  • Hi! I have a similar journey to keto. Did low-carb/keto years ago, then recently did paleo/primal...and now it has evolved into keto. :) Feel free to add me!!
  • I think ultimately if you're feeling good, then that's what matters most! 125 at 5'4" is a perfect weight in my book (I'm 5'4" too, but no where close to that weight right now). When I did low-carb when I was in middle school, my lowest weight was 124-128 and I swam competitively and definitely did not eat paleo low-carb…
  • All of these responses have been great. :) I just wanted to say too, I don't know if you do the grocery shopping or not, but if so, just don't buy his "treats" anymore. If he NEEDS them, then he can go out and purchase them himself. That may not be enough of a deterrent for him to stop, but it may limit the amount of junk…
  • Hehehe :)
  • I LOVE my food processor....so many things you can do with it!! :)
  • Great! Thanks!!
  • Put the shredding attachment into your food processor (if you don't have one, get one....think of all the riced cauliflower!) and go to town! Shred it all when you get home from the grocery and store it in bags yourself. Yay!
  • I did the Atkins version of ketosis when I was in middle school (along with my mom). I lost the needed 40 pounds, and I had swim practice every weekday for at least 1.5 hours each day, along with weekend meets at least once or twice a month. My swimming performance was not hindered and in fact during that time in my life…
  • I think this is a great idea! I mean, even making something like spaghetti and meat sauce/meatballs, you can just eat it without the noodles! If you cook for her, then just limit what you're eating instead, maybe she will feel satisfied still and you can still keep to your goals. What are some examples of things she would…
  • The easiest thing I do is use a Lipton French Onion Soup packet (processed, so not technically Paleo) and sprinkle it over the meat and roast! So simple and so delish!!! Then once it's cooked, you can use it as shredded beef for lettuce wrap tacos, barbeque beef, taco salad, or just eat it straight up with some cauliflower…
  • I live in Indiana, and have heard of the Caveman truck...I need to go get some of his food!!! :)
  • Mmm now I want meatballs! I think I'm going to have to make a bunch this weekend and cook and freeze them! :)
  • Meatballs are so yummy. A great staple on Paleo. I recently made some with beef and italian sausage, and they were awesome. 2 pounds ground beef, 1 pound italian sausage (had lots of leftovers...easy to freeze too!), 4 whole eggs, three cloves minced garlic (or more if you love it!), 1 medium onion chopped fine, 1/4 cup…
  • Just get started and go from there. Things don't have to be picture perfect ever, but especially in the beginning. If you're in charge of the meals in the house, then just serve up what you eat (since it sounds like you've been eating paleo, yes?) Hopefully your husband is thankful for your support and advice having seen…
  • Feel free to add me! I've been on here for a while, but am in serious need of a re-boot! After my bridal shower this weekend things have just been going downhill. We can support each other. And I'm active in the forums in this group usually. I did keto/Atkins back in middle school with my mom, and I got down to an ideal…
  • Happy birthday! :) Also, I vote you take your portion, throw it away privately (that's what I do at least), and share the rest.
  • SAME HERE. So I at least put it on veggies. I bought a small cup of truffle butter about 2 weeks before going paleo/primal...it was going to originally be for pasta. Now it's amazing on fresh green beans especially...and broccoli. :)
  • I just got my first jar of the stuff! I'm super pumped to use it!! :)
  • Feel free to add me! We all have those days and certain foods that could derail us. I've started figuring out substitutions for things...like instead of ordering pizza, I get sausage, pepperonis, shredded cheese (if you do primal with dairy), homemade pizza sauce from tomato paste, and put it all in a bowl and gobble it…
  • I totally hear you on the cravings!! I had one meal out with some friends and it took me about two weeks to get back to a point where I'm not craving every carb-rich food I could think of!! Welcome!!!! :)

  • I have my carbs set pretty low at 5%, so it ends up being about 20 carbs per day. I don't pay close attention to net carbs, but I do figure that if I go over my carb limit because I had a quarter head of cauliflower and a salad, then I'm okay!! I don't really think the 4 carbs in my lettuce are going to make or break me!…
  • I just made butter pecan ice cream and caramel this past weekend!! :) For my ice cream base, I used the vanilla bean recipe from the Gather cookbook because I wanted to use all egg yolks since they make it extra creamy. Then I followed this recipe for the pecans (just sautéed in butter), and the second one for the caramel.…
  • Okay, that just sounds amazing.
  • Today, sausage and fried eggs. Seriously. Best breakfast ever. And this is one of few groups on MFP where I won't get my face ripped off for saying so. :)
  • Mmm zucchini boats! I can't wait for zucchini to be in season! We participate in a CSA from May-October. So we have to pay a lot up front, but then every week through those months, we get a part of the local farm's harvest. Right now we're getting radishes, lettuce, garlic scapes, chard, snap peas...and maybe that's it…
  • I think for me, I'm not getting carb-crash sleepy, so my normal sleep is sufficient. I'm sleeping just as much (in fact I'm trying to get to bed earlier just so I can have a bit more time in the mornings), but it's definitely more restful than when I was eating SAD.
  • I'm thinking about starting Whole 30/auto-immune protocol for my fiance. He's got a family history of rheumatoid arthritis and has been really hurting lately. So we're going to see how it goes! He loves nuts and seeds, we both love eggs, and we might not be able to live without tomatoes...but we're going to give it a shot…
  • I hate fish too. Not even tuna or any of the other stuff you listed. I also don't eat lobster, shrimp, pretty much no seafood or fresh water food. That being said, I've always cooked without fish/seafood, so it's not been a problem at all. I cook my own meals though and don't do a meal plan thing. Eat all of the yummy meat…
  • I've learned my lesson the hard way again and again too. It does sound like you've already made up your mind to do it, so do it and see! You never know. When I did Atkins back in middle school I was swimming 2 hours a day, so when I would splurge on pasta once a week I'd still see losses. Now, I have a desk job and ride my…
