  • I brown, with a little flour, browning is always worth it in my book
  • I'd say if you don't want to get wet find a treadmill. I lived in an area where rain was in the forecast 90 percent of the time, so I got over it and learned to enjoy rainy runs, I find as long as my shoulders stay dry I am fine, even when its chilly. Wearing gloves would help you feel warmer too even if you do get a tad…
  • When I finished an 8 mile run and thought, that went quick... thats when I knew.
  • Grew up with Kitties, and after graduating from college I adopted Grace. She was about 6 months old and so cute! Now she is a four year old, fat, happy couch kitty. Although my boyfriend and I often joke that she is more of a Dat... she has a lot of dog like quirks. She drools, a lot, loves belly rubs, and can't meow…
  • I've got the 210, its a great watch, but not waterproof
  • I grew up eating it instead of the real stuff, my Dad is allergic to pork, it makes him really sick. So I don't mind it. But I can see your point. Sad that you don't like bacon though... missing out.
  • Anything you eat for lunch or dinner can be breakfast, it doesn't have to be traditional breakfast food That being said I like English muffin with a small amount of cream cheese and jam/fruit preserve oatmeal because you can put just about anything in it to mix up the flavor small amount of yogurt with my favorite…
  • Random 5ks on campus, one this weekend. Half marathon Nov. 24th.
  • climbing, you'll have an iron grip in no time, or failing that a grip board/hanging board, most gyms have something of the sort. Failing that hang from a bar like others have suggested, only vary the kind of grip you are using. Work up to hanging from your fingers alone... it'll take a while.
  • I would if it weren't so far to travel in the middle of school
  • Yoplait is not true greek yogurt, try Chobani as was suggested earlier, or Fage, its got a nice creamy texture, not light, but not chalky. I personally like the plain yogurt and then I add fun stuff like frozen fruit, granola, my favorite breakfast cereal, honey can make it sweeter, with less sugar than the yoplait fruit…
  • Taking 18 credit hours, but 15 of those require me to be in a school a 15 minute drive, one way, from campus and then I go from there to work. I don't get home 'till 8 or 9 some nights. I get up early (usually about 6) and get a run done in the morning 3 days a week, plus two runs on the weekends and my boyfriend and I try…
  • I think the real issue here is not how you look at the gym, but your general self concept. If you feel it takes make up to make you pretty, its not gonna matter where you are you'll be self conscious. I never wear the stuff. I think I've done full makeup once for a wedding I was in, and mascara and some lip gloss on a few…
  • You bet it drives me nuts, just ask my boyfriend. I get really restless, to say the least. I'm not sure if tapering less would be harmful, I kinda doubt it But you could also try picking up something not running related for the last week, something with less impact maybe. I dunno, if you figure it out, let me know.
  • http://www.healthfulpursuit.com/2011/02/pumpkin-pie-quinoa-bake/ tried this the other weekend, I like more spice in my food so I went spice happy and ignored the suggested spices, but it was really tasty.
  • For races, (I do half marathons), I like a belt with one bottle of water and one of Gatorade, I try to switch every other sip or so, I like the gels and usually have one half way through, but I have to practice with them for a few runs beforehand. I've also used M and Ms and pretzels. You can eat pretty much anything…
  • You could dry bananas, need less of it because it is concentrated and they won't get mushy
  • I'd say take a true rest day, like no exercise (just regular everyday activities, if you have too) once a week for a while and see how that helps. My guess is that you think your resting, but your body doesn't agree.
  • chips, are salty things anyway. Can't stop if I start.
  • I've been told repeatedly that the Garmin 210 is a great first GPS watch, easy to work with and has all the gadgets. Its the one I will be purchasing when I collect the money...
  • This is a great plan for building a solid base. It has you running by time not necessarily distance, but I found by the end of it I was running further more regularly and that I was enjoying it more because I wasn't concerned with getting the right distance in. I started off on the shorter end of the time required and then…
  • Invest in a pair of running tights, they are awesome for cold weather, spendy but worth it. A pair of gloves helps keep me warm too, and they don't have to be fancy, just a 2 or 3 dollar pair of knit gloves is enough when you're running. Something for your head is a good way to help stay warm too... hat or otherwise
  • hmmm thanks for this, looks super simple and manageable. I might just give it a try.
  • Mix it up. Thats my suggestion. If you do the same couple of runs over and over again your body will adjust and it won't do you much good, training wise or weight loss wise. I've been using this great base mileage plan, designed to help build a solid base to train off of, no matter the distance. Its been great. I've notice…
  • Sounds to me like you have a pretty decent base and you could go for it as long as you don't have any expectations other than finishing. I can tell you from experience, the mind is more than half the battle with longer races, I went into a marathon, very poorly trained, my longest run being only 10 miles. I finished, and…
  • I would say plan a few meals each week, most recipes are for at least 4 people, so one recipe has the potential to feed you for four days, lunch or dinner. Several recipes equals some variety, which is nice, and most things freeze well. Then keep snack/breakfast foods around that keep well... cereal, oatmeal is great…
  • Sounds to me like you will be damned if you do damned if you don't. First step is to realize its her life, her body, and not your job to make it work for her. She needs to do that for herself. Sounds to me like maybe she wants it but isn't ready for the commitment required to follow through. Maybe encourage her to get her…
  • Running my first mudder this next weekend. Not sure how the mudder will be, but I've done two half marathons and a marathon. I would say first step is to make sure you can jog/run the full distance of the race you are registering for and can do it easily. Then add some cross training/strength training to help with all…
