I use it when referring to my great niece, or a friends little girl, or cute little ones. I will say "She's such a doll", or "what a doll".

Oh I hate broad! I grew up around truckers, my mom and aunt working at truck stops, and women were called broads or dumb broads all the time, very derogatory!,
Ok, maybe I’m the weird one, lol….just sounded corny to me. Personally, I prefer the word “broad” anyway but what do I know. Maybe I'll try working in the word "doll" around the office today....

I called my wife "Doll". She called me "Buddy". Now we don't call each other at all.

I like babydoll. I don't use doll, but it wouldn't bother me to hear it. I do say Love all the time, like, "How are you Love?"

Used to love being called that - had a sweet, very complimentary friend that called me doll. My sister sometimes calls me doll or dollface.

Then - a highly offensive, womanizing, asshat called me doll - and now, hearing the word from a male sickens me. It's ok though if my sister says it.

Strange how the brain works. :ohwell:

Kind of like: "Bless your little heart..." ?

Which means, when translated, Shut up you stupid b!tch!

I have a confession to make. Frequently my internal running monologue (think JD from scrubs/ guy noir), uses a 50's detective/italian gangster voice and calls all women either "dames" or "broads". I don't think I've ever used it outloud haha.
