  • Saying "If you're even the least bit educated" is on par with calling someone stupid. To each her own, why do we have to be judgmental here? coming up with and sticking to a 1200 calorie plan isn't easy for everyone. I have slim fast shakes in the morning because A) they're easy, B) they taste good, and C) they keep me…
  • 2 things jump out immediately. 1) not enough calories. 2) mostly processed food which is likely higher in sodium and lacking in fiber.
  • This is it. I had Thai a few weeks ago and ballooned up from the sodium and msg. Drink lots of water to flush it out and you'll be back down in a couple days.
  • This is interesting BUT all margarines are not created equal. There are several brands, Earth Balance for example, that have no trans fats or hydrogenated oils and taste great.
  • the Biggest Loser weight loss yoga is AWESOME.
  • I used an HRM to determine my own average for Zumba, then I entered it for an hour. Now when i work out, even if i forget my HRM I can use my own calculations to log it.

  • I've always had the number 140 in my head, which is right about in the middle of the healthy weight range for my height (5'5). As I've lost weight though, I'm thinking when I reach that number I might go a bit lower, perhaps 130-135
  • where are the fruits and veggies? If you are burning 800+ calories I'd suggest you should be eating back about half of them - so your total should be something close to 1600. Adding in some fresh fruit would help with that. If you are only netting 400 calories a day your body will hold on to those and your metabolism will…
  • 159 at 5'5 is definitely not obese, I'm not sure what BMI calculator you are using. I'm 5'5 & 157, and in the overweight category (haven't been in the obese category for at least 10 pounds). Anything below 150 is considered normal, so you're close to that! regardless of this, good luck to you and your mama drama!
  • after a couple months of yoga and pilates classes I can do it now without bending my knees. it feels great!
  • Most fruits and veggies are naturally high in fiber, are lower in calories, and fill you up. Pears have 6 grams of fiber, and a cup of raspberries have 8 grams! I aim to eat between 30 and 40 grams per day and when i do that I don't feel hungry at all during the day, even when eating only 1200-1500 calories. Fiber is a…

  • my best advice: get LOTS of exercise! the more calories you burn the more you are allowed to eat. I've been working out every day, burning between 100-450 calories. I also choose to eat those calories (some people don't) so i have a net calorie intake of about 1200 even though i eat between 1300 and 1600. it's the only way…
  • I'm a gym girl because I've never been able to stick with one type of exercise without getting bored, i need variety. I take spin, zumba, and pilates weekly at the gym and I do a yoga video at home about once a week. I agree that Zumba is a super fun way to workout and the time passes quickly!

  • I lost 30 lbs on WW and have kept it off the past few years. I was very motivated at first, going to meetings and having a group to share with. I then switched to WW online and had little success. I find that MFP works just as well (if not better) that the online version of Weight Watchers (and it's FREE!) However if you…
  • Santa Cruz, CA (Bay Area) Southcoast sweetie, I love Duarte's!
  • I started following a high fiber diet, and rather than counting calories i'm counting fiber grams. It's been a fun challenge to try to get 40 grams a day and I find i am choosing much healthier foods to make this happen. I can't use up my calories on kisses if i'm trying to get 5 grams of fiber in my snack! check out the…
  • ouch, definitely not the fun way. but is there a fun way? =)
  • Thanks for adding me! Just a quick intro - I'm a fifth grade teacher and i live in the bay area.... love baseball and sewing, and I'm a newlywed. Looking forward to getting to know you all. =) Emily
  • I know I missed the first week, but i'd love to join your group if it's not too late. I started on Jan 1 at 166.6 and as of Monday was down to 162.4. My goal is somewhere between 135 and 140.
  • 3500 calories equals one pound. Depending on how much you currently weigh and how fast you want to lose, MFP is set up for you to have a 500 or 700 calorie deficit each day. that equals 1 to 2 pounds per week on dieting alone. Also, what should be stressed here is that you are consistently running on only 800 calories each…
