DietBet - 4% by 4th of July
So, I'm going to try out this "DietBet" site...I feel like it's a concrete goal for me to work super duper hard on and be super duper strict for 28 days to lose 4% of my body weight. For most people, that comes out to me 5-10 pounds. Anyway...it's $25 to join and it's starting Jun 6 and ending July 3...just in time to…

HRM chafing
I have a Polar FT7. Lately if I wear it any length of time (like 1hr+ workouts), it ends up rubbing me raw on the side of my chest where the hook attaches. (I am female - so it's sorta on the area between my breast and rib). Does anyone else experience this? When I'm actually out and about exercising, I don't notice it.…

No Endurance...
I've been eating healthy/dieting since December and have dropped about 55 pounds. The last few months I began exercising and my goal was ultimately to be able to do a 5k, but short-term goal was to run a mile. I started C25k, but found Week 4 was just more than I could handle. I could do the 3 minute run, but not the 5…

"Bad Food Karma" - Help the starving
So, if there is such a thing as karma, I believe I probably have BAD food KARMA, from all the years of over indulging in food all while knowing that there are millions of people starving on earth at any given time. So, given that I have my eating under control and am more thoughtful about it, I thought: why not help the…

Nerdy eyeglasses question...
This may sound nerdy but...during workouts, I get sweaty and my glasses ride down on my face. And, last night during yoga, they just kept completely falling off during the downward dog. Does anyone know of a solution? Or where to get those strap thingies that some of the nerdy kids used to wear when I was in grade school?…

White Bean & Avocado Wrap
I made this today and it was super easy and super yummy! http://www.eatingwell.com/recipes/creamy_avocado_white_bean_wrap.html I didn't use the oil or the cheese - those are things you can't taste anyway, so it saved calories. I used Ole Extreme Wellness tortillas, which are 71 calories. And, I just used a general spice…

New to running - what makes you stop?
I have a question for other new runners or those who were once new runners... When you first begin a running program...what is it that makes you want to stop, i.e. no longer to endure going and pause to walk. Is it that you're out of breath? Body tired? etc. I find that I'm never out of breath (well, not now that I have…

Pre and Post Workout Food
I just started C25K and a fitness routine and am really interested in suggestions for the best food to consume pre and post workout. I'm not talking about extra calories or the like, but just good food choices to replenish, energize, etc the body that's essentially within my normal daily calories (which is about 1300). I'm…

I thought I'd share this coupon for a FREE item by Veggie Patch. They are usually in the produce section or frozen foods. I *LOVE* the meatballs and feel I never have to eat a beef/turkey meatball again :) I also like the chicken nuggets & patties, and falafel. Haven't tried the other stuff. Anyway, for those of you who…

Corner Bakery - 100under600.com
Last week was a little "cheat" meal (I actually just had tons of calories left for dinner that day and didn't need to count) and we went to Corner Bakery, which is sorta like a Panera. Turns out I didn't need to cheat at all! They had TONS of choices for meals under 600 calories. They have this website: www.100under600.com…

Really big/out of shape and runner?
I guess I'm looking for a little inspiration here. Did anyone else start out at like 250+ and really out of shape and barely able to run half a block, but are now able to run a good distance? I'm just starting and it seems impossible to imagine I'd ever be able to run more than a mile - and even a mile seems like a dream.

Breakfast: Huevos Rancheros
Here's a easy, yummy, and very filling breakfast treat for less than 250 calories. Huevos Rancheros 1 large egg (70 cals) 1/16 (a smidge) tsp butter (20 cals, can use olive oil instead but I think butter cooks eggs better) 1/4 cup Amy's Organic Refried Black Beans (70 cals - can use any other bean) 1 corn tortilla (55-65…
