When I first started exercising, I found the Wii Fit very useful and it worked perfectly for my needs. As I've become more fit I need to supplement it with other exercise, but it's still a useful tool which I use regularly. I'm not sure what burns the most as I find the numbers that they give you are a bit generous. :)

When I upped my water consumption, I noticed an increase in weight. It took a few months for my body to become used to the extra fluid and settle down and the increase was around a litre. I do think you should be wary of increasing your water intake very drastically all at once, especially if you're lowering your salt, or…

I think four litres a day might be a tad much. Perhaps cut back to three litres and see how you get on. I don't know if it would make you gain/hold weight unless you've drastically increased your water intake in the last few weeks. Is this the only change you've made in the last two weeks?

Fabulous link, thank you!

Oh yes! I knew stock cubes were bad, but oh wow. Plus pre-canned soup. Sugar seems to be in everything processed too.

Cheese, I knew it was high but I was surprised by how high. Plus, sweetcorn, chocolate, processed foods in general, certain fruits, sausages, bread based products, fruit juice, Conversely, I was happily surprised by the calories in eggs, bacon, beans, lean meats, certain vegetables, potatoes, I think my biggest shocked…

UK guidelines are for 18g of fibre a day, which I believe is too low. I prefer to get around 30g a day. OP, if I'm low on fibre on an odd day, I just have a sachet of Fibrogel, which has around 3.5g of fibre.

I haven't tried it, but I have friends who love it, especially if they work in offices and can't always get away to get something healthy.

I weigh twice a week (though only log changes once) and measure once. I'm glad I started measuring as my weight loss is small compared to my inches lost.

Yep, I can get like this instantly too. I've managed not to self-harm in years, but it's always a struggle. Like you my medication works well most of the time, but on days where I've not slept well the night before, or when I feel slightly more brain-floopy, I have an extra medication that I can take. Most of the time I…

My partner hates all eggs until I started making us omelettes. He finds he can deal with the texture and actually rather enjoys them. Perhaps spicing up your eggs with flavours you like could help? Spanish omelettes would have the best texture for you, perhaps.

I love this!

That I had to change my thought process, lifestyle and routines. It's better not to deprive myself of foods I enjoy, as long as I can fit them into my calorie goal, I can have them and I'm much less likely to binge eat. To weigh/measure everything. I was eating three/four times what I thought I was. The human body is…

Good advice. :)

Fantastic! Well done. I love your two legs in your old jeans picture. :)

I'm on Mirtazapine (combined with the Risperidone I was already taking) and it took me a few months to be able to control the hunger enough to be able to lose weight, so I feel your pain. The SSRI (of which Citalopram is) medications can cause stomach issues/sensitivities and weight gain/loss. I had to stop eating bread…

The first couple of weeks of eating better, I felt shaky and light-headed so I had my blood sugar (plus liver/kidney functions) tested and they were fine. My doctor said it was likely that my body was just adjusting to the dietary changes*. (I did cut out a huge amount of processed sugars all in one go) I found having a…

I like this site: http://getdrunknotfat.com/ ETA: Doh, already mentioned. Should have refreshed the thread before posting. :)

As you're in the UK, you should be able to choose a restaurant that has opted into the calories display scheme. http://www.food.gov.uk/scotland/news-updates/news/pressreleases/2009/apr/foodoutletscaloriesmenus#.UObfVG-il34 Only around 2 of 5 have opted in though, so it's still tricky.

Oooh! Excellent idea. :D

Nice link, thanks. :)

Weighing, measuring and counting everything is the only thing that works for me. It's taken me a long time to realise it. Diet plans work for a short amount of time until I get fed up of the restrictions; if I'm working it out myself, I can balance my diet to give myself the things that I want (in moderation) as well as…

It does sound dumb and it's not always the best; they have the two people talking about their diet about what they feel the trigger points are/have been in their life, how they feel eating the other person's diet, how they feel about their own diets, what watching the other person eat as they usually do makes them feel,…

When I first started, I hadn't exercised in a long time, I could do around 3 minutes before being shattered and wanting to throw up. Six months later, I can do 30 minutes of exercise and feel tired afterwards. A good tired though, not a want to throw up in a corner and sleep all day, tired. It's been a slow process, but I…

I'm going to be with family so I can't know the ins and outs of everything, so I'm not going to log on Christmas Day or Boxing Day. Sensible portions and no overdo the cheese, booze and biscuits. Then logging as normal days for the rest of the time.

I always weigh everything before I cook it, but add in any oil I've used to cook with.

Fantastic! Well done. :)

Yes please!

SSRIs can have weight gain side effects, but those could be that when depressed some people don't have an appetite, so when they feel better, they put some weight on due to the appetite returning. I'm on Mirtazapine and it made me ravenous in the first few months and I put on 15 pounds, but through controlled calories and…
