You can definitely see the hard work you're putting in paying off. I too like the short hairdo! Great job!!

No necessarily true, at least in my family. My husband is a big guy and I am a big girl. We have 2 sons, ages 15 and 26, both over 6 feet 4 inches tall with one weighing 160 and the other 195 pounds. I can't figure it out, but I am glad that being heavy has skipped over them (for now). I think they are taking after one of…

As you look at it as working out in the long run, yes, I would think so too. I wouldn't try to make it a habit to starve one day so you could indulge the next though. I think that could be a slippery slope as far as mentality.

Well, after losing for the first weigh in and staying the same for the second weigh in, I've managed to have a loss this weigh in - 5.8 pounds for a total of 15.6 pounds so far. I have 21 more to go to meet my personal challenge for the group. I have a lot to lose, so I hope I can do it. Keep it up everyone - slow and…

Make a plan and work the sweets into your day. If you don't have enough calories, plan to work out some to allow the extra calories. Sounds like you have some restraint even in stressful times. You can work through this.

Sorry to hear that you are having troubles with this right now. I just browsed quickly through your diary for the last few 10 days or so, and I does seem that your carbs are way over most of those days. I would definitely try to get them lower. I know you say you're aiming for 100 grams a day. I don't know what the magic…

Same here. My husband hasn't said anything yet either, but I've only lost 15 pounds. On the other hand, as someone else mentioned, my husband has never said that I needed to lose weight either in our whole 27 years together, even as I continued to gain weight steadily over the past 5 years. He always tells me he loves me…

I tried to indulge in a "cheat" meal, but felt so guilty I hopped on my exercise bike afterwards to burn off some of the excess calories. I guess I didn't want to ruin any of the progress I had made. I know, total wimp, eh? lol

I totally agree with both of you. After all, I wouldn't have my muffin top marks on my stomach if I actually wore my correct size, right? I can't wait to go down a size. I have a brand new pair of jeans just waiting for me.

Hello and welcome! I have a few friends from across the "pond". I'll send you a request.

I'm so happy for you!! It does sound kind of scary when everyone tells you that you have to eat more to lose weight, but it seems to have worked for so many. Glad you took the chance :)

I had my HOLY CRAP moment the last week of August this year after not getting on a scale in over a year and a half. I weighed in at my highest ever and that was it. I started the day after getting on the scale and it's been 40-plus days for me and I am down 15 lbs and it has been easier than I could have ever thought so…

I would say that you have to motivate yourself and find your inner strength. The number one thing you need to do is be honest with yourself and record everything, and I mean everything, in your diary. It keeps you accountable. Make sure you're eating enough to keep your body going. I am eating right now most days between…

I get extra "hungry" too right before my TOM. I know that my BMR is 1824 and my TDEE is 2400, so I try to not go over my BMR with my eating and no more than 2000 calories at the most. I may stay the same weight for a week, but I know that at least it is controllable. If you're craving chocolate, how about sugar free hot…

Positively wonderful!!! Congrats to you. You were beautiful before and you're beautiful thin. That you did this in a year and a half sounds like just the right amount of time as well. Thanks for posting your pictures - theses stories are what keeps me motivated to not give up.

With 3 men in the house and me changing my eating habits, I still find I am spending less on the groceries each week than before when buying loads of junk food "for the guys" or so I said. They are pretty adaptable and will eat what is in the house and instead of cooking double-size meals for dinner, we are each allotted a…

For the most part it is moderation for me, but on certain categories of foods, I do find myself restricting those because they could lead to a whole lot of trouble for me and lead to craving more and more of the wrong foods.

I have to tell you that my son has the same problem, but he doesn't have weight issues at all. He's 26 years old and has not found the right girl yet either, and it may be because of the way he looks (i.e. tattoos and ear gauges) I know he's frustrated, but he will not come out and say so. It could be that you are maybe…

I just came off of a few weeks like that and I just started at the very end of August with 2 weeks of nice losses and then stagnant for the next 2 weeks, even though I stayed on track with my eating and exercised a little and tried to drink my water. By the next weekly weigh-in for me (the 5th week), I had a woosh! week…

And that is the reason I have kept my journey most to myself - save for my immediate family I live with and my mom. It's too hard to tell someone about what you are doing and then have them judge you for every morsel you put in your mouth, even though you know you can eat whatever in moderation and fit it into your plan.…

I'm not a huge exercise fan either (yet), but I know that if I don't do it at least a couple of days a week, I'll never do it. To be honest, after getting my butt moving, the next day has me wanting to do more. I have a little more energy from it as well. Just need to say screw it and make time for yourself. Obviously…

You look fabulous!! Congrats on your loss. I too love seeing the before and after success stories. They keep me going, knowing that it is possible more so than I ever thought. Thanks for posting your story.

The Thai beef salad sounds good.

I started August 27 and I hit the 13 pound mark yesterday. I have 100+ to lose like a lot of folks on here. I don't exercise a lot, maybe a few days per week. I can't really say I see much of a difference yet, but it does seem like my stomach has gotten a little smaller. I can't wait until the day a relative or a close…

I'm very happy for you on reaching your goal(s). Amazing transformation! I read through your blog too, and it was a very nice detailing of your experience dealing with the ups and downs of life as we go through this journey. Congratulations!

I agree with your statement about weighing once a week. Work the plan, stay within your calories (try not to eat below the 1200) and get moving some and it will all work out in the end. If you insist on weighing every day, you could do that and then after a week add all the weights together and divide by 7 to get your…

I agree. I usually put my own ingredients into the recipe builder and go from there, unless it is something at a restaurant, which happens to have nutritional values on a handout or on the web, then I go by what they say. You can't just pick something out of the database on here and go by that, unless there are no other…

i work a desk job too, but it's in the comfort of my own home. I get up at least once an hour to walk around for 5 minutes. I can ride my stationary bike during my coffee breaks or at lunch time. I would go crazy not being able to leave my desk all day, even at lunch time. I would get very burned out. Is it a rule that you…

Wow! congratulations! If you don't mind me asking, how long has it been since your last weigh in, or is this your first weight check since starting? Just curious is all.

Sorry, I don't know what this is. I've been losing by monitoring my calorie intake by portion control and eating somewhat healthier foods.
