Over 200 grams of carbs for a diabetic is too much regardless of your weight loss goals. Cut that by at least a third. Personally, I would recommend half that much. Under your "home" tab, click on "goals", then "change goals", then select "custom". You can then alter your diary settings. I would recommend that you set your…

Medical bills cost a lot more than nutritious food. You either pay a little more now for good food or a lot more later on health care. Whole milk has a lot more nutrition than skim. Don't be afraid of natural fats. Stay away from low fat versions of food. The fat that is removed is replaced with sugar and/or salt. Just…

A doctor has already suggested that you probably have insulin resistance. Your family has a history of diabetes. You can't lose weight. Your blood sugar levels fluctuate a lot. Go South Beach. You'll know in a month if it is working.

One way to cut down on carbs is to cut the portion size in half. Use 1 piece of bread for a sandwich instead of two. 1 piece of toast for breakfast instead of 2. If you have potatoes for breakfast don't have toast. 1/2 a banana instead of a whole one.

6 tablespoons is 1/3 cup. Add to that a banana and honey. How do you get that all on 1 piece of bread? Do you eat that with a fork?

I'll stay till NY. I won't set a goal for it until I see where I am on the 15th.

If I'm reading your chart correctly the first readings were taken nearly 2 years ago. Therefore, you really don't know how high your readings were when you started 2 months ago. Consider your current reading as your starting line. See where you are 3 months from now. Your fasting blood glucose reading of 100 isn't really…

Once the synthroid gets your TSH level into a normal range you should be able to lose weight.

Groats are also called "steel cut oats".

9/15 Challenge starting Weight : 279 12/15 Goal Weight: 255 Current weight: 258 Lost: 21 pounds. I have 3 more pounds to lose to reach my goal. I think it is possible. I will still strive to hit that goal by the 15th. I will also join you all in the 1 week extension and strive to lose an additional pound to make it an even…

My food diary is open if you want to take a look. You don't have to reduce to that level right now or all at once. In fact, while you are on medication, don't. Start with 25-30 per meal and watch your levels.

I'm battling this disease. The only diet that I have found to be truly effective is a very low carb, moderate protein, high fat diet. I have been very, very low carb since the beginning of May. My weight loss and the reduction of blood glucose had come to a near stall. Last week, after much reading, I've changed up my diet…

I'm going to agree that it may not have been a lactose intolerance but an intolerance for what was eaten with the dairy. On a keto diet the lack of gluten foods may be more responsible for the lack of intolerance symptoms.

The perfect oats.

Whatever "damage" you may have done isn't permanent (unless you let it be). Just get back on track today and push through any rebound cravings. In the future, remember that a gracious HOST does not pressure their guests to eat or drink anything.

Congratulations. You look great... younger and healthier.

There's really interesting info in the link posted in the thread http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/808077-jimmy-moore-s-n-1-experiment

Basically you want to go low carb, moderate protein and high fat. You can adjust the settings for your food diary by clicking on "goals" and then "change goals". I have mine set at 5% net carbs, 15% protein, 80% fat. I've been achieving about 5% net carbs, 20% protein and 75% fat. You can know that you are in ketosis when…

You didn't lose that achievement. You still accomplished a great run of logging. More than that, you've achieved better fitness. Losing that number hasn't taken anything of real value away from you. You still rock. WELL DONE!

I've always just mixed mayo and pickle relish.

I've experienced gall stones and, yes, it is the worst pain I ever experienced. Far worse than childbirth. The best advice I can give you is schedule the surgery as soon as possible.

My husband and I were given a basic starting routine for strength training by the trainer at Planet Fitness. We started on 6 different machines -- triceps, biceps, shoulder pull-down, chest press, leg press and ab crunches. Start with a weight that is not too light/not too heavy. On each machine start with 2 sets of 10. In…

My sister-in-law made that salad for Thanksgiving and used just a little bit of splenda. It was very good. I don't know how stevia would be. I can't use stevia as it gives me acid reflux.

You can adjust your goals on myfitnesspal. Go to GOALS. Click on "CHANGE GOALS". Select "CUSTOM". Set your carbs at 5%. That is the lowest it will allow. I recommend you set your protein at 20-25% and your fat at 70-75%. I also suggest that you go to "FOOD". Click on "SETTINGS". And have it track fiber for you. Then…

Welcome to the group. After a blood sugar count like that I am especially glad you are with us.

Day 3 is always the worst. My best advice is to plan for day 3 and 4 to be on days you don't have to do anything or see anybody. Call in sick. Keep your eye on the prize... by day 5 you should feel fantastic. A lot of it is dehydration and low salt. So, yes, drink lots of water and broth. Don't worry about calories for the…
