My first was 2:47 in 2009 and this was only my second ever race!!! My second half was 2:32 (one year after the first) and most recent was 2:27. My goal for this year is under 2:15.

I think it's an awesome idea. When I have kids, I hope to instill healthy habits on them. I think as long as your encouraging them and not forcing it on them it's a good example. I didn't have any "healthy" role models in my life and health and exercise didn't happen for me until my late 20's and I always wish it had been…

I have been running for about 3 years now. Things I wish I knew then that help me now and stuff I am still discovering: - Stretching is important! I don't do enough of it, but I have been trying for at least 10 minute of it after a run. - I am planning on going back to yoga 2-3 times a week because that is something that…

You can still run outside! I do and I live in Mass. A lot of companies make cold weather running attire. I have running tights, a running jacket, running gloves and a headband that goes over my ears.

I like granola bars, protein bars and trail mix. They are easy to carry. It's what I usually take with me when I board. I also will bring healthy options for " real food" like sandwichs or meals I can eat cold. I keep them in a cooler in my car and head back there when I am hungry and in need of a break on the mountain.

I just bought a Polar F4 off Ebay, brand new for $42 (which includes shipping). I have been using it for a couple days now and I like it. Pretty simple, no frills. Just two buttons on the watch, I have the "guys" version but its not that bulky. I bought it to replace a Timex HRM that went nuts on me. If the Timex didnt go…

I haven't tried stevia, but agave is pretty sweet. I actually only use about 1/3 or 1/2 of what is a serving (according to the label) because that is about all you need. The agave I buy actually comes in flavors too..orginal, raspberry and blueberry.

Try greek yogurt....I like adding honey, agave nectar, choco powder, etc. And by adding your own you are controlling how much you add. I eat oatmeal every morning, but I buy the old fashioned oats and I add my own stuff, cinnamon, agave...again its controlling how much you add and not eating everything that is so processed.

Can you pretend to drink? For example, pour yourself a diet coke and just say its a rum and coke?

Splenda gives me very bad anexity

Google C25K (couch to 5k)...it has helped me and many others start running. Its a run/walk program. Also get properly fitted for running sneakers.

Sprints have worked best for me in bringing my pace down. I usually do speed work on the treadmill since its easy to keep track of speed/time/distance. I like going for about 1 minute per mile faster than my mile time...I do that for 0.25 miles then I walk at 4.0 for 0.1 miles. I usually repeat anywhere from 5-10 times. I…

I would add some cross training in there. I run a lot, but I also go to the gym and do classes (like boot camp and spinning). Also try weight training as well to help you break through the plateau. Sometimes just switching up your workout helps kick your body back into gear. Getting back to the running thing. I like to mix…

cinnamon dried fruit (mostly cranberries or raisins) maple syrup choco powder agave nectar peanut butter nuts: almonds, pecans or walnuts raspberries strawberries blueberries honey I usually mix and match what I put in there...today was honey and dried cranberries; over the weekend I used raspberries and some choco powder

I have been on BC for 12+ years. Over that time I have managed to lose ~70lbs and maintain for a while now. I was looking at your diary and I noticed a few things. First...it doesn't look like you are eating enough. You need to consume at least 1200 net calories a day. I suggest eating more, consuming less than 1200 net…

I have done two of these types of runs...Warrior Dash and Spartan Race....both were a lot of fun! I love every minute of it. Its great to say you not only completed running but also physical challenges as well. I wore a t-shirt, shorts...they are on the older side since they will get muddy and mine are basically only going…

Yes, I ran Amesbury a month ago. It was a blast!

I drink a glass of chocolate milk (~8 ounces) in the morning, about 20 minutes, before I work out. Then once I get to work, I eat my breakfast which is usually oatmeal with something mixed in (dried berries, cinnamon, etc.). I personally can't workout on an empty stomach. I end up feeling light headed and my workouts…

Drink a glass of milk. It does the trick for me. It provides less than 100 calories (I drink fat free milk) and nutrients. I never go to bed hungry.

The only way to really know is using a HRM. However mine is big and bulky and I can't really wear it while playing. So i usually only count half the calories MFP gives me.

It's hard to tell without being able to see your diary. But what does your sodium levels look like? What kind of exercising are you doing? Do you eat back at least some of your exercise calories to ensure you are netting at least 1200 a day?

google couch to 5k and go to a running store and get properly fitted for the right running shoes. Good luck!
