a handful of raw almonds to divert my snacking tendencies. Good luck. (I am a lifetime snacker and an order-and-eat-way-to-much-for-starters eater - in recovery! I still snack, just make better choices.)

I can always tell when my cousin has gone off his meds becaaue he posts inane **** on FB - David, is that you?

Hi there, just weighing in to agree with those that said you could eat more. You are young and you don't want to do permanent damage to your metabolism. I am considerably older than you, pre-menopausal and just 1 inch taller, and I lost 13 kilos (28 pounds) since late July 2011, eating about 1500-1700/day plus exercise…

Thanks - I do realise there is a number of processed foods on my diary :) But I also eat a tonne of veg and fruit (love them all) and most of our main meals - dinner - are home cooked (logged in the recipes), and we don't add salt. It's the cheese and bread that is likely the day to day culprit :) My husband is vegetarian…

See the 2300 is where I struggle - I'm under that maybe 3 days in seven... (You can change goals by clicking settings, then goals, then change goals, the "custom")
-
I gain that (and more) over four days at Christmas. I started back on MFP on Saturday and it's mostly gone now - which shows it was mainly water and my "food" baby. Just calm down, eat well, drink plenty of water and you'll see the scales shifting soon :)

dieters edema?More severe types of water retention are a common characteristic of malnutrition and life-threatening starvation; it can be so extreme that people will appear to lose no weight at all, as greater amounts of fluids accumulate under the skin. Jewish doctors often observed this phenomenon in the Warsaw ghettos…

You are undereating and your body is holding on to EVERYTHING you put in to it. If you eat more, yes, you are likely to see a short term gain, but seriously? At your height, you should be looking to gain a little, and work on your LBM instead of all this cardio. You are not an 18 year old girl with a body image disorder,…

Thanks for input people - I might check with GP next time I see her. Food diary is open... Christmas ham didn't help the sodium! Salt/greasy food has always been my downfall. Give me a bucket of hot chips and a cake and ask me to pick one, I will ALWAYS go the chip!

And don't eat the kids leftovers to avoid "wasting" food. A friend once told me that it is as much of a waste to eat something you don't need/want, as it is to toss it in the bin. I think most of my post-children weight gain has come from eating stuff they asked for, then rejected! But yes, I work at home around a four…

WAAAH - never seen those in Australia. Otherwise I would be heading to the shops right now!

This whole thing is not an exact science, and once you accept that, it's so much easier :)

I have someone on my friends list who constantly burns 1400+ cals doing 150+ mins of "walking very brisk pace 4mph" I call bull**** - no-one can keep up that pace for an hour, especially someone as overweight as she claims to be.
-
I must admit, I didn't look at the youtube link :) But I think 18-20 percent is probably more realistic. I am 44 years old, 5'9" inches, 148 pounds and currently around 25 percent BF. Now I am at goal weight, my next goal 22-23 percent BF (which might mean an incease on the scales, but hopefully losing inches. Someone…

You can probably find most answers here: http://scoobysworkshop.com/ But I would like to point out that 10-15 percent BF for a woman is VERY low, even for an elite athlete.
