Logically enough, adding water makes them moist.

I'm still working on losing weight, so what I am doing now (counting calories) will be modified when I reach my goal. But this is what I am thinking about: a modified ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting. No potatoes, rice, flour, sugar containing products. Three servings of fruit and ten servings of vegetables a day.…

I bake and prepare snacks for a lot of groups in our small community....ladies teas, hikers snacks, teenagers after school clubs, mens football game watching socials, etc. A few different strategies have worked: I don't prepare the food until shortly before I deliver it....if it is around the house or in the freezer, I…

Dried beans, tofu. Frozen fruits and vegetables are cheaper in the long run, as there is no waste. Cabbage, turnip, onions. Canned tomatoes. Make soup out of your leftovers. Steel cut oats.

Have you read Bill Bryson's book "A Walk in the Woods", about hiking the A.T.? Hilarious...(better than the movie of the same name.)

Hi Paul....what breakdown do you use for your macros? Is your goal weight loss, or muscle buidling? (Just being nosey).

I gained 40 kg when I had cancer in 2015/16. The prognosis was not brilliant, so I decided to eat what I want. Now that I am better I have to lose the weight. I eat what is recommended by MFP; 1200 calories, but exercise off 1400+ calories a day. I monitor this with an Apple watch. I lose about 200 grams a day. I am a…

I have cut out a lot of refined carbs....not because of my weight loss program, but because I discovered they make me VERY sleepy. I have to be alert for my job as a nurse and discovered by accident that small meals of mostly protein and a bit of fat with a moderate amount of fresh produce does not cause post meal…

I add it into most things I make. Oatmeal, tuna salad, casseroles, smoothies, soups, desserts. I find it is undetectable when added, and does not seem to change the taste or texture of anything. The added protein keeps me feeling full longer. I can buy it quite cheaply at the Bulk Barn. Also, many hospital dieticians will…

I add a tablespoon of whey protein powder to almost everything I eat.....the protein seems to keep me feeling full. It can be mixed into ice cream, soup, veggies....just about anything.

I start my 24 hour calorie count at 8 p.m......then based on what I have before bed I plan my next day's meals and snacks....like you I am stronger willed during the daylight hours.

Nikki, I use the recipe on this website: http://www.ourbestbites.com/2012/08/how-to-make-perfect-brown-rice/ I then portion in out in 1/2 cup servings, and freeze it. I find the freezing really helps break down the chewy, grassy texture.

Wow! Where do you live? So sorry that ANYONE runs where guns are needed for safety. Sounds like the best option for you, however. Also: would running with a dog help? I also hope you can take a "streetwise" course, to help avoid dangerous situations. (If this is even possible in your society).

Not sure about Savannah (USA?), but in Canada restaurants will give calorie counts of each item when asked.

I eat whatever I want on vacation, but I do log it. I ALWAYS lose weight on vacation....so busy having fun. Hope you do too.

Susie.....I ride my bike to work too! It psyches me up for the shift. Usually shower and change when I get there as it is uphill all the way. Nice coasting home though.

Well if backpacking in the winter means tons of chocolate trail mix is allowed, I might go every weekend. Thanks!

If I can lose enough wait I might donate mine to Goodwill to use AS homeless shelters.

During a previous weight loss of 60 lbs, my nursing uniforms got so big they were slipping off my shoulders.....I used safety pins to hold them up. I didn't want to invest in new clothes until I finished losing weight. Unbeknownst to me, our Unit Manager bought me three new uniforms......when she presented them to me the…
