I'll add you. I am in the NYC area....39, lesbian. I was on MFP years ago and lost 70 pounds, but then eventually tuned out and gained it back. Starting back up again..7 pounds down.

(I use the pre-packaged caufiflower crumbles by Jolly Green Giant - no prep!

I don't think it tastes too much like cauliflowers - depends on the seasoning you use! Soaks it up. Last night I made cilantro-lime cauliflower "rice" - i used tons of lime, cilantro, and a pinch of salt. That served as the bottom of my burrito bowl that was topped with beans & taco-seasoned boca crumbles, tomatoes,…

I love avocados and find a way to fit them in. I find guac is a satisfying alternative to sour cream in my mexican food. and i LOVE avocado on toast w/a poached egg....healthier than butter and only 1/4 of an avocado goes a long way!

I see your post is old, but it came up in my search. How did you like Kettlebell Kitchen meals? I have been ordering them too - I order 5-7 meals a week, which comes to about $55-65. I love them - they are so tasty and really fill me up, unlike Lean Cuisines. And some of the meals I stretch to 2 meals, making the price…

Another thing I love is avocado toast! I'll either get a really grainy piece of bread, or a 1/2 an english muffin, and then I toast it and spread on avocado w/ salt and pepper. On the weekends when I have more time, I eat a poached or soft-boiled egg on top. So yummy!

I have been ordering Kettlebell Kitchen meals and there's one breakfast that i *love*. It's Apple Chicken Sausage with grilled peaches and a Paleo blueberry muffin. It's 535 calories, but SO filling that I can't eat the whole thing so I eat 1/2 of it (2 sausage patties, half the peaches, and 1/2 the muffin) for breakfast…

We're here!

I have an almost-5-year-old boy. I eat meat, but my gf is a vegetarian and has been her whole life. I like vegetarian meals, so that's all I eat at home. And I only eat meat on occasion when I'm out with others. My son eats both - but he's fine with vegetarian "chicken" nuggets, etc.

Does anyone belong to a NYC gym? Thoughts?
-
Mine encourages me and reminds me to love myself and my body, no matter the weight. And that it's just about being good to myself. Plus, we're joining the gym together and have bought new cookbooks, etc to be healthy. And almost every Saturday we have a date at the Farmer's Market!

Cool - I'm in Queens/Brooklyn (Ridgewood really, but more like Bushwick). and I work in North Jersey.

Friend me! :)

Welcome!!

Lesbian, lawyer, mid-30s, parent. I live in NJ, just outside NYC, and am in the City quite a bit (as my gf lives in Queens).

It depends on the counselor. But, generally, they'll want to get some background info on you, what the issue is that brought you there, etc. You're the one who guides the sessions, so it'll be however you make it :)

Moving Comfort Fiona. I like that it snaps and isn't a slide-on-over-head, it has good support, and the straps are easily adjustable. At a running store, I paid around $44. On amazon.com, I got some for $25.

Google "Insecure Attachment" - that's what he has. Evidently his childhood was probably chaotic, so he has a fear of abandonment now. What he feels is a need for assurance and stability - once he feels more secure in your relationship and that you really like him, it'll calm down some. But in the initial stages, he'll just…

I have a three-year old son! :)

LOL. Yeah, you caught onto me. My "working out" and "recipe swapping" is code for "cruising" and "seeking romantic encounters." We gays...can't be trusted!

I think I did this wrong. When I say "3, 2, 4, 5, 1," I mean that Picture #3 (Marilyn) is the hottest to me, picture #2 the second hottest, and so forth. If I am instead supposed to keep the pictures in their order and then assign each one a number, then it would be 5, 2, 1, 3, 4

3, 2, 4, 5, 1. I kinda have a thing for blondes. :)

I do....but I'm a butch woman and I use it in sort of a throw-back way. I imagine I'm Don Draper when I do it :)

It makes a difference if you're eating your exercise calories back, though. If I sat on my couch for 2 hours, I'd burn roughly 120-150 calories. If I go work out hard for those same 2 hours, my HRM will read 1000 calories. So, I only burned 850-880 extra. If I were to eat backt he whole 1000 calories, then I actually would…
-
Hey, I recognize that cleavage! :) Awesome progress pics!!!! Major difference!!
-
Just make sure you subtract out your resting rate calories. If it says you burnt 400 calories on your watch, you have to subtract out the amount you would have burnt just by sitting on your couch doign nothing.

Hey now, eggs come in all shapes and sizes and should be loved equally :)

I checked it out, but it didn't seem like a great workout to me. Maybe okay for a bit or to mix things up, but I'd join a regular gym where you have many more options and can mix things up. Also, Curves is owned by big right wing, anti-gay, anti-abortion folks who donates to groups against my interest. I don't want my…

It's funny how so much stuff related to stretching is always for seniors! I mean, if younger people stretched more, then we wouldn't need it so badly as seniors!

The fruit cups will likely not satiate her very long. Go for protein and fiber like nuts and string cheese and veggies. My grocery store's produce section has the veggie packs called "Ready Snax" and they will have like carrots, snap peas, cheese and ranch dressing and it's only 140 cals. Or there's one with apples,…
