Thank you Alison, that is helpful! I was mostly worried about bringing low calorie choices, but if I don't have to worry about that I will just visit my local MEC and the sky's the limit! Perhaps I don't need to worry about calculating exercise calories either; what do you think. I know that when I go on vacation I ALWAYS…

These are great tips! I'd like to add that it is hard to eat while you are doing cardio, so if you increase it you will have less time to eat, and some people find that their stomach shuts down for a few hours after cardio (no appetite).

$50.00 (Canadian) per person, per week. The number of people in our household varies. We don't use coupons. We grocery shop once a month, buy almost everything we need....the only things that can't be frozen and don't last the month are lettuce and bananas. We use frozen kale once the lettuce runs out, and frozen pureed…

Your reasons are your own business, and you didn't ask people for opinions on the rightness or wrongness of your decision. In my experience, the less real sugar (as an ingredient) and artificial sweetener I eat, the less I crave it. The first week is the hardest. For me it got progressively easier. I can now pass by…

Yes! This so describes my experiences. I try to do cardio in the evening....can't eat while I'm running, biking, swimming, skating. Also it takes me a while after exercising for my appetite to return. Looking eagerly for other people's solutions.

My first thought, when I read the title of your post was "get back off the wagon- you will use more calories walking." How mean and rude of me. When I read your entire post, I see you are a strong and brave person. Congratulations and good luck.

I got my first bike 7 years ago when I was fifty. The best thing I did was go to a reputable bike shop and tell them my needs. They found the right bike for me. You might be able to do the same thing, the advice is free, and they can help you find a second hand bike if your budget is very limited. I started out with a…

I log from 0001 hours to 2399 hours.....I find MFP lets me change the date of my entries.....so I I drink a boost at 2230 and don't have time to log it for a few hours, I can still put it in the previous day entry. I have more trouble figuring out WHAT to eat, and WHEN. Especially since I am not on permanent nights.....I…

3 tablespoons steel cut oats in a one cup mason jar. Sprinkle with salt. Fill with water and close lid. Put in a slow cooker filled with water over night, on low. Delicious oatmeal when you wake up. You could do seven jars at once, if you want to cook ahead and refrigerate them. We also put chopped apples, cranberries,…

I absolutely agree with you. There are ways of expressing negative opinions that are tactful. Many of the MFP participants know how to do this. Not all of them practice it.

Okay, this sounds weird, but it works. Before you cook it, put an ice cube in the centre of the meat. Voila, moist meat loaf. I got this trick from the "I Hate to Cook Book" by Peg Bracken.

It's tough, isn't it? Sometimes I pretend that I am a weight loss counsellor advising a client (who has the same issues as me). Artificially distancing myself from the situation helps me come up with creative solutions.

Steve.....I have had the same thoughts for years, I think you're right! I find when I make the adjustments you suggest, I can predict exactly what my weight loss will be.

My last vacation (the end of August) I actually lost 1.7 kgs. I ate what I wanted, but was very active....biked 40 -75 km daily, swam for up to 90 minutes every second day, walked 10 km a day. I usually lose weight on vacation, no matter how much I eat....I am so busy having fun!
