A lot of his clothes are not very practical for a working woman.

I just turned 40 and decided to change my life and shape up. I’ve lost 19lbs since August by just being a bit careful. I am now down to 11st and have just ordered a size 12 swimming costume. 14lbs to go. By the time I am 41 I want to get into a size 10. Friend me if you want

5ft 8ins - like you. In August I was 173 lbs and I am now down to 154. I was 14-16 (UK size) and am now 12-14 depending on where I shop and what I am buying. My goal is to be able to comfortably wear my size 10 jeans again.

The only way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories than your body consumes. Eat a balanced diet, don’t go mad with the exercise. I have lost 19 lbs since I started with MFP in August. No fancy diet or exercise regime – just a change in my eating habits. I got my inspiration from Paul McKenna’s book “I can make you thin”.

Definitely not the only one. See my post 5 days ago “Uncooperative Partner”.

Thorntons - irresistible, Apricot Parfaits – pure heaven. Big miss for me today on the calorie and cholesterol front after consuming a huge slice of “Baker and Spice” Macedonia Cake with Nibbed Almonds. Office celebration for someone’s birthday. How can I be on a diet and be expected to organise these things!!

Croydon, OK to add me

Just glimpsed through the responses to my post. Boy what a varied list! Here are the current placings in the MFP Autumn 2012 Food Turn Off Stakes: Fast food is a couple of points ahead of seafood with liver and offal coming up fast on the inside. Any bets on who the eventual winner will be?

@Pomegranite I agree with everything you say, I also have an unsupportive partner and some of the things he says and does are so unhelpful. It does take will power and I am going to succeed this time. Trouble is he is still in quite good shape despite his poor diet. One day he will wake up and see the light.

My parents must have had the same thought. I was christened “Alex Robin”. At school I was ribbed about it and started calling myself Alexis. I keep changing my mind about it.

@Searunner26 I love guys on bikes. Mark Cavendish where are you?

Take the skin off a pig; chop it into small pieces - being careful to leave the hairy bits on; deep fry it in dirty oil; dip it in a vat of salt. Package in a small bag with a cheery label and sell at an extortionate price. Thats about as good as it gets - yuck

maybe - but frankly I have had it with men for time being - they are so self centered!!

I am 40 and hoping to lose 30 lbs, add me in.

My sister gave me a copy of Paul McKenna’s book “I can make you slim”. I got real inspiration from it. Managing food and exercise is not about diets, calories and weighing/measuring yourself. An awareness of these things helps of course but the real change is in your mind. I travel about three times or four times a year –…

Thanks for the comments. I am doing it for myself. It’s just hard sometimes when he sits there stuffing his face with crisps and other unhealthy stuff. Yesterday evening it was “pork scratchings” (which is probably a uniquely British culinary delight). These have got to be about the unhealthiest food ever. Then he opened a…

Mostly Americans on this site. I joined a month ago. I find it very helpful even if the measures are a bit confusing.

Add me, I need support too. Mega negative vibes from my partner.

Don't feel guilty about not exercising!! For exercise to work it has to be enjoyable. I wasted a ton of money on gym membership, hated going and always dropped out. I,ve lost more weight by being careful about how much I eat. I exercise by walking or cycling when I used to use the car.

I stated in August and need to loose 40llbs, 7 gone so far and 4" off my fat waist. Still size 16+ but getting thiner. Add me as a friend.

I am 5' 8" and was 171 lbs. I want to loose 2st. Add me as a friend

I was given the book by my sister on birthday (sisters can do things like that!!). One month down the line I have lost nearly half a stone. Paul Mckenna says don't weigh yourself but it is difficult not to. I think the book helps, didn't get on with the CD though.

You can add me. I am just past the big 40 and determined to get back my old figure. I was 12st 5llb on my birthday. I have lost 7 lbs since then and determined to loose another 1st at least.

My goal is 50 miles a week. I am a bit late for this month but I will do it in October
