  • Those prices seem about right to me. Just a little bit over, maybe. Bananas are around 40 cents here, but more in some stores. And, apples are around 75 cents. Northern NJ here. But, in general, I spend way less on food now b/c I'm not buying $3-4 packages of cookies or chips or boxed foods all the time. Not buying as much…
  • Great job! For me, the program was too strenuous in some ways and not strenuous enough in others. I mean, I felt like by week 4 I coudlnt do the length of intervals that it wanted me to do. I wasn't ready to run 5 minutes at a time. But, at the end of every workout in Weeks 1-3, I felt like I could have gone on further and…

  • I'm in Essex County. Was hoping to find some locals or a gym buddy, even!
  • Nuts, cheeses, Fig Walks Into a Bar (cereal bars), breads, stir fry frozen meals, frozen steel cut oatmeal...
  • Well, you just have to work on getting over having guilt with food! Who cares about the red? MFP's settings aren't the best. :) There are lots of threads here about lower-cal protein sources. I find that protein keeps me full and satisfies me and causes me to eat way fewer calories a day.

  • My doctor put me on singulair b/c I have wheezing with exercise and then this persistent cough. That's all gone now and it works for allergies and I am sooo much better. I have none! No mroe having to take benedryl or allegra, zyrtec, flonaise, etc. This takes care of all of it!
  • Mine is after I lost 40 pounds and it was picture day at work, so it's my cocky lawyer picture :)
  • Oh, and I totally think the MOST important advice was posted above: don't see this as a diet, but a lifestyle change. When my goal has been online to diet and lose weight, I've failed. This time, for some crazy reason, it's stuck and it doesn't feel like much of a challenge. I think it's b/c my goal is more mindful, more…
  • 1 - Eat wholesome, natural foods (because you'll get to eat way more of it and feel less hungry) 2 - Move your body, but find exercise you enjoy 3- Stick with it, no matter what.
  • 1 Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Patty 1/2 Chobani Pomegrante Yogurt 1/3 cup blueberries Coffee + milk I eat eggs and sausage frequently, but no time to cook today.
  • I have PCOS and am on metformin to help regulate my periods and what not. My carb intake varies, but I'm jujst not a carb fan. so, you'll very rarely see me eat strict carbs like pasta/bread/potatoes. I have no clue what is advised/appropriate, but I tend to be under like 60g carbs a day, often under 40. I eat a lot of…
  • You can friend me! Also, here's words of advice/encouragement/motivation that helped me: This isn't about motivation. Sure, sometimes motivation and inspiration is nice. But, you have to do this even when you aren't motivated. You have to do it because it's necessary, because there's an end goal, and because this is the…
  • I go through phases where I eat more or less meat. Right now I'm in the more meat phase. But, I think that when people cut out meat, they instead add in empty carbs (pasta, potatoes, bread, etc), which isn't really any better for you. So, be careful of that. When I eat less meat, then I tend to replace it with fish, dairy,…

  • I think everyone is different - both in terms of their actual physical needs and also their lifestyle/schedule. Some people need frequent meals/snacks, some don't. Some people do best on carbs, some best on protein. You gotta figure out what works best for you in terms of how you feel and what causes the most weight loss.…
  • What everyone else said : in sauces, in smoothies, in baked goods, in cereal, etc. :)
  • I'm doing it outside as long as possible. Luckily Mother Nature seems to give me at least a couple days a week that are cooler. But, i even went out in 90+ degree weather to do it, which I never, ever thought I'd do. Once I get to a point where I'm running longer periods, I wouldn't mind the treadmill. But, starting and…
  • There really is no single "best" - it all depends on you, your feet, your body. Go to a runner's store (Fleet Feet, etc) and have them fit you. It's free and the shoes cost no more than they do everywhere else. They'll be able to look at your feet and stride and figure out what type of shoe is best for YOU.
  • My question is - how big are the chest straps? I wear a size 42 bra - is it going to be big enough?
  • Geesh, I apologize for the typos above. I'm doing 5 things at once LOL.
  • I finished Week 2 and was AMAZED that I could do it. I originally wasn't even going to try, but I did it. However, two days ago tried Week 3, aftera 4 day hiatus due to weather. NOT pretty. I am nowhere nearly read for 3 minute runs. I made it 2 minutes and wanted to die. My legs just can't handle it - they are in so much…
  • I know that heat affects your heart rate, which is why sitting in the hot sauna actually burns a decent amount of calories. So, i'd imagine that working out in the heat also burns more than working out in the cold.
  • It's definitely super yummy and was a big hit around here. I'll make it again this week. I think I'll try alterations - I'll keep the white bean & avocado base, but maybe try sprouts. I love sprouts :)
  • Dawnie - How long did it take you to get to running 1.25 miles? I'm just able to do 90 seconds right now :)
  • PS - It was 227 calories the way I made it. The tortilla that you use will be the key player in the calorie count, so try to find a low cal one!
  • Did did W2D1 on Sunday. I didn't think i'd be able to do it, but I woke up feeling motivated and went to try. And, I did it! It wasn't too bad, but I definitely felt more strain than during Week 1. I did W2D2 Monday. I probably should have taken a day to rest, because I had no energy. I also hadn't eaten or slept well the…
  • I've tried champion and find them to b enot very supportive. And, I only have C cup!
  • I have a Moving Comfort bra that I got at my local running store. When I LOOKED at it, it didn't seem like it would be that supportive. But, man it is. and, I love that the straps are adjustable with velcro and it's also so comfy and provides so much more support than my regular bra that sometimes I just wear it on random…
  • First, set your boundaries and think about consequences. Why let someone else have influence over your progress, what you eat, etc? That gallon of ice cream will make you feel worse, not better. How about going and kicking a punching bag. Or running really hard. Or some other way to get stress OUT rather than take stress…
