Brilliant!! Just, brilliant!

Quoted again, because this person knows what she's talking about!

It was pretty accurate for me until about 6 weeks ago, when I stalled. Now I swear at it and call it a liar at the end of the day!
-
It's a great day!!  :drinker: :drinker:

You will find loads of people here who will be able to help and support you along the way! I've sent you a friend request. I still have 100+ to lose, but am on my way! Best of luck! :flowerforyou:
-
Hi there! Go to My home>Goals>Change Goals>Custom. You can then manually enter the amount of calories you choose to eat. Hope this helps :flowerforyou:

Hi there! I have lost some, but still need to lose over 100 pounds too. I log every day, and really enjoy seeing what a great job all my friends are doing! Add me as a friend if you like :flowerforyou: You can do this!

You look amazing! Your story sounds so familiar. I'm sure many of us have been caught in the trap of yo yo dieting and trying every fad diet going. And then we found MFP, which actually works! I know you will achieve all your goals! Great job, so far! :flowerforyou:
-
I have chocolate daily too! My ticker was the same number as yours last week, but due to water retention (enough to fill a swimming pool) this week, it's not now. :grumble: Next week though!

I ended up in hospital for 4 weeks because it damaged my intestines too! OP, you can (and should) do whatever you choose. However, I think it may be helpful to consider both sides of the argument before making an informed decision :flowerforyou:
-
Absolutely! I went through a phase early on, where I didn't realise that the way MFP is set up is for you to eat the exercise calories back. I didn't eat them and my weight loss stalled. Now I eat them and have been losing consistently ever since!

We seem to pay a fortune here in the UK for healthy food don't we?! I get round it by interspersing my healthy options with some 'fillers'. So, noodles, rice, pasta and tinned tuna or certain meats are the way I get around it. Also, for frozen goods I always shop in Farmfoods instead of the major supermarkets as their…

I started mfp in a wheelchair unable to walk a step, following surgery to pin my shattered ankle together. I lost the first 40 pounds not even walking. Since then, I have had a few setbacks and am basically housebound and on crutches at the moment. So not much exercise still going on here! But I am losing weight! You eat…

I have lost a significant amount of weight. And still have a significant amount to lose! My advice would be, stick to your calorie goal (get as close to it as possible), drink plenty of water, and allow yourself some treats amongst healthy eating most of the time! This is a lifestyle choice, not a diet, so try not to deny…

I lost the first 70 with no plateaus. It worked out at 2 pounds a week, although some weeks were more and some less. I was morbidly obese though and still have a way to go (stuck in a stall at the moment but carrying on!). Best of luck! :flowerforyou: ETA: I started with a calorie allowance of 1860 and am still in the…

Thank you for sharing this! I am about 280 days in and have lost a good amount. Had a stall over the last few weeks though, so it's nice to hear success stories, to remind me that I am on the right track......it's only a few weeks in the grand scheme of things! :drinker:
-
Are you eating back your exercise calories? If you aren't, it could be why you're hungry!

Please try and get out of the good food, bad food mindset. Nutritionally, it is better for you in the long term to eat healthy, nutritious food. But you are in a tight spot at the moment, and in the short term, this won't affect you adversely. As long as you are under your calorie goal you will lose weight. If you are…

Yup! I'm one of the lucky ones who gains 7 pounds at TOM! Like others have said, just carry on through it and it will even out the following week!
-
I am in the 200s too! However, I am fine with that because when I started MFP, I was 336 pounds!! :noway: Height 6 foot. SW: 336 CW: 259 GW: 140 (to be more accurately determined once I have a healthy BMI). I am on my way and you can do this too! :flowerforyou:
-
You have had some good suggestions so far so I won't repeat them. You will find your trigger foods (like beer), unfortunately and will learn to steer clear! :noway: One thing that helps my IBS and ulcerative colon issues is peppermint oil capsules. I have had so many less flare ups since I started taking them and would…

I agree with the above post. I lost the first 40 pounds with no form of exercise, sitting in a wheelchair following surgery to repair my shattered ankle. Your calorie deficit is what makes you lose weight. You can do it without exercising! :flowerforyou:
-
Absolutely! It feels amazing! Even if you are only half a pound into that other stone, it makes a huge difference psychologically
-
The first few weeks you can lose a large amount of weight, especially if you have quite a few pounds to lose. I lost 15 pounds in my first 3 weeks. Then it slowed down to a safe loss of 1 to 2 pounds a week. Don't worry about it! See where you are in a month :flowerforyou:
-
I put on a lot of weight with Prednisone but I don't think you will. Firstly, you are only on it for a week. So it's short term and shouldn't be an issue. Secondly, the main reason people put on weight with steroids is because they increase your hunger. To stupid levels! Now, you are tracking your food so you will be aware…

I think it's worth it. Most people have heard and believed so many diet myths by the time they reach MFP. Hopefully, by reading the forums, and then doing their own research, they will learn over time that they are just myths!

This comment is genius!!

I have found the longer I am doing it, the less you think about it. At the beginning, learning about the calorie content of everything you put into your mouth, and exactly what a portion size looks like seems overwhelming. But after a certain amount of time (it was the 6 month mark for me), it becomes more instinctive.…

When my shattered ankle needed to be fixed, the hospital my surgeon usually operates in wouldn't accept me because my BMI was over 40 (44!). When in the second choice hospital, they couldn't find a wheelchair big enough so I could be discharged. My mum eventually tracked down ONE wheelchair for hire in the whole city that…

We can't compare ourselves to men. We don't lose weight at the same rate, unfortunately! On the other hand, 8.5 pounds in your first month is amazing!! So don't be disheartened by that!
