  • Never missed a period from the time I was 10 yo until just after my 56th birthday. Never had a mood swing problem, although I did have cravings, for about 8 hours the day before I was "due". I found if I cut WAY BACK on salt for a few days previous, the bloating was controlled, as well as the cravings - I suspect there was…
  • I buy defatted peanut flour and add a bit of salt, and milk to make a creamy texture. Very low fat, low sugar, hight protein.
  • Pureed mango.....add seasoning to taste...creamy and rich, zero fat.
  • Quinoa, cooked with apple and garlic, 1/2 cup kale thrown after cooking, chopped turkey sausage added, chopped bell pepper added. Fresh strawberries over frozen strawberry yogurt. Glass of red zinfadel.
  • Fat free greek yoghurt.
  • Are these shi tzus? We have one (named Dammit). So sweet natured and fun.
  • Home made soup...canned or fresh tomatoes, pumpkin puree, celery, onions, garlic, cabbage. A few beans for protein, a small amount of rice for carbs. Chile peppers for seasoning, and salt if it fits your profile.
  • Angel food cake.....homemade, mix, or store bought.....fruit of your choice cooked with cornstarch to thicken and artificial sweetener (if needed) to pour over as a glaze/sauce.
  • Resisting food is my hardest problem too! Is it possible for you to spend more time away from home, where this is no food to tempt you? Library, swimming pool, etc.?
  • I felt the same way. Bought a new "device"; (in my case an Ipad mini). The MFP app is a bit different on each device. The freshness of learning it pulled me through.
  • Turkey breast (no skin); mashed cauliflower, cranberry sauce sweetened artificially, steamed carrots and brussel sprouts topped with no sugar marmalade, gravy made with fat free chicken broth and cornstarch, mousse made with canned pumpkin, artificial sweetener, fat free cream cheese and low cal whipped topping. Glass of…
  • I bike because I don't have a car....bike to work, bike to the pool, bike to do errands. I walk because the dog is better behaved when he gets regular exercise. I swim because it keeps my arthritis under control. But I enjoy every minute of it. (Maybe not biking to work at 530 am in January when it is -20 C.)
  • Hi...Do you have a group for women in their 50'? I started about 8 weeks ago, at 94.2 kilograms, and want to lose 100 gms a day for a year. Have had success so far, but would like to have some like minded individuals on my journey - for those difficult days. Not sure how to actually "join" a group on MFP.
  • Do you have any other fantastic food ideas? Would you consider starting/moderating a forum group on this topic?
  • My favourite post ever! Thank you Dean.
  • I put one third cup steel cut oats in a mason jar with one cup of water, close the lid, and put in a slow cooker of water overnight on low. Beautiful, creamy oats in the morning. I usually add a second jar with chopped apple, cranberries, cinnamon and sweetener of choice. Such an easy, delicious breakfast to wake up to!
  • I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and don't have a car.....use my bike for most of my transportation. Also, this past week I have been vacationing in Prince Edward Island and biking the Trans Canada Trail......total biking minutes in August so far is 3059. My average speed is 13 km/hr; for a total of 662 km.
  • Steel cut oats cooked overnight in the slow cooker, stewed apple and cranberries with cinnamon cooked overnight in the slow cooker. Wake up to amazing smells. I put the oats, salt and water in a mason jar, the cinnamon, chopped apple and cranberries into another mason jar before I go to bed. I set them in a slow cooker…
  • Sounds that you are doing an awesome job, balancing a lot of different needs...home, children, work, financial. I am so impressed with how responsible you are. Give yourself a little slack on the rough weeks......if you had a bad few days on the diet, you are making progress on the financial front, or providing a…
  • The only way I have been able to do it is by increasing exercise; I don't seem to have the willpower to decrease eating, but have lots of motivation for get up and go. In the past I have had to be creative about finding time or appropriate exercise to fit in with current lifestyle, due to injury, work, etc. Presently I…
  • I do, but I find it sucks the power out of my iphone pretty quickly. I usually will do a workout with it once, wearing my heart monitor, and then add that to "my cardio" on MFP. I have done this with various hikes, bike rides, that I repeat on a regular basis. I have found endomondo WILDLY inaccurate with swimming. After…
  • Absolute, pure luck. I have been married to a wonderful guy for twenty years. I have many friends who things have not gone so well for. It is no fault of theirs. It seems to be our nature (women's, at least) to think it is because of some lack in themselves. Not from what I have observed.
  • I've used a variety; the chest strap ones are the most accurate. They all work under water, however all the ones I have tried base calorie consumption on heart rate -- since due to water pressure your heart rate is always lower under water for any given exertion rate, the calorie usage is inaccurate.
  • I go to the Canada Games Centre in Halifax (Nova Scotia, Canada), and it does have wifi. Very convenient!, and makes working out that much easier. I stream music from CBC theme music sites: blues, rock and roll, classical, or what have you.
  • Wow!! I sure want support from someone who can lose 45 lbs in 65 days! What's your secret? Request sent.
  • I found the same thing! Bored to death swimming laps. I bought a snorkel mask, foot flippers, and webbed gloves. This made it much more interesting. There are a lot more swimming strokes you can do with this equipment. I do a total of twelve stroke styles, for five minutes each, for a total of 60 minutes. The time just…
  • Carrots and green beans from the garden. A chicken stuffed with chopped lemon, onion, garlic and tarragon that has been in the slow cooker while I've been out biking. Frozen yogurt. 4 oz red wine.
