I was here before about 3 years ago. I lost about 20 lbs and gained it all back. But I'm back on the saddle again. I have so many last straws but some of the final are: 1) I've been planning for the last 4 years to go back to my home country on a visit and reunite with old friends but I realize that part of why it hasn't…

Well I think the 6 SMALL meals a day is to prevent you from spacing out your meals so much that you're ravenous and then it leads you to overeating. I am not a nutritionist so I can't say anything about metabolism etc... I have just started my journey a month now and lost 12 lbs and I am eating frequently but NOT more. I…

I consider a cheat meal something that may have alooot more calories than I would normally allot to one meal: so for example, a meal that is 900 plus calories or something, is a cheat meal. I usually try to still remain within my calorie allowance when I cheat though so something 1600 plus would probably not make the cut.…

I like my skin, I have nice legs, I think my fingers are very "pretty" and dainty looking lol, I like my face in general, I think I have a cute nose, nice pouty lips lol, good eyebrows, dimples, a nice smile, nice eyes I've been told altho sometimes I don't see that one myself, but heard it enough to say maybe it's true…

You should be able to work whatever you want into your daily calories...so that it is not a "cheat". I think that even if it isn't your regular healthy food, it's not too bad so long as it is within your calorie allowance and you don't do it daily. I have found that as my eating becomes a habit, I actually can't really…

Weighing daily definitely helps me. I can't fool myself that way and I stay on track. When I weigh daily I can see the fluctuations and know where I stand and if I seem to be the same, going down or increasing by more than 2/3 lbs. I expect the fluctuations so they don't worry me unless it is more than 3 lbs and stays that…

I have a hundred lbs to lose. With that being said, I realize that it may take a good while before it becomes noticeable to others. I've lost 10 lbs thus far and feel a difference, my stomach is smaller, my clothes fit better and I am working out more and gaining a love for being active. My mom and sister say they see a…

I have no idea the rate at which you would lose weight eating fruit versus not, but I can surmise that eating a banana is not going to ruin you and cause you to gain tremendously or halt weight loss especially if it is not something you eat 5 times a day. You just have to try it for yourself to really see what happens.…

Pita chips? The baked version of regular chips? Also, I think they have brands of vegetable chips, I've never tried them though. Popcorn? (the non-butter, healthiest kind) Or, you can just portion out your regular chips into small ziplock baggies and take it with you so you aren't non-stop eating a whole bunch

It would depend on how I'm feeling that day....but I think 8/10 times I'd probably choose something salty and crispy

I will be exercising all day lol...well I won't overdo it, but definitely putting in 30 mins extra.

On the boat with you....had an AWFUL food day yesterday. It started at home, where it wasn't too bad, then I went out and shared a pitcher of sangria with my friend, I had calamari fried no less, and a Heathbar cheesecake (tapas size)....*sigh* I know I went over my calories buttttt I am backkk on it all week and…

Awesome! Keep it up!

Congrats! You have EVERY right to be proud. I have a loong way to go, but I already FEEL a difference in my body and have noticed small changes in how I feel and how my clothes fit and I am EXCITED! Maybe others haven't noticed but that's fine because I do and it just makes me more confident that with every little bit my…

I forgot about fried okra...OMG heaven! I haven't had those lately, but on the occasion I do indulge in them. I also like them cooked steamed along with steamed fish or in soup.

LOVE mushrooms esp shiitake and portabello, but any kind really. Green beans steamed with salt & lots of black pepper Zucchini prepared all kinds of ways, from steamed to grated and turned into patties. Sweet corn on the cob Eggplant is soo versatile and so good! Asparagus sauteed with lots of black pepper and some salt…

I think I was brainwashed in the past to believe that a "diet" meant you had to feel starved. Now I know that you can eat healthy, eat normally, feel full and still lose weight. I have proven that to myself after Thanksgiving and all this week as I had an engagement party and another dinner tonight that did include lots of…

I'm shocked that a serving of pasta is sooo small! Shocked that a slice of deli tukey meat is only 30 calories I'm shocked that whole grain fiber bread is like 110 calories per slice and is even more calories than some white breads I'm shocked that Dannon's Lite & Fit yogurt is only 80 calories but is in a bigger container…

I've always been under my calories...whether by 6 or 300, I don't try to save calories up, but sometimes it happens. I don't want to make it a habit where I think "Oh I can go over today because yesterday I had 300 left", because I'm scared that attitude could backfire, but I am mindful of the fact that if it were to…

I can't even begin to imagine, especially since earlier this year I was in college and I felt like I ate 24/7. The cafeteria was buffet style and had several stations (home cooked/classic section, sandwich bar, pasta bar, stir fry bar, international bar, pizza bar, a grill that had burgers, hot dogs, fries etc). I would…

You look soo frickin hawtt! When I grow up, I want to look just like you lol
-
I'd probably only mention it if I were friends with this person...if we were acquaintances, I wouldn't really say anything unless they asked me how they looked or something, I'd be honest and try to say it casually that "I actually think you looked very good when you were 10 lbs heavier". If it were a friend, I'd also…

I'm very new on my journey, so still in training-wheels. I like to actually see the calories I'm eating logged and having a concrete track of things. Once I start losing more and more weight and become more accustomed to everything, then I may not log my calories and just estimate, but for now, I think I need to do it, as…

20 glasses of water a day sounds mythical to me, like I can't believe it until I see it...unless I lived in the desert. I was watching a health program on tv recently that said 8 glasses a day was sort of wisdom of the past, but in reality you don't need 8 glasses, as lots of your food and other drinks have water in them…

I like the fact that you said your body didn't want to stay at 118. The body is intelligent and in weightloss, I think there is a pre-set weight that your body knows you're supposed to be at, and if you go under or above it, you feel different and your body compensates for it. I want to get to the weight MY body knows I'm…

I have thought about this and I think for me, it won't be a number on the scale but a feeling. A feeling of health, strength and happiness with what I see in the mirror. In reality, I actually prefer a "thicker" look, I want to have "meat on my bones" and sometimes I wonder how I would look being my suggested weight. The…

I want to be educated and conscious about what I am eating, but obsessing over it is another thing. I'd like to lose weight and be healthy and live a "normal" just more healthy life. Balance is the key. With my new mentality, I will make sure not to go overboard on Thanksgiving like I normally would. I can have a great…

I am pretty new and haven't cheated yet...although my dad brought home some red velvet cake and some other kind tonight  I am considering working it into my daily calories. We'll see how it goes. If it can fit more or less "comfortably" I'll take a slice or a piece of a slice.
-
I agree. I am no therapist but some of what you describe, obsessing over it, weighing every piece of food, the guilt and feeling anxious if you don't, sound like symptoms of OCD that can really hinder one's life and happiness; and as you have said, your obsession about your weight has cost you happiness and to…
