Depends on the exercise, if you are doing something heavy like running or spinning etc you need to eat both.. if you dont eat before you will be drained and not have energy to finish. Then you need to eat afterwards to refuel your body. If you are doing something light like a walk, you could probably get by without eating…

I tested it on my last workout.. the categories are really general, I picked Calisthenics / exercise - moderate (for the eliptical/arc trainer since it was pretty much cardio) Their estimation Total Calories Burned 448 my HRM registered - 628

You will find webpages such as MFP and other online sites are using general formulas to try to be accurate over a large population.. what you will find is they arent accurate.. because how do you know later in the day you are tired and dont push as hard, your heart rate doesnt get as high and you acutally burn less…

I would look at your average HR and compare it to your friends and see if your HR is getting as high as theirs

The V02 max calc needs to be set because its what the unit uses to factor in calorie burn.

I get weird readings if the strap is too tight or too loose. Also make sure you wet the straps too.. After a while we have just bought another strap I guess they could wear out.

I use natural PB, the kind you get grinded in the machines at the store.. it does have fat, but its a healthy fat and there is no added stuff to it, just Peanuts

It takes your current weight (last logged) then it takes how many calorie deficit you had today and figures ok if you were 800 this day then at 3500 cals a lb over 5 weeks you would be at xxxxx cal deficit or X amount of pounds lost, then it subtracts it from your current logged number. Its just an estimate and not likely…
