Unfortunately these wagons have really uneven wheels and are always looking to throw you off whenever you are not able to concentrate on the road ahead, whether that be from illness, lack of motivation, loss of will power, fed up with dieting, had enough of counting calories, blah blah blah. My wagon is on a particularly…

I have been in the 'perimenopause' for 5 years now - how long it lasts who knows! - and I have managed to lose 5 stone fairly easily over the past two years. I don't think it is necessarily the perimenopause that makes it harder to lose weight, as that is a different age for every woman - I think its the aging process in…

I am not expecting any, but if any appear (if my husband has a brain meltdown  ) then I shall eat it as a treat and move on. I try and fit in a treat now that I am on maintenance - trouble I am having is having a treat everyday...... perhaps after Easter I will try harder :)

Hi - I would say if you are losing 60lb you MUST be prepared to lose some off your boobs - it will happen. I went from a 42E to a 34D - but as to stay the same cup size if you go down a chest size you actually go up a letter - e.g. 42E to a 40F to a 38G..... then I have lost quite a bit of boobage. Funny thing is they are…

first thing in the morning before I jump in the shower so no clothes :)

Yes I did. Yes I am sure I am now lined up for the "OMG you need to exercise" brigade, but tbh being 5 stone lighter and not much exercise is so much more healthy that 5 stone heavier and no exercise is it not. I do go for a special walk occasionally and have been even known to do a few minutes on an exercise bike. I…

I am 5'9", 48 years old, size 8 feet (UK) big hands, big shoulders and I look great in size 12 clothes at my target weight of 166lbs. I look like a carthorse that has been starved if I go much lower - very gaunt. Yes I would like to firm up what I have, but that is likely to put a few lbs on rather than lose even if get a…

excuse.

Me too - I am often over if I eat a banana and an apple in the same day.......... as long as it isnt in donuts cake and chocolate I just accept that I will be over on my sugar but have met my 5 a day requirement and eaten healthily. If it is in donuts cake and chocolate then I am a bad girl!

48 year old serial yo yo dieter here that found losing weight by MFP the easiest in my adult life. I always thought that it would be much harder now I am at that age, but logging every day (today is day 521), being honest with what I eat, keeping on track with calories although allowing myself a treat now and then, and…

if you carry on you will see I never said to count them - I just explained why standing may be considered as burning calories. If you are going to quote please use it all :drinker:

My doctor and nurse at asthma clinic were bowled over by my using this app and asked to see it online - since then they have recommended it to others and told me so at subsequent visits. I think your doctor is not up with modern technology! There are apps and gadgets to measure everything!

The reason standing unsupported is not sedentary, like sofa lounging, is that your muscles are being used all the time in tiny movements to keep you upright and level. If you are leaning on your desk - i.e. using something to support your body, then its still sedentary.

Boxing Day

I also spread my lunch out over a few hours! I eat something like low fat crisps or granola bar at 11am, main lunch of sandwich, salad or soup at 12.30pm and save my fruit for about 2pm; so my 500 calories keep me going - in fact if I am in a meeting and have to eat it all at once, I struggle!

This x 10000000 - this is not a diet :)

Congrats :)

This - the carpet distorts the weight distribution somehow on the scales. Though to be honest, if its weight loss you are looking at, as long as you use the SAME scales as your benchmark each time, either would do.....
-
I got as far as if I cut 500 calories I wouldn't lose 4 stone........ I did and I did so I am not reading anymore. Everyone is different and studies are good for research but everyone needs to know how their own body and metabolism works, and thats by trial and error.

i dry fry my eggs in a very good non stick pan..... they taste yummy and no fat :)

Absolutely fabulous - congratulations :)

I don't personally think there is anything wrong with you. I feel much the same. I know I am now 'normal' but still like the idea of losing more, check myself (usually unflatteringly) against others, and am panicking about maintenance. Part of it is just how we are after being overweight. We still categorise ourselves as…

Hypothetically I wouldn't need to be here as hypothetically I am just big boned with an easy relationship with food :drinker:
-
exactamondo - we are not here to just diet, we are here to learn how to eat sensibly and ably for the rest of our lives, and that includes parties and social events!!
-
I'm already at maintenance, but am going away for Christmas and staying in a hotel......... so although no cooking, cleaning or leftovers for 3 days - also no control over cooking those lovely dinners.... though I can do some portion control. So I have decided to still log what I eat (though maybe just give Christmas Day…

5'9" here and although taller than some, about average for my group of friends, acquaintances and work colleagues. So no, don't think so!
-
Don't let other comments on here make you feel bad - maintenance after a long time losing is HARD. We have trained our brains to think in a new way, and now we have to slightly adjust it!! We still should be eating well and not reverting to our old habits that led us to the land of excess and obesity, but we can give…

so I weigh 166 lbs........ half of that is 83 - convert that to ounces and divide by 20 - you are seriously saying I should drink just over 4 pints of water a day............... well I won't flush my body to that extreme thank you. I get plenty of fluid in my diet without it and have managed to lose weight just fine - no…
