  • Excellent points! I ONLY run or walk in the dark hours (because that's the time I have to do it). So I've learned to choose the streets that are well lit and have the least potholes! I would also add: 7. Don't forget your furry friend. Many of us have a four legged partners that we run with. Mine happens to have Rottweiler…
  • Way to go!!!! I'm so proud of you for sticking with it! I hope that I'll have a similar story for New Years Day! Keep inspiring me and I LOVE the costume!
  • Tried for W8D1 last night. Awful! Don't tie your shoelaces too tight! My feet and ankles were killing me! Ended up stopping at 20mins. BUT... that's 20mins more than I could run 8 weeks ago. If I don't get better, I might go back a couple of weeks and ease into it a little more gradual.
  • Nope.... overslept on my alarm this morning (mostly on purpose). So I guess I'll do a retry tonight. I was going to leave it until tomorrow, but I read your post. You're right. I don't want to leave it too long. Thanks!
  • Pretty disappointed in myself again today. I was able to talk myself out of running my entire W7D3 I'm not sure if I should try again tonight, or do it in the morning. Feeling lazy. I try to remember how great I feel when I'm done.
  • Hey Nickee, I may breakdown and buy the treadmill anyway. The roads get snowcovered and icey here. But I'm going to try to last it out with you. My first 5km is on January 1st! Hoping for a spring thaw that day. :S
  • I'm a angry at myself today. I let the monster inside win. :( Dragged my butt outside with alot of effort. Then decided after 5 mins of running I had enough. I walked the rest of the trip. I'm very disappointed that I talked myself out of the run. I guess I'll try W7D3 tomorrow.
  • Well I'm with you! I start about this time of year too. Once the heaters are turned on, the slightest cold air causes wheezing, coughing, etc. Bad enough that I can't sing. I've been trying to avoid the allergens as best I can.... but avoiding the trigger all together is tough when you don't have a treadmill. I plan on…
  • Completed W7D2 today. It was a hard run. Windy but warm and my legs didn't seem to want to move. I was frustrated because the Zombies, Run! app didn't seem to be working. (no zombies chasing me and no recorded distance). I've been told that maybe it's because I'm up at such an unGodly hour that even the zombies stayed in…
  • Thanks a bunch! Been stretching more.... it's not working yet, but I'm sure it takes time.
  • CAN'T believe I ran the W7D1 last night. I chose a different route that had a HUGE hill in it too. Pretty sure I was going to die and yet.... here I am!!! 35mins (including the walks) and 3.75kms. Pretty great! I've had so much fun reading everyone's success stories here! I'm looking forward to sharing my first 5km results…
  • Welcome! My dog would rather that I be biking with her too! But, these fall day runs have been great!
  • WOW! Keep it up!!!
  • I tried this for the first time this morning. 5am. Foggy/misty. Creepy run. I scare SO easy. It was AWESOME! Although, I found that I ran TOO fast and ran out of steam. I wasn't planning on starting at Week 6 in the 'game'. Just wondering if there was a way to set intervals. I didn't know about the 5km/10km addon. That…
  • W6D1 yesterday and We6D2 tomorrow. Not feeling as energized to get up in the morning, which is really hurting my motivation. Hoping this feeling passes and I can feel excited about running again.
  • WOW! That's an amazing committment. You're a runner for life now!
  • W5D2 - It was a tough run this morning. I really need to change my path so my first section isn't uphill. Scared to death of Wednesday's W5D3. 20 mins? Seriously? Sigh
  • I run at 5am (because it's the only time I can fit in my schedule) or after the kids are in bed. I think it's wise to wear light colored clothes and something reflective. Although, I'm pretty sure I wore black and grey this morning. Yikes. I bought the hottest pink sneakers ever and they do a good job of showing up. I have…
  • I signed up for one after week 1!!! I've never run before in my life. I'm going through a "what the heck were you thinking" phase now, but I'm on week 4 and determined NOT to loose my $50. I have lots of time... it's not until January 1st, but I'm sure I'll make it.
  • Started W4 yesterday. It was a perfect day for a run. Although, it caught me off guard. The first 3 and 5 mins were very challenging. My hip joints hurt, and I was winded. But the rest of the run was smooth and easy. Strange that it got easier as I went. Going to try to remember that for future long runs.
  • Last day of W3 today! Wow! Wasn't sure I would make it out the door, but once I got going it was no problem. I started a new workout using Slim in 6 and am feeling achey and sore all over. So running was a little scary at first. Once I stretched out my muscles, it was no problem. I was going to do W3 over again, I think…
  • Bummed. Woke up this morning to a severe thunderstorm and down pour. Today's run will have to be postponed until tomorrow. Safety first I guess. W3D3 tomorrow.
  • WK3D2 done. It was a hard run this morning. I wish my trail was lit so I could run there in the morning. I don't like the road running as much. If Thursday is similar to today, I may have to repeat week 3. But... no worries. I'm still moving. :D
  • Way to go @joedfro! I'm pleased to move onto W3D1 today! It was challenging but great! Love the cold weather here this morning! (7C/45F). Can't believe it's here! Does anyone else struggle with only running every other day? I 'want' to get up every morning and do it, but I don't want to burn out. Good thing for the brisk…
  • Hi everyone, I'm very new to this group but I would like to have some new friends and support group. I'm up to Week 2 Day 2 and so far, pretty good. (although, I decided to do week 1 twice just to make sure I was doing things right). I did something crazy yesterday. I signed up for a 5km run on New Year's Day! I've NEVER…
  • That's amazing! You've done so well! I hope that I'll be able to have the same spirit at one year! Thanks for sharing!
  • Great job! You must be so proud!!! Inspirational!
  • Busy! I hear ya!! But I keep trying to tell myself that I make what's important to me a priority. And 'me' is important. Welcome aboard!
  • Brian, I definitly need to check out the sock department! That's going to help. Sounds like a shopping trip. Now the only question left will be, "At what temperature does the dog need to wear HER sweater?"
