Have you tried exercising in a different pair of shoes? Although they were expensive, it's no guarantee that they are suitable for you. If you use different shoes for a few days and still get knee pain, I'd go and see a doctor.

You can eat absolutely anything you want. As long as it fits into your calories for the day, go for it. Like others have said though, measure the amount of oil you use carefully and log it. The mushrooms are low calorie, but the oil isn't!

This is a very good point. In the UK, we get mandatory testing once a year by a national body. I forgot that this may not be the case over there!

You've asked a very good question. I was on 325 micrograms of thyroxine and went to the doctor after losing 40 pounds as I felt shaky and had heart palpitations. Turns out I was severely over-replaced because I had lost weight. My dose was reduced to 200 and has just been reduced again to 175 micrograms! I would recommend…

I also add some protein in the form of an egg, or I find I'm hungry again pretty quickly after them. There's no way I'm not eating delicious Ramen noodles! I have them less frequently now but I wouldn't cut them out of my diet completely. :noway:

I think cognitive behavioral therapy would be extremely useful for you. Therapy-wise, or there are a number of self-help books, cds and groups out there if you would rather attempt to tackle it on your own initially. Your story echos my mum's childhood and subsequent eating patterns closely. The only thing that really…

Firstly, can I just say that you sound like a very lovely, caring brother, which is fantastic to hear. The approach you need to take to this situation depends on a few factors, including what your relationship is like with your sister, and how likely she is to respond to your concern. If it were me, I would focus on…

As you lose weight, you need less calories. So every time you lose 10 pounds, MFP will reset your calorie goal to account for this. Hope this helps :flowerforyou:

I couldn't see a difference after that amount of loss either. To be honest, I couldn't see much of a difference after 30 pounds. But, when I compared photos of myself I could definitely see a difference. I would recommend taking pictures of yourself after every X pounds lost (up to you, I took them every 7 pounds). Our…

48 pounds in the first 100 days. I was morbidly obese though!

And high five to having the same surname caseyfairbairn! I've never actually met anyone with my surname, even in Scotland!

   One of my friends recently told me I don't need to lose any more weight. I'm 260 pounds. Even taking into account that I'm 6 foot, I am still obviously obese! Most mean it well I think. They just take some time to adjust after seeing you at a heavier weight for some time!

I think the answer to that probably depends on where you live more than anything (or what you were brought up with). I'm in the UK and measure in grams. I was taught using the metric system in Asia so have no clue about ounces etc. Oddly though, I measure the weight of myself in pounds....I'm just full of inconsistencies!…

Have you set your Fitbit to the '2 pounds a week loss' setting as well?
-
I lost my first 40 pounds sitting in a wheelchair unable to even stand after ankle surgery. Just set your activity to sedentary and stick to your calorie allowance. I had mine set to 2 pounds loss a week, but I was morbidly obese so could allow myself to be that aggressive. I would set your calories to maintenance and eat…

I second that you have entered incorrect info at some point, whether originally or today. Check everything and try again!

I'd be irate too! Considering she wants the 'perfect wedding' why on earth did she guess your size?! All she had to do was ask for your measurements and all this would have been avoided! Hope they have one that actually fits you! I have a funny feeling that you would never get into a 2XS at your height anyway. We tall…

My advice would be to stay away from Slim Fast. I tried it (before I came to my senses  ) and it damaged my gastro-intestinal system really badly. It's also packed full of sugar which results in huge sugar highs and crashes. Honestly, all you need is a calorie deficit. The one tool that helped me immensely is…

MFP is a NEAT calculator and assumes no exercise. It is designed for you to eat your exercise calories back or you create a larger deficit than the one that has been set for you. If you have an accurate way of determining your true burn (eg.by using a heart rate monitor) then I would eat all of your exercise calories back.…

How wonderful you are Heidi! Yes, we are all just one paycheck away from lacking all the necessities. I was hoping someone may know of these services in the area. Thank you! :flowerforyou:

I have seen several posters use this as a rule of thumb to determine your activity level: 1) Under 5000 steps/day may be used as a "sedentary lifestyle index" 2) 5,000-7,499 steps/day is typical of daily activity excluding sports/exercise and might be considered "low active." 3) 7,500-9,999 likely includes some exercise or…

Yup. I gain between 7 and 10 pounds usually. :noway: I have found a couple of things that help though. 1. Drink more water. Seriously, a lot more water! 2. Stay away from sodium during that time. I personally seem to crave salty foods around that time and this, of course, won't help with the water retention.

Honestly, I would urge you to get to a doctor as soon as you possibly can! Although most people know about the external signs of hypothyroidism such as the weight gain and fatigue, the importance of a well functioning thyroid for your internal health cannot be seen and is often underestimated. I don't know whether there is…

I have atypical IBS. No constipation, just diarrhea and bleeding from ulcers in my bowel. The only way to find out what I could tolerate was by eliminating everything and starting from scratch. Go for low fibre, bland (beige and boring) foods. White bread and pasta; lean meats etc. I have to be careful with dairy, I can…

You're fine. Everyone loses weight quickly at the beginning, it's mostly water weight. It should level out to your estimated loss within about 4 weeks of your start date

Morbidly obese in the UK is any BMI over 40. When I started here I was morbidly obese. Now, I'm just obese. Go me!
