Yep - he has lost 3.5 stone - gone from a 38 to a 31 inch waist and has a flat tummy most men half his age would want.... lucky me
-
add me if you like :) I also have activity issues but have managed to lose 64 lbs in just over a year :)
-
thank you! I have a portrait in the attic :) Actually tis just good fortune, my mum is 70 but looks 60 max
-
Congratulations - you look great!
-
Well done! Its such a great feeling isnt it
-
Yep - you know you ate it so the only person you are trying to fool is yourself..... and if you are doing that, then that is the slippery slope to giving up. One day of overeating isnt going to pile all the weight back on, but a few weeks of pretending you are doing good when you are over will start to reverse all the good…

thank you all for your lovely comments - reaching this goal of a year is something I am very proud of - roll on Year 2

Sometimes I look in a mirror and don't recognise myself - how weird is that!!
-
Yep - am very shocked - though it is nice to see my feet on a regular basis :) I have gone from a 40DD to a 36E - but I have to say the worst bit is they have gone a bit saggy and no amount of exercise seems to make that better - so went for a proper bra fitting - what a difference! So my advice - treat yourself to a bra…

brilliant comments that I second - it is indeed possible to gain victory over your weight, become healthier and enjoy life without over stressing about it. I am also not special and do much the same (apart from the pizza as I am lactose intolerant!!). Have a great vacation and when you return, do not stress over the scales…

You came to the right place - after years of yo yo dieting and giving up, I have found a tool and a support mechanism that works - this is just a tool btw - you still have to lose the weight yourself!! But the motivation here makes such a difference.
-
THIS! I dont get how people make things so complicated - just eat your calories and you will lose - maybe not as fast as you want, and maybe you'll plateau or fluctuate a bit - but just do that and guess what - YOU LOSE WEIGHT.

+2

This made me feel better - I am nearly at maintenance and already wondering how i will cope.... Its good to know that there are others out there feeling the same

This :)

WELL DONE! I remember how good it felt to just be overweight after years of obeseness!! I am looking forward to being 'normal' in 6lbs time - see you there soon :)
-
Buy digital scales now!!! Honestly they will make life so much easier and will probably shock you when you realise how underestimating you have been in portion sizes.
-
Yes, but not on my work pc (which I am writing this on in my break) - will put some on later :)
-
THIS - so fed up with people telling me I dont drink enough water - I drink plenty of liquid thank you :)
-
Thank you! I am not a water drinker, yet am not thirsty even in the hot weather as I drink decaff tea/coffee or dilute squash, or even the dreaded diet coke or lemonade, when I feel like I need it. i cannot see the benefit of flushing my system out every day.... and the constant trips to the loo are not possible in my job.…

This is what I do repeatedly - even when they they go "well those charts must be wrong". I am sick of people saying I have lost enough now".... who are they to tell me how much to lose? I am still in the overweight category - and I am goaling for 'normal' - which will still be 12st 1b..... HARDLY SKINNY!!!!!! I now just…
-
Awesome - its the maintaining that worries me for the near future - its good to know that people can keep it off as I never have managed this before. WELL DONE!!
-
I weigh every day at the same time too - it helps me to keep an eye on what bloats causing water retention (RICE!!) and what different times of the month do to me. Also I agree that if you weigh once a week, if you choose a day when you have retained extra water you may feel downheartened; wheras the day before or after…

An incredibly young 47 here - my brain tells me I am 22; my body tuts at it and tells me otherwise........ feel free to add me if you wish, but I won't be offended if I am too old
-
thank goodness I found this topic - I thought it was just me! I look in the mirror and cannot see any difference. I have lost over 4 stone, gone from an 18/20 to a 12/14 - so I KNOW I am smaller but I cannot see it.......... its bizarre!!!! I was told I have body dismorphia by a 'friend' who told me I had lost enough…

bump for the crunchy chickpeas!

Derbyshire lady here :)
-
Coffee is not a duirectic - honestly - think about it - how much of your cup is actually water.............. and I have lost my weight with only a few glasses of water here and there - its a lot of chinese whispers (as someone else said) - just drink what is comfortable for you.

Are we not all trying to come up with a new way of eating that we can stick to for the rest of our lives? this is not a diet! And if we eat the occasional cake or pizza, well then we do. As long as our overall 'diet' (as in the food we eat) is now healthy and not something we angst over all the time surely that where we…
