  • @quiksylver296 , I'll have what you're having! lol. Your profile pic is great!.. I did see that link that jemhh included. So maybe I'll try that one.
  • No you're not going crazy...boy I wish I could find this old thread, the girl started at 125 ended at 136 and she looked freaking fantastic, she looked 15lbs lighter rather than 11lbs heavier. Her before and after were fantastic. If I find it I'll post the link, but I wouldn't worry about the scale so much. The scale is…
  • @jemhh Thank you for the links! The Starting Strength & Practical Programming Novice didn't work tho :frowning: but I'm gonna take some time to read through them and see which is best for me because they all seem quite different.
  • If you are eyeballing your portions then they are more than likely too much. I've been doing this for quite a while and every time I think I have a portion size I weigh it and it's usually double what it's supposed to be. Use smaller plates and Invest in a food scale!! About $12-20. It'll be your best friend. Started in…

  • Have you tried the row machine? Great all over body workout. You can adjust the resistance to your needs. I would give it a try. Ask gym personnel for the proper form and technique to use it if you aren't familiar.
  • Muscle repair from new exercise program. Give it time and drink more water. You'll even out
  • I work at a University so i have access to the University gym..I would stick to that. I know for fact that our pool alone rocks any gym in a 50 mile radius. Better locker and shower facilities and free WiFi which many gyms don't offer. The only thing I feel like I'm missing are group classes so I do have a LA Fitness…
  • If you gained then that's not a plateau. A "plateau" means you're not gaining or losing anything. You were over you calories so you gained. Create a deficit, know your numbers... Try scooby http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/

  • That's 22lbs...No safe, not reasonable, not sustainable
  • I work close to a supermarket. A few times a week I got o the seafood dept and buy 1/2lb shrimp and they will steam it for me right there. I buy a bag of frozen steamed veggies along with it. When I get back to work I pop the veggie bag in the microwave then mix it in a bowl with the fresh steamed shrimp...serving size for…
  • Nearby gym during lunch time? Is a park or lake near your job? Personally, I have a stationary bike in my bedroom so when I come home from work and watch tv, I watch it while on the bike. I also have an hour lunch. 30 mins of that I'm in the gym.
  • If you're only consuming 1100 cals a day and burning 900 then there's you answer as to why you are starving. You should try to eat back at least half of that
  • Besides your profile stating that you are a 50 yr old woman, just not enough information is. height, weight, goals..You just said you need to lose weight quick. My best advice...follow the process. The surest way to lose is to create a deficit. If you have already use scooby to know your numbers so your deficit is accurate…
  • What can you replace fast food with? Why don't you try to cook your meals instead? You said you are very heavy..Does that mean you have 50+ to lose or 100+ to lose. Use the search and type that in. You'll find MFP groups that are very motivational with people facing the same issues that you are. Everything is a process.…
  • Have you tried light vanilla soymilk? I use it because the vanilla gives it a sweeter taste than milk.
  • I used to watch it..Maybe the first 2 seasons but what do the contestants learn? That cruelty and deprivation are the only way to win? What happened to learning self love and self control? What about developing healthy habits that will last for a lifetime? Those work too. And the failure rates are a lot less.
  • I absolutely agree with you. This was the first thought that popped into my head, but my 2nd thought is Why can't she just be honest? I can understand if OP had asked her to make them and then she changed her mind, but the woman freely and willingly made them and obviously not for the OP exclusively or she would not have…
  • You have been blessed with 3 children. No need to be depressed. Stick to MFP, be honest and dedicated and you will reach your goals.
  • Keep track of your measurements and take progress pics. It's not all about the scale. Take a peek at this girl's post from yesterday. It's not all about the scale! http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10381412/its-taken-4-months-but-10-pounds-are-gone-comparison#latest

  • @tanyaleelee To add someone from the post click on their name, a new box will come up. Click on their name again and you'll see the button for 'add as friend'. It'll send a request. Or under the "community tab" you'll see an option for 'find friends' type in the name then you'll see add as friend
  • Instead of it being a diet, consider it a lifestyle change. there's no cap to wanting to be healthy for life!
  • 1000 cals a day..so 7000 cals a week thats -2lbs without even considering a food deficit. Your numbers are wrong or you're eating too much.
  • Find people with like goals. People who have 20lbs or less, people with 20-30 people with 50 or more, ppl with 100 or more. You tend to relate a little more. Some people are gym rats, that may be motivation, that may be a turn off. Some people eat chia seeds and smoothies all day...stuff like that doesn't motivate me. I…
  • Not enough info...Many factors to this...How long ago did you start? I see you just joined MFP today. If you were used to eating 2000-3000 calories a day and now you're eating 1200, your body needs time to adjust. Buy snacks, carry a few with you. I don't if you're a student or work or what. How much do you have to lose?…
  • It's very doable. Give yourself time, log on regularly, be honest with yourself, accept the bad days long with the good and you'll be great! Welcome!!!

  • I notice that I don't slouch as much during some of my workouts. So $6 to be a little more mindful about my posture is worth it, but trimming your waist? Ummm no. That happens in the kitchen, not the gym
